Chapter 25: What a Funny Wife…
(Maralia’s POV)
Kerstan: “Maralia, did you, or did you not bring one of that woman’s wives to her?” He asked with an angry and loud tone.
Maralia: “If I did such a thing, then my position would have automatically been revoked.” I reply with a scoff.
Some hate this game, and others see it as some holy rite of passage. Ever since Celia showed up, doing crazy things in the game, this side has tried to go against her.
This man, Kerstan, was the leader of their group. Due to Midas’s weakness, which Celia healed due to her loving nature, sacrificing her body, Kerstan threatened her to have Celia and the rest of her guild executed. Midas was weak, she and couldn’t go against his words at the time.
Luckily, I was able to stop this from happening. I didn’t think that he would act so quickly, so they got ahead of me for a bit. I couldn’t risk waking them up, so they had to spend many years sleeping. But… that was better than them being killed.
Kerstan: “Then… was it just the random happenings of the game?” He asked with a thinking pose.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
Maralia: “It would have to be. If I risked doing such a thing, wouldn’t I have brought the rest of Celia’s family to her?” I add.
Kerstan: “…”
Maralia: “It goes without saying, but none of her other family has shown up in the same dimension as her. You do realize that the game is alive, right?” I continue with my arms crossed.
Kerstan: “It is alive, which is why we respect it.” He replied with a respectful tone.
Maralia: “Then see this has the game giving Celia a treat. Whenever she is feeling worn out or down, the game will probably reward her with a family member.” I say with a confident tone.
Before, I wouldn’t think this… but, after doing some investigating, I realized that the game was what destroyed Celia’s original dimension. It practically kicked off a huge portion of her life, and for what? To me… the game is asking to be put down.
Kerstan: “Why would it help her like this, though? Never before has the game even been partial to any one player.” He asked with a thinking tone.
Maralia: “The game is alive, and judging from what I’ve seen, it wishes for death. As you know, this game will be the last one, since Nemu wishes to end it.” I answer.
Kerstan: “How will helping Celia lead to its death?” He replied with a raised eyebrow.
Maralia: “Celia will win, and then she will kill the winning Will, thus destroying this game. The winning Will takes most of the power, but the game also takes a cut, which keeps it running.” I explain.
Kerstan: “…”
Maralia: “If only one Will dies… then even if Nemu takes millions of years to heal, there will not be another game held.” I continued with an excited tone.
His group was shocked, but they accepted my words as truth. Though aware of me being partial to Celia, they understood that I rarely told lies. With this long, day’s long discussion over, hopefully these people won’t bother Celia any more…
