Chapter 16: Mother Daughter Talk.

(Celia’s POV)

Despite staying with me, Solia and Yona had a lot of work to deal with. Of course, most of it wasn’t just them having to execute people. This meant that the amount of times that I’ve seen them in the past month has been somewhat minimal.

They aren’t the negligent parents that Emma lied to me about, though. In truth, I am already an adult. The fact that they bother to come and spend time with me is reason enough to believe how much they care for and love me.

From what Emma said, during my childhood, they had spent a lot of time with me. Raising me as their daughter. This left a lot of work for them to deal with, and because they pushed it off for so long, more problems sprung up.

To this day, they’re still dealing with it all. But most of the problems stem from them not being around to give an order like kidnapping someone for execution, and not being there to catch our enemies early.

Given their long efforts after I turned 18, both of them claim that it will only take a few years until things calm down once more. When it does, they promised to spend more time with me and my new daughter, Mena.

Speaking of which, I was currently watching TV with Mena. All of a sudden, there was a news report about the plane crash that I was involved in, and about the island. In the report, the island was just recently discovered, and the world maps will have to be remade. Which is funny, in my opinion.

Celia: “Do you miss them?” I ask.

Mena: “Who?” She replied with a confused head tilt.

Celia: “Your parents.” I clarify.

Mena: “…”

The news also reported that hundreds of people had been saved from the island. As per my suggestion, Annette and her people had erased the memories of the people who ended up on the island. They only recalled the time of how they ended up there, not what happened on the island. Mena’s parents surely returned home as well.

Mena: “I feel horrible… but I honestly forgot about them until you brought them up just now.” She said with an embarrassed tone.

Celia: “So you don’t want to go find them? I am sure that, with my and my parent’s resources, we could easily do so.” I ask.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Mena: “They were good parents, I won’t lie. But they aren’t on the level of you. It is horrible to say, but I think that it’s better for them to think that I died on the island.” She replied.

Celia: “Whys that?” I ask with a head tilt.

Mena: “My parents were always interested in research. They aren’t as powerful as your family, but there were up there. One day, my mother was drugged and so was my father. This ended up with my mother getting pregnant with me, and my parents having to get married.” She explained.

Celia: “So… you saw yourself as a burden on them?” I assume.

Mena: “That’s correct, in hindsight. Whenever they didn’t have to take care of me or my problems, they would be doing research. The main reason why I ended up on that island was due to their research.” She replied.

Celia: “How did they even find the island in the first place? I don’t recall asking you about that…” I ask with a curious tone.

Mena: “By boat. The area surrounding the island was very interesting to my parents. Soon, we were led to the island by complete accident.” She answered.

Celia: “I see…” I reply.

Mena: “Mom?…” She said with a confused tone.

Her confusion was evidently due to me reaching out and pulling her into a hug. No child should be born to parents who do not love and cherish them. And even if they are loved, no child should ever feel like a burden to their parents.

Celia: “You’ll never be a burden to me, Mena.” I say with a warm tone, rubbing her head nicely.

Mena: “…”

Celia: “What’s your answer?” I jokingly ask.

Mena: “I know.” She said with a bright smile.

With a smile of my own, I decided to keep hugging and pampering her. Just as much as Mena would allow. The problem for her… is that Solia and Yona came home while I was doing this. Thus, sending Mena into a parental pampering hell once more. Ah… how tragic…

Sometime Later.

Solia: “You know, with how you’ve always acted, I never expected for you to be such a good mother, Celia.” She said with a happy tone.

Celia: “That’s just because I love pampering my family just as much as I love being pampered.” I reply with a laugh.

Mena was currently sleeping with her head resting on my lap. Just like in our original life, my daughters sure were cute while they were sleeping. I guess that goes for most girls, though. I… I think?…

Yona: “It is a shame that we haven’t found a good match for you yet.” She said with a sigh.

Celia: “Match? Do you mean like, a romantic partner?” I reply.

Solia: “Having you happily married is one of our wishes, you see. But finding the perfect girl for you seems to be impossible. We have been searching for years…” She explained in her wife’s stead.

Celia: “With these kinds of things, looking will be fruitless. Instead, it is far better to just let life happen.” I reply.

Yona: “…”

Solia: “…”

Celia: “?”

Solia: “When did you get so wise?” She asked with an oddly serious tone and expression.

Celia: “…”

With a pout, I went back to pampering my daughter. All the while, Solia and Yona tried to console me for the accidental insult that I was just given. To me, it was kinda just funny. But them trying to pamper me as recompense is nice, so I kept this going as long as I could.

Once the fun by me was had, I picked up Mena and took her back to her room. I then placed her on the bed and I tucked her in. She was already wearing a nightgown, as it was late, so I didn’t have to change her clothes.

After that, I said goodnight to Yona and Solia, giving them both hugs and kisses before going to my room. Lately, there haven’t been many things happening. So it was decently tough for me to get to sleep. Only after trying for an hour or two did I actually fall asleep…
