Chapter 88: City of the Dead, Brimo.

(*Celia’s POV*)

Last night was so relaxing and peaceful, you wouldn’t think that we were in a city filled with undead. Not! Or rather, I wish that it was peaceful. I also wish that woman warned about this, but clearly the undead beings of this city revert to mindless undead during the night.

Yes, having thousands of zombies banging on your door, and even windows, all screaming that they want our skin and flesh, is a very good situation to sleep in! Frankly, it was a good thing that we went to sleep early. At the very least, we got a few hours of sleep…

Ria: “Does the Creator find our suffering to be entertaining?” She asked.

Celia: “Probably?” I reply with an unsure tone.

Ria: “…”

Oddly, it seems that the inn keeper expected us to die, and she begged for us to not kill her. Even though we had every right to, we didn’t kill her in the end. At least now we know to not go out at night. Oddly, she looked upset that we didn’t kill her…

Upon leaving the inn, we were greeted by many people, all them said that they were happy that we survived, and they were sorry for what they tried to do to us last night. Once again, we told them that we didn’t want to hurt them. They replied with smiles, but they were clearly upset about something… What the heck?

They explained that come nightfall, they aren’t in control of their actions at all. Their true selves go to sleep, and come morning, they’re always surprised where they wake up at. Thinking about it, rather than a virus, this seems like a curse…

Ria: “I think so as well, Celia. Even more, I think this Teren is still alive as well.” She said with a serious tone.

Celia: “I guess that we should head to her castle, then?” I propose.

Ria: “That is, if we can find it…” She replied with a sigh.

Yeah, even flying up into the sky, we couldn’t find a castle at all. Talking to the people around, they had no idea who we were talking about, and were adamant that they never had anyone rule them at all. So… this was a curse placed on the royal family of Brimo?

No wonder the Creator thought that this would be interesting… While walking around with no true aim, we ran into an odd sight… There was a little girl standing before us. The weird part was that she was human.

By that, I mean that she wasn’t rotting like the rest of the people in this place. Before we could talk to her, she started walking away, so we followed her. The people of this place acted like she didn’t even exist… Is she a daughter of the royal family?

Little Girl: “It’s been many years since we have had visitors.” She said with a smile.

Now, we were in back in that same inn. Except that we now had a visitor with us. The little girl, well, she didn’t act like a child at all.

Celia: “That so? Could you tell us your name? This is my wife, Ria, and my name is Celia.” I ask with a smile.

Teren: “My name is Teren, queen of Brimo.” She answered with a bow.

Celia: “…”

Ria: “…”

Teren: “What is with that reaction?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Celia: “My sister-in-law, Soma, likes little girls!?” I exclaim with a shocked tone.

Teren: “Soma is still alive? And no. This is just part of the curse.” She explained.

Ria: “Soma is an ancient dragon. Why wouldn’t she be alive?” She asked with a confused tone.

Teren: “Soma is still that shy after so long? How funny. Before the curse, we planned to get married. She most likely thinks that I am dead, so I long since assumed that she had taken her own life. It makes me happy that she is still alive to this day.” She said with a warm tone.

Celia: “Why not take one of the Elixirs of Life, and then leave Brimo? The barrier is pretty weak now.” I ask with a curious tone.

Teren: “Assuming that Soma was still alive, I didn’t want her to have to make love to such a young body as I now possess.” She answered.

Ria: “And the curse?” She asked.

Teren: “I angered a Rot Goddess long ago. She cursed my people to turn into zombies, as well as erased their memories of me and my presence. She even erased my castle and made me look like a child.” She explained with a sigh.

Rot Goddess? Didn’t we deal with something like that a while back? Well, my family dealt with it. It is still kinda weird that we both dealt with a Rot Goddess. Is it the same one?

Ria: “We killed a very weakened Rot Goddess not that long ago. Could she have been the same one that cursed you?” She suggested.

Teren: “I think that it is highly likely. I did heavily weaken her, and recently the curses effects have been weakening as well. My people being sane is a very new development, by the way.” She said with a thinking pose.

Ah, that would explain why no one mentioned anything about them being sane to us before we entered Brimo… Though, that begs the question, with that Rot Goddess dead, why hasn’t the curse been completely removed?

Celia: “How do we finish off the curse?” I ask with a curious tone.

Teren: “That Rot Goddess sure was a rude bitch. The curse won’t fully go away until all of my people die. And I am forbidden to harm them. Actually, I can’t harm them at all. I tried.” She replied with a sigh.

Ria: “So you want us to kill your people?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Teren: “Yes. They’re dead people walking, don’t feel bad about killing them. And we can just wait until tonight to finish them all off.” She suggested.

Celia: “You want us to commit a genocide!?” I exclaim.

Teren: “It is a mercy, not a one-sided slaughter. My people wish for death, that much you can easily hear them say dozens of times a day. And are you willing to do that for me? I assume it is for those elixirs, right?” She replied.

Holy shit!… That’s why they were upset?! Those people wanted us to kill them… I guess that a life like theirs isn’t all too good, after all. I can’t believe that I feel bad about NOT killing them…

Ria: “Soma said that she pawned them off to you for sex.” She replied with a laugh.

Teren: “That was the excuse she used? What a perverted girl… They were weddings gifts to me.” She explained with a giggle.

She then went on to explain Soma and her relationship more. Both Soma and Teren were deeply in love with each other. They were in love so much, that it is actually surprising that Soma didn’t end her life. Their relationship was on the same level as my relationship with my own wives. If even one of them ended up dying, I would end up going insane…
