Chapter 26: My Daughter is Missing!

(Solia’s POV)

That day, Yona and I had a lot of work to get done. But we had to drop everything and rush home, ignoring most of it in the process. Such things didn’t matter at the moment, you see.

Mena had called Yona and informed her that she had no idea where Celia was. Her smartphone was left on her nightstand, and it seemed that she didn’t even get dressed for the day.

Rather than drive home, we ended up flying back home. Flying isn’t something that you can do in this age with ease. Not in the sense that magic is hard to obtain, though it is. But in the sense that flying without good reason is illegal.

What if you’re reckless and fly into a plane, or something along those lines. Ironic that magic users are beholden to such laws. But we didn’t care about breaking those silly little laws at all.

Once home, we confirmed what Mena had told us. As for Emma, she was already out searching for Celia. Stupidly, Yona and I have our phones set to ignore calls from most people. The exceptions to this rule are Mena and Celia.

We had several missed calls from various maids, all of which we missed. Since we realized that Celia really wasn’t there at home, and that we had no idea where she was, I called Emma.

Emma: “My Lady, we have already looked through the surveillance recordings of Celia’s room. A maid, of which we have already apprehended, kidnapped Celia.” She informed.

Solia: “And how did the maid get inside Celia’s estate?” I ask.

Emma: “One of our maids let her inside. I have arrested that one as well. They’re both being kept in the dungeon. They wouldn’t speak, and torture isn’t one of my specialties.” She answered.

Solia: “Since she was kidnapped, there is no reason to run around looking for her. If needed, we will invoke the tracking magic that we’ve placed on her. You and the other maids return.” I order.

It is quite annoying to have to use that magic again. Such magic can only be used once, and we will have to reapply on Celia after we find her. As it is a secret, we will have to put it on Celia when she is sleeping.

Keep in mind, I am not annoyed at Celia for this. It isn’t her fault that she was kidnapped. I… My wife and I will take out our anger upon the ones responsible for what happened to our precious daughter.

Solia: “Let’s go to the dungeon.” I propose.

Yona: “Are the ones responsible inside?” She asked.

Solia: “Just the maid who did the kidnapping, and the one that let her in. I doubt that our maid will have anything special to tell us, so let’s not focus on her.” I answer.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

Yona: “Alright.” She agreed.

We took great efforts to never let Celia know about the dungeon in her estate. Having one was needed for the life that our family lives. This dungeon should be nice, as we have never used it before until now.

Walking to the garden utility shed, we opened it up and used magic to access the secret entrance to the underground dungeon. The dungeon was the length of the entire estate, but luckily, the ones imprisoned were in the closest cells.

Solia: “Tell me… Do I need to torture you, or will you just tell me everything?” I ask with my arms crossed.

Kidnapper Maid: “Depends…” Her words were cut off.

Our Maid: “My Lady! Please don’t kill me! They kidnapped my sister and used her to blackmail me!” She pleaded.

Solia: “Shut up.” I say with an angry tone.

Our Maid: “…”

Solia: “If your story checks out, then we will just fire you. But if it doesn’t… then expect to die soon. You’re only getting the chance of mercy in honor of how merciful our daughter is.” I explain with a scoff.

If it was one of the maids in our estate… we would have tortured her to death. But since it is one of Celia’s… doing so would surely upset our daughter if she ever found out. Rather than a mercy to the maid, it is just us pampering Celia.

Kidnapper Maid: “Since that silly tool was dealt with, can we continue with our talk?” She asked.

Yona: “Talk? It isn’t a talk, fool. Just tell us where our daughter is!” She yells in annoyance.

Kidnapper Maid: “You can kill me, but then you will never know what happened to your daughter. The choice is yours.” She said with a smug tone.

Solia: “We have placed tracking magic on Celia.” I inform.

Kidnapper Maid: “…”

Solia: “The only bargaining chip you have is saving us the trouble of reapplying it on her.” I continue.

Kidnapper Maid: “Will you let me live?” She asked with a nervous tone.

Solia: “No.” I answer.

Kidnapper Maid: “How about a painless death if I tell the truth?” She asked with a pleading tone.

Solia: “A painless death will be given to you, in that case.” I answer.

Kidnapper Maid: “My Master is, Joseph. He is from an offshoot of your family, a cousin to Celia. He wanted to get rid of her, so that you will have no choice but to adopt him as the heir.” She explained.

Before I could respond to her information, Yona had punched a hole into one of the walls of the dungeon. In anger, she ripped the cell door off of its hinges, and picked the woman up by her neck. A mix of anger and sadness radiated around my wife, and I understood it wholeheartedly.

Yona: “…She is alive, right?” She asked with an unsure tone.

Kidnapper Maid: “I… I have no idea…” She answered.

Yona: “What does that mean!?” She yelled, tightening her grip on the woman’s neck.

Kidnapper Maid: “T-the…the plan was to send her away to a different dimension, rather than kill her. But the dimension that she would end up in… we have no idea if it will be a safe or dangerous one.” She struggled out an answer through her restricted airways.

Yona dropped the one on the ground, not caring if she got hurt in the process, and walked over to me. Her eyes were displaying signs of her tears threatening to spill out like a bursting dam. A sight which hurt me dearly to see.

Yona: “Invoke it… please.” She pleaded.

Solia: “…Okay.” I agree.

Activating the tracking magic I placed on Celia, I soon knew of her location. This was when our worst fears were realized… The last known location was in an area of the city mainly used for storage. But the problem was that her location changed, and it was nowhere within this dimension.

Looking at my wife, I struggled out a sad sideways shake of my head. To which she then broke down in tears while hugging me with all her might. This wasn’t like with that weird island, we could still detect that Celia was in this dimension in that case.

But now there is no connection. After invoking it, the magic will last a few months. This time, it only lasted a few minutes. Signifying that my connection to the spell was completely cut off.

We will find our daughter. That isn’t something that we will ever give up on. Though the main thoughts in my mind are… how will we torture the ones responsible to where they can understand our pain from their actions?…
