Chapter 79: Nia.

Chapter 79: Nia.

*Nia’s POV*

When I was given a second chance at life, I was beyond upset. It wasn’t like I killed myself, but I saw a way that I would die, and just decided to not avoid it. Actually, thinking about it now, that was basically just suicide with a few extra steps…

A Death Goddess is someone who works with souls, and leads lost souls to the afterlife. Of course, we do not have to do that if we don’t want to. It is mostly young Death Goddesses, and God’s that do that.

In that case, it is quite ironic how I, a Death Goddess, wished to die. While in my new mother’s womb, I didn’t have the ability to kill myself. Since I had nothing to do, I decided to just look ahead to my future.

Anyone that has the ability to see into the future, quickly realizes that doing so, would lead to an extremely boring existence. But as I already planned to not live this life, I didn’t really care how far into the future that I looked.

Out of curiosity, I specifically looked into the future, at times where I would be happy. Surprisingly, unlike my last life, I would end up being very happy in this new one. That wasn’t enough reason for me to continue living, though.

That changed when I saw the future, where I was married to a very beautiful woman. Her name was Celia, and by the time that I met her, she was already world renowned.

I saw how hard I tried to get into a relationship with her, but it wasn’t easy at all. Celia already had two wives, and she was very adamant about not taking another woman as her wife. I couldn’t even convince her that we should be together, by telling her about how I saw us together when I looked into the future.

The reason was quite simple, God’s and Goddesses, or really any higher being, you cannot look into their future. The only reason that I could see such a future, was because at that current time, I was still in my mother’s womb, and Celia clearly wasn’t powerful enough to block my future insight.

In the end, I did marry her. But it felt a little bit too late. The way that she would treat Ria and Lia, was different from me. It’s not like she didn’t love me, I made damn well sure that she did, it’s just that, she loved those two far more than me.

The reason was simple, Celia had known them for hundreds of years. It took me five years to get her to marry me, so it would be a very, very long time until Celia loved me at the same level as those two.

That isn’t to say that I wasn’t happy, I absolutely was. It was then, after seeing such a future, that I decided to live this life. If only, just to be with Celia. I feel bad for those two, but I shall have to cheat. Again, I had nothing better to do, so I just looked into Celia’s future specifically, just to see when the best time for me to meet her would be.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

There were… way too many options to decide, so I had to wait until I was born to choose one of them. Once I was born, I discovered that I was born into a noble family, of the demon race. Though, I looked completely human, my family still loved me all the same. With this family setting, I should easily be able to attend that academy, so that was the plan that I went with.

Many years passed by, and I was able to attend that same academy as Celia. Using a lot of my power, I picked a good day to meet her. I was never a cruel person, so I made sure that I wouldn’t interfere with any progress those two made with Celia. At the moment, they wouldn’t think this, but I see them as my sisters.

I decided to give Celia an abrupt, and bombastic first meeting with me. After all, Celia is one to always focus on things that interest her. What could be more interesting than a Death Goddess telling you that you will end up marrying her?

This almost didn’t work, as I expected her to try to inspect me right away. But either it is because she was always smart, she didn’t try at all. Which is weird, because when I first met her in that distant future, the first thing she did was inspect my status.

Though, thinking about it, she probably did that because she knew that she was way stronger than me. Celia right now is quite weak. Her inspecting every person that she meets, clearly isn’t a habit that she’s picked up just yet. Ria’s a Goddess as well, so luckily, she seemed to have informed Celia about my true identity.

I wouldn’t say that she fell for me, or even Lia, but she certainly let us get close to her. Which wasn’t something that I expected to happen at all. My best guess, it is because she is quite young. So she was easier for me to get into a relationship with her.

Granted, we aren’t dating yet, but it was hard to even get Celia to be my friend, let alone my lover. I wouldn’t say that she gets colder in the future, but she is certainly less trusting of people. Though, living for that long, would do that to even the brightest of people.

Even with such an advantage over Ria and Lia, I won’t try to be the first to get with Celia. I didn’t look into who got with Celia first, but my best guess is that it was Lia. I won’t be making any concessions for Ria, though. As she is a long lived Goddess, she will not be wanting to be with Celia until many years from now.

Frankly, just being around Celia is amazing on its own. I was so happy when she let me live with her. She hasn’t tried to exclude me from anything that she does either. Honestly, I could now understand why I fell for her so quickly. Even this young, Celia is a joy to be around, and is extremely interesting, at least to me.

On one such day, we were going on a trip to a dungeon. A dungeon that hadn’t been explored yet. I have been in some before, so I wasn’t really that interested in it. The only classes that I enrolled in, were the same that Celia went with. Just more time for me to spend with her, after all.

Not even that far into exploring the dungeon, a fellow student of ours made a stupid mistake. Stepping right onto a trap, I was content with either letting her get hurt, or even die. If she did die, I could just make sure her soul was put to rest.

I made it a point to not look into my future, unless it is some important that I need to know, to either stay alive, or to make sure Lia and Celia stay alive. What I didn’t expect, was for Celia to save the stupid girl, and fall into the pit herself…
