Chapter 5: Self Reflection.

*Celia’s POV*

I stupidly fell face first into the mirror world… Oddly, it didn’t look reversed. Though, it did look completely destroyed… What the hell?

Me: “Hm? You actually survived that? How odd.” She, or rather, the girl that looked like me said with a thinking pose.

Celia: “Why do you look like me?” I ask.

Me: “Oh? Sorry, I forgot to change back.” She said with a giggle.

The girl then changed into a black-haired young lady. She was wearing a uniform, that looked just like mine. The most interesting thing was that she was clearly a ghost…

Me: “My name is Mena. What’s yours?” She asked.

Celia: “Oh, mines Celia. Are you a ghost?” I ask with a curious tone.

Mena: “That’s right, I died many years ago, and I have been stuck like this for a long time.” She replied.

Celia: “How long exactly?” I ask.

Mena: “Since the world ended, I would guess. It’s hard to say how long, though.” She said with an unsure tone.

Celia: “The world ended? But your uniform is the new one that the academy just adopted…” I say with a thinking pose.

Mena: “Oh, then this is 867 years in the future from where I dragged you from.” She said with a laugh.

Celia: “Can I go back?…” I ask with a nervous tone.

Mena: “Maybe? I figured that you would just die after I pulled you into here.” She replied with a shrug.

Girl… Could you please just be even a little bit more serious? This is a lot to take in… Ignoring the ghost girl, I walked over to a window. Looking out of the window, I saw a terrible, terrible sight…

It was gone… All of it. The academy, and everything else. It was all in ruins. And from the looks of it, it was destroyed a long time ago… Did this random ghost girl send me into the future?…

Celia: “When did the world end?” I ask with a serious tone.

Mena: “If I remember correctly, then it ended a hundred years ago.” She answered.

Okay… that gives me a lot of time to work with. Now I just need to figure out why it ended.

Celia: “I’m going to go find my wifes and my moms, do you want to go with me?” I ask.

Mena: “I would love to, but I am trapped in this place.” She said with a sigh.

Since she was stuck, there was no reason to linger here longer than necessary. Jumping out the window, as I wasn’t keen on getting a splinter from the destroyed walls, I flew over to Yona’s castle.

*An Hour Later.*

Much to my great sadness, the castle was destroyed… Even still, there might be something here that will help me figure out how this world ended.

It was completely empty… With a sad vibe, I walked to the last place to check, which was Yona’s throne room. As I opened the door and walked into the room, a slash of dark magic was shot my way. I managed to dodge it in time, but I was spooked. The one who shot that attack at me was clearly Yona…

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Yona: “Who dares to invade my final resting place?” She asked with great difficulty.

I wanted to respond, but I was shocked by what I saw… Yona was heavily wounded, with an odd looking spear impaled in her chest. The worst part, was that Solia was impaled by the spear as well. As if she tried to block it from hitting Yona, but failed.

Solia was clearly dead, and Yona wasn’t that far behind her. I couldn’t speak, and instead, I just ran up to her, and gave her a hug. With tears streaming down my face, I still had no words to express… It is hard to see your own mother die, after all…

Yona: “Celia? Is my mind playing tricks on me? You should be dead…” She said with an unsure tone.

Celia: “It’s hard to explain. I do not know how I died, but I come from the past.” I try to explain.

Yona: “And are you truly here, or is my dying mind messing with me?” She asked.

Celia: “I’m really here… What happened?” I ask with a serious tone.

Yona: “Too much… I would say. Though I do not know how you’ve come to the future, I will endeavor to explain as much as I can. How far into the future is this for you?” She asked after she coughed up some blood.

Celia: “A ghost dragged me into a mirror, which is how I got here. She said that the time I come from, was at least 800 years prior to now.” I reply.

Yona: “…Truly?” She asked.

Celia: “Yes. Give or take a few years.” I reply.

Yona: “How far exactly? What did you last do before coming here?” She asked.

Celia: “It was only the second day of me going to your academy. Just an hour after I got done training with Solia.” I answer.

I do not know why, but Yona started to bawl her eyes out. Was it because I brought up Solia? I hope not… I might be able to go back in time, but she will clearly die here. I don’t want her last moments to be sad…

Yona: “Forgive me, dear daughter of mine. Have I ever told you that you constantly give me so many gifts?” She asked.

Celia: “So far? At least once.” I reply with a giggle.

Yona: “Well, you have given me yet another gift.” She said with a smile.

Celia: “How so?” I ask with a head tilt.

Yona: “That far back, is more than enough time to fix this horrible future.” She replied.

What happened, was very simple. A war broke out 600 years from my time. It wasn’t a petty war between kingdoms, but a war between higher beings. A war even worse than the one that I experienced all those years ago. The solution was simple as well. We just needed to get stronger, but way faster.

I sensed mana flow around Yona, and then a piece of sealed paper appeared in my hand. It looked to be just a normal letter, but I’m sure that Yona will explain it to me.

Yona: “That is Solia and I’s will. It always explains everything that happened up until now. Take it, but do not read it. Just give it to me in your time.” She said.

Celia: “Okay, I will. I don’t want to die, you know. But I am confused. Nia would have mentioned such a thing as this happening to me. Why didn’t she?” I say with a thinking pose.

Yona: “Time travel… is confusing. She simply saw that your future is long, and there is nothing to warn you about. Which simply means, that you were destined to be here in the future, and receive my early warnings.” She explained before spitting up blood.

Celia: “Yona… You will be dying soon…” I say with tears rolling down my face once more.

Yona: “Yes, my daughter, I will be dead soon. I am still alive in your time, so do not worry.” She said with a warm tone as she pat my head.

Celia: “But… even still…” I say with a shaky tone.

Yona: “For you to be so saddened by my death, it brings great joy to my heart. Now then, my dear daughter, could you fulfill a final request of mine?” She asked.

Celia: “Of course, ask me anything.” I reply.

Yona: “Stay with me until I pass. I know that it will be hard on you, so you don’t have to accept if you can’t handle it.” She replied.

I just nodded my head to reply, and waited with her. It took an hour for Yona to die. I wanted to bury their bodies, but all of a sudden, their bodies turned into light and disappeared…

After clearing the tears from my face, I left my home and went back to the abandoned academy. It took me longer than it did before, as I wasn’t really in a good mood at all.

Mena: “You’re back?” She asked.

Celia: “Yes.” I reply with a sad expression on my face.

Mena: “What’s up with that look? Let me guess, all the ones you went to look for, are dead, correct?” She asked with a serious tone.

Celia: “Dead, and I had to stay with my mother as she died.” I reply with a sad sigh.

Mena: “That’s rough…” She said with a remorseful tone.

Celia: “I want to go back now. Do you want me to reap your soul? One of my wives is a Death Goddess, so I can reap souls as well.” I ask.

Mena: “I am not just a ghost, but a wraith. You cannot reap my soul, your wife will have to be the one to do that.” She replied.

Celia: “Alright then. I’ll just tell her about you after I get back.” I say with a shrug.

Mena: “Ah, thanks a bunch! Sorry for dragging you in here, I was just bored.” She said with a giggle.

Celia: “It’s fine.” I say with a sigh.

I walked up to the mirror, and fell into it with ease. Now that I think about it, going through this mirror, was similar to teleporting with those arrays. But I have far more important things to worry about now. How am I going to explain this to the rest of them?…
