Chapter 93: Cure!
*Celia’s POV*
When I woke up, I was informed that Ria and Yona had dealt with all of my planned work… Fuck, I have such good mothers! Nia and Lia were still tired, so I left castle on my own and went to check up on Amelie’s progress.
The castle, well, I guess that it is MY castle, is in the center of this dungeon kingdom. As such, it took twenty minutes to reach her place. On my way there, I ran into various different kinds of people, all of them bowed to me, and seemingly respected me highly.
As for why, I truly had no idea whatsoever. Not like I could ask them, as they all treated me as some all powerful queen of this place… Pushing such memories far into the back of my mind, I knocked on Amelie’s door. A few minutes later, the said door opened up.
Amelie: “Celia! We did it!” She exclaimed happily, after she picked me up, and jumped around with me.
Cute, I guess? Hm… who knew that having such a good mom would be so amazing?
Celia: “The cure, you mean?” I ask after she put me down.
Amelie: “Yes! We finished the cure! The reason why we finished it so quickly, was because of the materials that you gave us.” She answered with a happy expression.
Celia: “That’s good, but have you tested it out yet?” I ask.
Amelie: “No. Could you help with that? You still can still teleport to those sewers, right?” She asked.
Celia: “Nope, sorry. We teleported back from that beach.” I say with a sorry tone.
Amelie: “What do you mean? As long as you teleported from a place, you can always teleport back to it. Regardless of how long it’s been, or if you’ve teleported back from other places.” She explained.
Celia: “…”
Really!? There should truly be a manual for things like this… Anyway, I offered to take Amelie to the sewers, so that we could test out the cure. It was in liquid form, as you would expect from a medicine that a witch would make. Potions, and all that.
Amelie was right about me being able to teleport back to places that I’ve teleported from. The weird mass of flesh seems to have expanded. Once we flew up from the waterfall, we saw the wall of flesh, as I already mentioned, and a sea of undead.
Celia: “There are still this many of them?” I say with a sigh.
Amelie: “So it seems. Let me test out the cure!” She said, before flying over and above an undead.
She poured out the bottle onto the head of one of the undead, oddly, it melted… Did that mean that it worked, or did they just accidentally make something really acidic?…
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
Amelie: “Further testing will be required… I do not want to risk letting people consume this cure, if it will just melt them from the inside out…” She said with a thinking pose.
After that, Amelie suggested teleporting back to the kingdom, instead of my dungeon. My closes teleport there, was the academy, so that is where we ended up. Despite what is going on, the city looked peaceful. Like they didn’t care that there were thousands of undead just hiding under their city…
Amelie flew to the castle, and I followed after her. She requested something very extreme from the queen and king. She wanted to use death row inmates as test subjects for the cure. She was also quickly given approval for this.
I felt uneasy about using such a method, but it would be far better than testing it out on an innocent person. Amelie forced an inmate to consume the cure. We waited for an entire hour, and he didn’t show any negative side effects, or you know, melt, at all.
Since this was a success, Amelie suggest another messed up thing… She wanted to take the inmate that was given the cure, and have him be bitten by an undead. Just to make sure that it fully worked. I was hesitant to do so, but Amelie suggested doing it alone. I agreed with her.
A few minutes later, she came back, and then we waited to see if the inmate would turn. With great luck, he didn’t turn into an undead, no matter how long that we waited for.
Now all we had left, was to spread the cure around. Amelie said that to make the cure, wasn’t that hard, and didn’t require any special ingredients to make. As such, getting the cure to as many people as possible, was our new goal.
*Many Days Later.*
No breakouts have been reported, and the cure has been given to every kingdom and town. The fear of the unkillable undead, easily spread throughout the world, so the cure was even shipped to different continents. Even that evil kingdom, Leretia, got the cure.
Frankly, our only problem now, is to deal with the undead within the sewers. We culled a lot of them, but because they were able to escape, they did get a decent number more of their numbers. Currently, Amelie, Hadi, and the queen are discussing what to do.
Marna: “Even with the cure, fighting those undead will be tricky.” She said with a thinking pose.
Amelie: “It might be tricky, but leaving them there, wouldn’t be a very good idea. They could still find some way to escape.” She said with a serious tone.
Hadi: “And using strong magic against them, wouldn’t work. Does this kingdom even have a big enough military to deal with them all?” She asked.
Marna: “If we prepared for a few years, then yes. But as of right now, our military is spread across this kingdom, so that it can be defended.” She replied with a sigh.
Why even bother to fight them? I feel like they’re missing a very easy solution to this problem… Ah, maybe they already thought about it, and figured it wouldn’t work?
Amelie: “Celia? Do you have an idea?” She asked with a warm tone.
Celia: “Yes, but I don’t know if it will work.” I reply with a shrug.
Marna: “Regardless, more ideas floating around, will surely lead to us solving this problem.” She proposed.
Celia: “Alright, I’ll say my idea then. Why not use put the cure in the waterways leading into the sewer? We could also just flush it down the toilet.” I offer.
Marna: “…”
Hadi: “…”
Amelie: “…”
Celia: “What?” I ask with a head tilt.
Amelie: “Why couldn’t we come up with that idea?” She said with a sigh.
And with that, the plan was set in stone. Apparently, dumping a whole bunch of the cure, wasn’t only a good idea, it was even approved right away. Rather than risk exposure to being bitten, we flooded the sewers with the cure, for a few days.
Currently, I am now within the sewer, along with Nia, Lia, and Amelie. Ria was tired, so she stayed home. The fleshy wall thing was completely gone, and there were no signs of any undead at all.
Amelie: “It seems that your plan worked, Celia.” She said while patting my head.
With a blush, I showed them all to that hidden room that I found. Inside was that odd creature once more. It no longer moved, and was clearly long dead. With the undead destroyed, it would still take some time to repair, and for everything to go back to normal. Now we just have to hope that nothing else crazy will happen in the meantime…
