Chapter 24: New daughter.

(*Celia’s POV*)

Alisa wasn’t in the best state of mind, so I am glad that she fell asleep in my arms. As I fly away, I glanced back at our battleground. An area of a few miles was completely destroyed. Blood and our body parts littered the entire destroyed area.

Honestly, I am glad that Alisa accepted moving our fight to a secluded area. If this fight happened in the city, the entire damn place would have been completely leveled to the ground. Not to mention how many people would get injured…

While flying with my new sleeping child, I came to a conclusion of my earlier question toward myself. Yes. I will break if I keep doing this. But I don’t care. Even just losing one family member would be enough to make me go insane.

Even so, I will still save as many as I can, regardless. I know that it would lead to me eventually losing myself, as caring for so many people in general is very mentally and physically taxing. Let alone the broken girls that I tend to pick up.

But, even still, I will keep walking this path. It might be soon, or hundreds of years from now, even if I break, I know that my family will be there to help me heal from it. That is the kind of family that I cultivated, after all.

Amelie: “Celia!” She exclaimed.

Celia: “Hm?” I reply.

Amelie: “Who the hell were you fighting with!? The fight was so crazy that I didn’t even dare to interrupt it. Ah, I knew that you would be fine in the end.” She asked.

Celia: “That doesn’t matter anymore. Oh, right. Amelie, meet your fourth granddaughter.” I say in a quiet but happy tone.

Amelie: “…”

Celia: “?”

Amelie: “Not another child… And what the hell do you mean fourth!? Nina… Mena… where is the third child? Have you kept her a secret from us!?” She exclaimed, but in a whisper.

Celia: “My third daughter is Ruina.” I reply with a giggle.

Amelie: “…Damn. So, what is her name?” She asked with a curious tone.

Celia: “Alisa.” I answer.

Amelie quickly accepted Alisa into the family, and she wanted to hold her. I agreed and gave her over to Amelie. But after less than a minute, Alisa’s peaceful sleep seemed to turn into a restless one.

Her happy smile was replaced by a frown, and some tears escaped her eyes, despite being asleep. I took Alisa back into my arms, and then her peaceful sleep returned. A happy smile once again on her cute face.

Amelie: “…Am I bad with children?” She asked with a sad tone.

Celia: “Didn’t you once tie me up with chains?” I reply with a joking tone.

Amelie: “That!…” She cut her own sentence off.

I shouldn’t feel good that Amelie had no words to say. But it was somewhat kinda nice to see her quiet for once. I said that mostly as a joke, so I reassured her as such. Amelie said that she still regrets it, even though I don’t mind it anymore.

Yestila directed Amelie to find me, but only because I was in that big fight. Once again, Amelie left to go save more people. As for Alisa and me, I decided to go to a hotel. And a very nice one at that. How did I pay? They gave me a room for free…

Apparently, living beings can’t access any of the systems in Heaven. And I don’t mean systems like mine. Rather, money, IDs, etc. Since we can’t use any of that, everything here is free for us. Within reason, of course. I can’t just swagger up to Heaven’s stock market and buy the most profitable companies.

Although, that would be a very cool infinite money irl hack… Or, would it be an iral hack?… As I didn’t want to be rude, I explained to the owner of the hotel my predicament. Well, in a way that doesn’t say how terrible the situation actually is.

She agreed to let Alisa and me stay in a room for as long as we needed to. Which was great! I plan to give Alisa some food when she wakes up, but I can’t be here the entire time. Which is why it’s very good that the staff will deliver food to Alisa every day.

Funnily enough, one of the staff members was being controlled by that AI woman. She explained to me more about Alisa’s current situation. Basically, since I eat food to exist, Alisa can do so as well now. She can still get food by causing terror, but she isn’t forced to do so.

Sure, you could make the argument that she never needed to cause terror, as she is immortal. Alisa could just go starving, as she would just never die from it. But, fuck you! You try starving for a few days, and then you can try to make that argument.

Alisa: “Um…” She said after rubbing her eyes.

Alisa was sleeping on a nice bed, and I was sitting by her side until she wakes up. With her awake, I can explain what the plan is, and that she is safe here. Besides that AI woman, Heaven is pretty peaceful.

Celia: “Good morning! Did you sleep well?” I ask as I help rub the sleep sand out of her eyes.

Alisa: “Better than I have slept in hundreds of years.” She replied with a happy smile.

Celia: “Great. Would you like some food?” I propose.

She nodded her head, but it seemed that she was still a little unsure about eating food, as apposed to causing terror to eat. From what that AI said, before she became my daughter, food to her would just taste like nothing. So it would make sense that she would be uneasy about such a new experience.

I brought her over to the kitchen of this hotel room, and I took out some food for her out from my inventory. Even without refilling it for a long time, I still have plenty of food at the ready to eat. With great hesitation, she took a bite of some steak.

Alisa: “It tastes so good!” She exclaimed before eating as fast as she can.

One bite was all it took for her to cry again. Her expression of sadness and delight, mixed with tears streaming down her face, was oddly cute. Alisa quickly finished her meal, and it was evident that she wanted more, but was she afraid to ask me.

Celia: “Alisa, please never think that you can’t ask something of me or our family.” I say with a smile before taking out five more meals for her to eat as she pleases.

Alisa: “I understand…Mom.” She said with a red face.

Ahhhhh! She called me “Mom”!!! No matter how many times I get someone to call me that, it never gets old! I wish that I could have a hundred daughters that I could dote on!… I noticed Alisa looking at me like I was a madwoman. Did I make a weird expression while looking at her?… With a fake cough, I explained the living situation to Alisa while she continued to eat.

Before Amelie left, she actually came to the hotel with us, so she is aware of this room. Amelie will probably show up here, so I told Alisa about her. I felt bad about leaving her alone here, but Alisa said that it was fine.

She liked me treating her like my daughter, but she oddly knew that I was way younger than her. In fact, she had been living in Heaven for over two years now, so Alisa was used to being somewhat alone. Well, I think that she has been alone for a long time…

After she assured me multiple times that she would be fine, I left to go deal with my other targets. Thankfully, Alisa was actually the strongest person that I had to save. The rest will still be a challenge, but they aren’t on my level at all. With that, I left for work…
