Chapter 79: Finding Sarah… Too Late…
(Ria’s POV)
Rather than go through the strongest, gathering the weakest people of our family was the better choice. Simply because it took far less of my power to freeze their time. Nia and Lia being outliers, as their time was still very much in motion.
In an act of kindness, one that I am still confused about as to why I even did it, Sarah and her wife, I sent them both to the same dimension. I even let them keep their memories.
I was so damn lazy with the lower priority members of our family… Only Celia’s remaining daughters, and Amelie, have good setups. Frankly, Sarah was the last person I saved.
Everyone else was scattered to the wind. A big shame, as this meant that Celia would be searching for her the rest of her friends for a long while. I have no idea where any of them are…
Upon reaching the dimension where I left Sarah and her wife, I was confused. It wasn’t like how I left it. Rather, it was like… something… everything changed? This was God’s doing… wasn’t it?
God: “No, not me. I am confused too… Be on your guard.” She advised.
Instantly, I was worried. This dimension, I couldn’t look into it at all, and neither could God. Not to mention, but the real reason why I decided to save Sarah right now… was due to how this dimensions time wasn’t frozen. And I wasn’t the one to unfreeze it…
Much Searching Later.
Ria: “…”
God: “…”
As I said before, I was oddly nice to Sarah and her wife. I specifically put them into a modern dimension. Grey would be confused, but Sarah would be easily able to live in such a world. And live happily with her wife.
That being said, why is it now a fantasy world? I was lazy, but I still had a plan. I was going to hide Celia’s memories of them, and have them try to convince Celia that they were her family.
Which was why I let them keep their memories. But I never planned to their time go on, similar to what Lia and Nia had to go through. This world was fantasy, nothing like how I made it…
God: “The Will seems to have meddled in this dimension, Ria.” She assumed.
Ria: “I cannot locate Sarah anywhere…” I reply.
God: “Neither can I, but both of us can tell that she is still here in this dimension. We just have to find her.” She said with a serious tone.
Ria: “…”
Weeks Later.
God and I searched through kingdom after kingdom, country after country. We didn’t find a single hint of Sarah’s or Grey’s location. That was… until we eventually did…
God: “Here lies Grey, loving wife of Sarah… Here lies Sarah, loving wife of Grey…” She said, reading out the words in front of us.
There were two graves before us. One was Grey’s, and the other was Sarah’s. We were played… With this, Celia will lose her mind… At this revelation, I fell to my knees. I had failed Celia once more…
Everywhere we went, we heard tales of a legendary couple. One that saved the world countless times. The only thing that stood out to us was the fact that the couple was a lesbian one. With no other options, God and I decided to check out this so-called legendary couple. And as fate would have it, that couple was actually Grey and Sarah…
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Sarah: “Kneeling, practically on my wife’s grave, how rude.” She said with a joking tone.
Ria: “…”
Turning around, I saw an old woman. Despite how she looked, and her raspy voice, the woman was clearly an old Sarah. She was still alive? What’s the point of her grave, then?…
Sarah: “If my mind is still working properly, you should be Ria, right? Grey passed before me, but we had our graves made years ago.” She explained.
Ria: “I…” Her next words cut me off.
Sarah: “There is no need to say sorry to me, Ria. This is what I wanted to happen.” She said with a warm tone.
I was confused, and so was God. Sarah invited us into her small home. The place was filled with love… Sarah and Grey clearly spent their last few years together very happily. But… Sarah won’t be living much longer.
Sarah: “Ria, take this letter, and please give it to my sister.” She said, handing me an enclosed letter.
Ria: “…Why did this happen?” I say with a confused tone.
Sarah: “You wanted to save Celia by isolating her from her family. And I didn’t want to live forever. Due to that, you agreed to let Grey and I live out our lives in a fantasy dimension until we died of old age.” She answered.
Ria: “…I have no memory of this.” I reply with a nervous tone.
Sarah: “That was part of the agreement.” She replied.
Ria: “…”
Sarah: “This is my punishment to you. Everyone else would let you off, but not me. You seemed to have thought me to not be very intelligent. But that was far from the truth, Ria.” She continued.
Ria: “That doesn’t make any sense… If you planned to trick me, then I would have seen that by looking into the future…” I exclaim in reply.
Sarah: “That is why I negotiated for you to not be able to look into my or Grey’s future prior to making the agreement.” She said with a laugh.
Ria: “…”
I had played myself, huh… How stupid of me. To be fooled by a silly mortal girl. It was evident that, either I was stupid, or I was just blinded in my quest to save Celia.
Sarah: “I won’t be living for much longer… As such, you will have to bring Celia to our graves, and explain your mistake to her. Oh, and make sure to only give her the letter after seeing our graves.” She said with a haughty laugh.
Ria: “You would let yourself and your wife die, all just to get back at me!?” I yell in anger.
Sarah: “No. We both wanted one simple life, Ria. We weren’t like the rest of you. You all could easily live an unending existence, but not us.” She denied.
God was silent, choosing to be just an observer. Considering that Sarah didn’t mention her, God was most likely invisible to Sarah. I wish that she would at least chime in on this depressing conversation…
Ria: “Then… why do this? You might not have been with her for a long time in this second life of hers, but you still mean a lot to Celia.” I say with a sad tone.
Sarah: “Are those tears threatening to fall from your eyes? Ah, so the uncaring higher being was saved by my sister, huh? How very much like her to do…” She said with a thinking pose.
Ria: “…”
Sarah: “This was for Celia, Ria, and nothing more. At the very least, I wanted there to be at least one repercussion for your plan. And I knew that Celia would save you.” She explained.
Ria: “That isn’t a full answer, Sarah…” I reply.
Sarah: “Celia will forgive you for this, but it will hurt her. Death is necessary, and she cannot save everyone. This includes her family, as well.” She answered.
Ria: “…”
Sarah: “Celia had helped me so much, so being a sacrifice to better her is something that I am more than willing to do. This is my punishment for you. Suffer her hatred that will probably never come, and help her get through this.” She added.
Punishment!? Selfish bitch!!! You just wanted your sister to suffer… Your heart is tainted, I can see it… In truth, you hate Celia… You hated that you had to take care of her. You hated how she was living such an amazing life, all while you continued to suffer…
Ria: “You’re a fool…” I exclaim.
Sarah: “How so?” She replied.
Ria: “Your grandstanding is pointless, Sarah. I can see into your tainted heart… Celia was wrong to save you.” I say with an angry tone and expression.
Sarah: “…Perhaps I did hate her somewhat… But the results of me doing this will be beneficial to Celia.” She replied with a confident tone.
Ria: “I am telling you right now that no one else in her life will die. You and Grey will be the only ones…” I inform.
Sarah: “…How lucky for her… Ria, I am old. My hatred for her, which was always small, has long since vanished. Regardless of if no one else in our family will die, I want her to learn how to lose. And I would have still wanted to die gracefully of old age with Grey. That much is the truth.” She said with a smile.
Ria: “…”
What a pointless endeavor… Sarah unwarrantedly hated Celia, which caused her to come up with a grand scheme to hurt her and get back at me. The fool won’t even admit to it… Either out of shame or ignorance.
What’s more, in her old age, Sarah will probably stand by her horrible plan. I was the real one to blame, though. I agreed with it. What was wrong with me? How… I know that I should be focusing on saving Celia, but right now, my mind is focused on how to explain Sarah dying of old age to her…
