Chapter 53: What a Story…
(Celia’s POV)
The story that Kami told us was very shocking, to say the least…
Kami: “Basically, I pissed off a being far higher than me, and she retorted by stripping me of my immortality and life. Sending me to live in this dimension. Though I don’t think that she really cared where she sent me.” She explained.
Ria: “…”
Celia: “…”
That’s it!? That’s the story?… Damn cheeky girl… She spent over an hour hyping up the story, all to just reveal this basic information!? I feel upset…
Ria: “Why…” Her words were cut off.
Kami: “Why did I lead you two on for so long? Because I was hungry.” She said with an innocent tone and expression.
Ria: “…”
This girl even said that what happened to her was so upsetting… that she needed to eat first and calm down before she could tell us about it. I am not too mad, though. The girl was obviously very hungry, so I cannot really blame her much.
Ria: “I would have given you food, regardless of how complex or simple the story ended up being, Kami.” She said with a slightly angry tone.
Kami: “Sorry, I am just not that trusting of a person. Frankly, the only one I’ve ever really trusted was Alisa.” She said with a remorseful tone.
Celia: “I see… You should learn to trust us. Everyone in our family is good, and are people that you can trust.” I explain.
Leaving out the tasty treats, it would seem that Kami’s walls were slowly being broken down by us. After all, it wasn’t like we were her enemies. Not to mention, but she is also technically family to us already.
Kami: “I do hope that will end up being true. For now, I want to know why, or really, how you two found me.” She said with a curious tone.
Ria: “It’s nothing special. I just sensed a hidden power, so I guided Celia here.” She answered.
Kami: “Hidden power? What do you mean? That woman said that she stripped me of everything.” She said with a confused tone.
Ria: “Rather, it would seem that she decided to give you a small punishment. Your full power is still within you… It is just locked away.” She explained.
Kami: “Locked away? And how can I unlock it?” She asked.
Ria: “Simply put, you need to kill, or rather, consume souls to regain your power.” She replied.
Kami: “Consume souls… Is there no other way? Ria, you’re stronger than that woman by miles… Surely you have a way to skip such an annoying task, correct?” She pleaded.

Ria: “A way does exist, but your current human body is far too weak. If I unlocked your power, not only would your body be destroyed, your soul would also likely be obliterated as well.” She denied.
Kami: “…”
Ah, what luck! With this, Kami, my daughter’s wife, will have to kill all of the people here in this kingdom! It’s a win-win for everyone involved!!! Well, I guess it wouldn’t be a win for the people of this kingdom…
Kami: “Do you purpose another solution? With the reunion of me meeting my wife soon, I do not wish to perish so stupidly.” She asked with a defeated tone.
Ria: “I do have one. And my proposed solution goes hand in hand with our own plans.” She replied.
Kami: “And what exactly does that plan entail?” She replied with a raised eyebrow.
Celia: “We plan to destroy most kingdoms in this dimension, leaving only Vesta and Alburn to exist in the end.” I answer in my wife’s stead.
Kami: “…”
Ria: “As horrible as it sounds, I have already gotten all the good people out of this kingdom, and the other ones as well. No good people remain.” She said with a reassuring tone.
Kami: “Once everyone in this kingdom dies… will that give me my power back?” She asked with a thinking pose.
Ria: “No.” She denied.
Kami: “Then why…” Ria cut her words off.
Ria: “But it will make your body and soul strong enough to withstand regaining your full race and powers. Especially if I go through the effort of funneling every soul, not just the ones that you reap yourself, into you as well.” She explained.
Once again, Kami was deep in thought. She did have to think about agreeing to kill a LOT of people… For me, I do not really care. I am no saint, that’s for sure. And Ria’s words have already assured me that no truly innocent people will end up dying from our plans.
Kami: “I can’t do it.” She said with a sigh.
Ria: “Why not?” She asked.
Kami: “I was about to starve to death before you two showed up… Even with these seemingly endless treats, I am still starving… How would I kill everyone in this kingdom?” She replied.
Ria: “I can lend you some power, Kami. And you don’t have to kill everyone. We just need you to start a rebellion, which will end in the destruction of this kingdom.” She explained.
Kami: “You would lend me some power? Surely, you’re aware of how restricting that is, yes?” She asked.
Celia: “What do you mean?” I ask with a curious tone.
Kami: “Do you not know? For a higher being to lend someone power, it’s not like they will just get it back right away. Instead, it could take a day, months, or even years to return, depending on how much power was given.” She answered.
Ria: “That’s true, but not much power is needed to deal with this kingdom.” She said with a shrug.
Kami: “…I do feel like you’re overestimating me. But, very well. I shall do this bloody rebellion for you two.” She said with an excited tone.
Ria: “Wonderful.” She said, snapping her fingers.
Celia: “…”
Kami: “…”
Once Ria snapped her fingers, we were back in that hotel room again. This place was most likely the most expensive hotel/inn in the entire kingdom. Which, as you would expect, is a major upgrade from Kami’s house.
Ria: “Dinner should be brought to this room soon, Kami. There is a nice couch to sleep on, but if you prefer a bed, I can make one appear for you.” She informed.
Kami: “…Aren’t you giving me too much?” She asked with a confused expression.
Ria: “Nonsense. Since you’re Alisa’s wife, and as Alisa is Celia’s daughter, you are a part of our family. In this family, there is no such thing as giving a family too much.” She denied with a smile.
Kami: “…”
Celia: “?”
Kami: “I am very happy to know that Alisa managed to get adopted into such a loving family.” She said with a bright smile.
For a while, Kami struggled to stay awake. The room was using magic to have a perfect and relaxing temperature. Which was an extreme difference when compared to her “house” which was cold, windy, and had puddles all over it.
The environment was very soothing to Kami. I don’t know how long that she’s lived this life; I am just glad that we managed to find her. Once the food showed up, Kami wasn’t sleepy any longer. Instead, she was excited, and ate with gusto. Kami must have been starving for a long time… I shall pamper her in Alisa’s stead! It is the least that I could do as her mother-in-law…
