Chapter 70: What now?

(*Celia’s POV*)

We entered the castle with great ease, and we were treated as royalty. Not! Fuckers wouldn’t even let us pass the front fucking gate! Well, it was understandable, as we had no forms of ID at all, and just now showed up in this city.

Yeah, I burned my Guild ID many years ago… That place was almost useless, but with the current tide of monsters, I am sure that it will actually regain some relevance. Which is only thanks to the Creator for deeming them worthy of having a reason to actually exist in this world.

Ria: “Maybe Amelie had the right idea…” She said with a thinking pose.

Celia: “Hm? Ah, that having sex in a maid outfit is arousing, right? I agree.” I reply with a nod.

Ria: “…Yes, but no. I meant that we should just barge in unannounced.” She said with a giggle.

Celia: “As much as I hate being the voice of reason, we should be careful in this place. We have no idea if this queen will be really powerful or not.” I deny.

Ria: “What would you suggest we do, then?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Celia: “We just have to do something crazy to get her attention.” I answer.

Ria: “Like what?” She asked with a head tilt. Cute!

Celia: “Fuck if I know.” I reply with a shrug.

Ria: “…”

With nothing better to do, we decided to explore around this city. It was nowhere near on the same level of our kingdom, but it seemed pretty nice and advanced for this era.

As we walked around, someone “accidentally” bumped into me. I kept everything in my inventory unless I need it, so they weren’t able to steal anything. That didn’t stop me from getting pissed off from being targeted by a pickpocket.

The thief girl ran, so Ria and I followed after her. The thief’s movements were pretty skilled, so she clearly is used to this kind of life. As we rounded a corner, I ducked from a wooden bat aimed at my head.

Celia: “Rude!” I exclaim before killing the person with one of my knifes, who dared to attack me.

He seemed like a piece of shit, so I didn’t even hesitate at all. Yeah, I know not to judge a book by its cover, but as Ria didn’t stop me, he was probably a horrible person. The girl kept running, and didn’t seem to care that her hired help was just easily dealt with.

*Some Time Later.*

Thief: “What the hell kind of nobles are you two!? How can you not only keep up with me, but aren’t even tired at all?” She asked with a confused tone.

The girl clearly didn’t expect us to continue to chase her like this. As she was now backed into a corner, and seemed to be completely out of breath.

Celia: “We aren’t normal nobles, and we are pretty strong.” I reply.

Thief: “Why even come after me? I didn’t take anything!” She exclaimed.

Ria: “That’s because you couldn’t, little thief.” She said with her arms crossed.

Thief: “You rotten nobles! Why can’t you just spare something for the poor!?” She yelled.

Celia: “The poor? What do you mean? Ah, before you ask, we aren’t from this continent. And our kingdom is very prosperous. That goes for nobles and for the common people.” I ask with a curious tone.

Thief: “That so? Empty words, is all that is!” She retorted.

With a shrug, I tossed a bag of Celestium toward her. Said bag had thousands of Orichalcum Celestium in it. That should surely change the lives of the poor. Of course, I am not that stupid to believe that, and this probably won’t work at all. That doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t try to help out, though.

Thief: “This is… are these real?” She asked with an unsure tone.

Celia: “I don’t carry fake Celestium.” I reply.

Ria: “Accept the Celestium and leave. We have other business to attend to.” She advised.

Thief: “Wait!” She yelled.

Celia: “What?” I ask with a head tilt.

Thief: “You should meet my boss.” She replied.

Celia: “Why would we want to meet them?” I reply.

Thief: “The queen of this kingdom is corrupt, but the princess isn’t. Princess June has an organization that is trying to help this kingdom’s people.” She answered.

What? So the queen is shit, and the princess wants to change this place? Now that we’re here in the slums, I can see that this kingdom isn’t all that it cracked up to be…

Slums don’t exist in our kingdom, as everyone is taken care of. Maybe that’s why this place upsets me? Why have so much wealth if you don’t use it to help others?

Sure, spend your money on whatever you want, but if you CAN help someone with it, I would urge you to do so. Morals? Because it’s good? Maybe because it would make you feel get to help someone? Who cares. Hell, I’d say that it’s good for your soul, so there is at least that reason to help.

Ria: “And this princess June is your boss?” She asked.

Thief: “Correct. I’d urge you to meet her. I think that you could be of help to her. And if you have something you need, she might be able to help you out as well.” She replied.

We agreed to go with the girl, and she then led us further into the slums. Specifically, she led us near where the castle is. Over this giant wall is where the queen lives, and yet, just under the castle, is this hell scape of a slum...

Celia: “Come to think of it, who was that man that I killed?” I ask with a curious tone.

Thief: “Hm? Ah, that was Geb.” She replied.

Celia: “Was it bad that I killed Geb?” I ask.

Thief: “What? Hell no! That man always steals my scores, and he is a serial rapist. He attacked you just because you were a woman, and he thought that he could knock you out and have his way with you.” She explained.

Celia: “…”

Oh… Okay, I don’t feel even the slightest bit bad about killing that fucker now. In fact, in some fucked up way, you could say that I did a good thing by killing him. Now that I know Hell is real, I do hope that Geb has “fun” while serving out his time there.

The girl led us to an unassuming shack house. Knocking on the cellar door, she said some kind of passcode, and then it opened up. She urged us to follow her inside, so we did.

Even if this is some elaborate trap, we can handle anything that they throw at us. That doesn’t mean that we didn’t have our guard up, though. Now then, I wonder what this princess will be like? Hopefully she is cute…
