Chapter 75: Rats!

(*Celia’s POV*)

In total, there are only a few nobles that we have yet to kill off. The only problem is that they went into hiding. In a big city like this, there are many places where they could hide. But most of them clearly left this city, and they went to hide elsewhere.

Which is why I am not in the city at the moment, and I am just following a trail of a noble. This noble is actually the worst one, as his crimes were enough to make even me want to torture him to death. But I know that Hell is real, so I won’t burden my soul with such a sin. He will be suffering far more while burning in Hell, after all. Literally!

I am sure that he will end up in the lowest layer of Hell, just from the crimes that we know that he committed. Regardless, I will still have to find and kill him. Rather than a thoroughly thought out escape, this dude just ran away with his tail between his legs.

Eventually, I came across a cave. I have some bad experiences with caves, but I knew that this is where that man had run away to. Or at least, this is one of his temporary shelters. I took out my sword, and I carefully entered the cave.

Quickly, I came across a shivering man. Due to his crimes, I won’t even dignify him with his name. The man was terrified by my appearance. Not because I was scary, or anything like that. Well, I was probably scary to him. As I was clearly here to kill him off.

Man: “So… you’re the one that’s been hunting us?” He asked.

Celia: “Yes, I am. Though, I am not the only one involved.” I reply.

Man: “Fine, I tried my best to run away. But I clearly failed. Unlike those hypocrites, I will not run from my sins. I knew it was wrong, but I did it anyway. I always knew that I would get what is coming to me.” He said with a defeated tone.

Celia: “Giving up so soon? Let me guess, you want to ask something of me, right?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.

Man: “…That is correct. I just wish for a painless death.” He pleaded.

Celia: “You don’t deserve it, but I can just stab you with my soul knife. You see, I am married to a Death Goddess, so if I stab you with it, you will just be sent straight to the afterlife.” I reply.

Man: “That is more than I ask for. Besides, no one truly knows if the afterlife exists.” He replied.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Celia: “Oh, it does. Both Heaven and Hell. Sorry to rain on your parade, but you will end up in Hell.” I say with a laugh.

Man: “…”

Despite my warning, he still let me kill him without resisting at all. And like that, he was dead. Stupidly, I needed to bring his entire body back, just for proof of his death. Luckily, as long as something is dead, I can store it in my inventory, so that is what I did.

With a sigh, I started the long trek back to the city. This dude ran miles away, which was impressive, considering his attire was that of a nobleman. As I kept walking, I got a call from Ria. Of course, since she is my loving wife, I picked up the call right away. Annoyingly, the distance to which she can talk to me is decently limited. But the fantasy phones range is longer, so we have to use it to talk to each other.

Ria: “Celia, did you deal with that last noble?” She asked.

Celia: “I dealt with him, yes. But what do you mean by last noble?” I ask with a head tilt.

Ria: “I have already killed all of the other nobles not on the list. You have his body, right?” she asked.

Celia: “I do. Are we going to deal with April now?” I ask with a curious tone.

Ria: “That was our intention, but the plan has changed.” She replied.

Celia: “What happened?” I ask.

Ria: “Queen April has decided to take the fight to us. Which just means that she is going door to door, trying to find who is responsible for this mess. Luckily, June isn’t suspected by April of being the cause.” She explained.

Celia: “And it looks like they’ve found one perpetrator…” I say with a sigh.

Ria: “Celia?” She said with a concerned tone.

Celia: “Sorry, it looks like I was followed. I have some annoyances to deal with, I’ll talk to you later.” I reply before hanging up on her.

Somehow, despite me being somewhat careful, I ended up being followed. Dammit… I should have turned invisible while tracking that man… Oh well. It’s not like I can’t handle them… As for who I am talking about, it is a group of a hundred knights.

Looking at them, they were clearly knights directly under Queen April. At the very least, they looked both skilled and flashy. What a misuse of tax funds… Though, considering this entire kingdom, I’d say that wasting tax funds isn’t that big of a deal. What was a big deal, was the person who stepped out of the carriage before me.

June: “So, you’re the one that’s been killing the honorable nobles of our kingdom? A trial isn’t even needed. Knights, kill this woman already!” She demanded.

Oh, no… I’ve been betrayed! June stepped out of the carriage, and looked to not even recognize me at all. Have we been played this entire time?…

Ruina: “Stop being dramatic! June is just keeping her cover.” She said with a sigh.

Yeah, I figured. But can’t a girl have some fun? Think about how interesting it would be if June actually betrayed us. It would be funny, at least to me.

Ruina: “…”

June got back into her carriage, and it drove off with her in tow. As for the knights, they all took out their weapons and prepared to attack me. Yeah, I know that I am doing illegal shit, but I am a Princess. Shouldn’t they be more careful when dealing with me? Though, to be fair, I haven’t actually revealed my name at all. I prepared to fight them with a smile on my face, but then something bad happened. They brought forth a captive. And it was someone that I knew. Fuck…
