Chapter 74: I Wasn’t Aware…

(Guinevere’s POV)

Tia mentioned that she had recently finished constructing her aquarium. The entire project was made just to make Celia happy, which I found to be very nice indeed.

Very nice, as Celia’s wives and family truly seem to love her greatly. Such actions, showing your love via wasting such an absurd amount of Credits… is one way to express her love, in my opinion.

I was very busy, so even though Tia invited me to experience it, I hadn’t done so. Even after it was finished for a few years, I hadn’t visited it. Now I have actually had a break, and I decided to explore it.

Celia wasn’t here, that much I could tell. And if she was not around, then there really wasn’t any need for me to take a break. But I did need one. Frankly, I was forced to take a break…

I am sure that Celia’s family would welcome me into their home. It was an estate that I still own, after all. But until Celia marries me, I don’t feel like I am part of their family just yet.

Mena: “Oh! Guinevere!” She said with a happy smile on her face.

Guinevere: “Ah, it is nice to see you, Mena.” I say with a smile of my own.

I had met most of Celia’s family. That is, the ones that she had managed to bring back. Mena was one of Celia’s daughters. I bring this up, as now she was giving me a hug…

Guinevere: “…”

Zia: “…”

Mena oddly already saw me as one of her mothers, even though I haven’t married Celia yet. This is the true reason why I don’t go to visit them. I feel like I should be an outsider, but they treat me like family.

Much Talking Later.

After meeting them, I meet Ria’s gaze, but something was off about her. Thankfully, she was willing to explain why I felt this way. I just wish she didn’t also reveal such a thing to me about Celia…

Zia: “I understand what you’re feeling, Guinevere. But you can’t do anything to save Celia.” She said with a stern tone.

Guinevere: “Zia… Are you not aware of who Sava is!?” I exclaim.

Zia: “Of course I know about her. Don’t make any mistakes, Guinevere. I am far older than you.” She replied.

Guinevere: “…”

Zia: “Don’t think about overworking yourself so that you can go back to living. Even if you do, by the time you’ve managed to earn your revival, Celia will be saved.” She explained.

I know that… Once again, due to me being dead, I cannot help Celia in any way at all. Mena… I knew that she was a little sad. Celia being kidnapped… Mena must also feel helpless. Just like how I am feeling…

Later.

My talk with them wasn’t too heavy. I didn’t want to ruin Mena’s fun, after all. Such a good daughter like her more than deserves to have a fun day out with one of her mothers.

In the end, it mostly boiled down to Ria, or rather, Zia, convincing me to not do something crazy. She ensured that she and God were doing the best they could to save Celia, and I just needed to focus on my life.

God: “Feel helpless, Guinevere?” She said with a smug expression.

Guinevere: “…”

God, huh? It was only thanks to Celia that this woman was now taking her job seriously. Since that whole “war” ended, I have seen more of God than any other time that I have been in Heaven.

Guinevere: “I have never known you to be the one that likes to kick people when they’re down, God.” I reply with a scoff.

God: “Kicking? Ah, my apologies if I was rude. I was just scolded by my wife, and I clearly was taking out my anger on you.” She said with a remorseful tone.

Guinevere: “…”

I have never known her to be one to apologize, either. Why does Celia have such amazing effects on people? We need to make sure that Celia never meets a research crazy higher being… If she did, that higher being would study her for millions of years, I am sure.

God: “My intention was not to upset you, Guinevere. Instead, I have an offer for you.” She said with a serious tone.

Guinevere: “An offer? You’re sound much like your daughter…wife, right now, God.” I reply with a laugh.

God: “Ah, she was always a trickster, that much is true. But my offer is very much in your best interests.” She assured.

Guinevere: “What is the offer? You have made me truly curious…” I ask.

God: “Heaven has scammed you, and I am deeply sorry about that.” She said with a remorseful tone, and with a bow.

Guinevere: “…”

What does that mean? When have I been scammed?…

God: “You seem confused… Let me explain. There are no requirements to be revived. None at all.” She replied.

Guinevere: “…”

God: “This system was put in place, because I didn’t care about running Heaven. Instead, all I have to do is snap my fingers, and anyone can be revived. In reality, all I need to do is recreate a living body for them.” She explained.

Guinevere: “Why have you kept this from me for so long?” I ask, trying to hold back my anger.

God: “I was lazy, there is no other excuse for it. Nor will I make an excuse for it. Since Celia fixed my ways, I have been going through and reviving those that have been waiting longer than you.” She answered.

Guinevere: “So… I am just next in line, then?” I assume.

God: “Not at all. Currently, you have well over a few hundred million people ahead of you.” She denied with a shake of her head.

Guinevere: “…”

To think that I would be given two shocking revelations today… I wouldn’t say that my work was pointless, as it helped many people. But it hurts to know that I was tricked by God and Heaven…

God: “And this is where my offer comes into play.” She said with a smile.

Guinevere: “You have kept me at the edge of my seat this whole time…” I reply with a sigh.

God: “I know, I know… Look, I greatly oversimplified the process of reviving someone.” She replied with a nervous expression.

Guinevere: “What is the actual process, then?” I ask.

God: “To revive someone, it isn’t as simple as giving them a remade body. Souls are heavily detailed, and their vessels must fit them perfectly. To do such a thing takes a lot of time and my power.” She answered.

Guinevere: “How long does it take, on average, to revive someone?” I reply with a curious tone.

God: “The fastest that I have ever done it… was six months. The time investment wouldn’t have been a problem. That is, if only I didn’t let so many people pile up and up…” She said with a groan.

Guinevere: “God, could you please tell me your offer now? Is it something to do with Celia?” I plead.

God: “I cannot bump you up fast enough so that you can go save Celia. That isn’t my offer, no. Rather, I am giving you an opportunity to be the next hundredth person in line to be revived.” She replied.

Guinevere: “And I have to do something to be granted that position, don’t I?” I assume.

God: “Correct. Basically, I just need you to help with the revival process. If you lend me your power, the speed at which I can revive people will greatly increase.” She proposed.

Guinevere: “I accept. But do know that we all require further reparations for how horribly long that you’ve tricked us for.” I agree, but scold her.

God: “Of course. But such reparations will only be given once I have revived everyone that desires it.” She replied.

My negotiations with God went well, and soon I will be helping her deal with a task that she had neglected for millions of years. I might not be revived by the time Celia is saved, but at least I can do something more that she will praise me for. I miss her so much…
