Chapter 22: Worst Place!!!

(Celia’s POV)

Did I get scammed by that knight? Surely not… If I didn’t, then why the hell did this happen?

That sound was a sword cutting through the air. If I didn’t dodge it in time, I would have been probably greatly injured me, and the sound would have been squshy and bone breaky. Not fun at all… Ah! I scammed myself!!!

Currently, I was facing a large group of very skilled women. What kind of women? I have no idea. They looked to be human, but obviously weren’t. The group didn’t wish to kill me, instead; they wanted to capture me.

Rewinding back to before this happened would be somewhat pointless. As I can just explain it quickly. I was fighting at the moment; you know…

Anyway, I was just joking about the knight woman scamming me. In reality, I ignored her directions. Why would I go to the capital? I would probably need coin to get in, and being there sounds so booring.

As such, I decided to walk in a barren direction, clearly opposite of that small town and the capital. This little trip last a few days until I finally came to a town.

Due to my Nano Machines, I actually haven’t needed to eat yet. And probably won’t for a decent while. The town was very, very odd.

But I saw the signs, and I knew what this place was. The people weren’t sickly, but they had no livestock and were skinny. This town was absolutely in the middle of nowhere. There were no roads leading to this place, either.

This was a telltale sign of the people here being cannibals. There weren’t any elderly people, nor were there children. In fact, they most likely were easy targets to be eaten by their follow townspeople.

No livestock, no access to the outside world, and no children or elderly. I have been in this situation before. Which was why I decided to stay in the town. Since it was so remote, I honestly had no idea if they practiced killing and eating random travelers.

Talking up some of the remaining young people, they willingly explained the history of this place. Well… they avoided the part where they eat people… Anyway, it was originally a mining town, which was why it was so well made.

The problem was that the mine went dry just a few years into operation. They built the town far before they realized that the mine didn’t have much resources in it. This left most of the people stranded, and with no support.

Huddling up in my room, I waited with bated breath to when they would try to kill me. Oddly, no one tried to enter my inn room the entire night. I was even given a room for free, which was why I assumed they’d try to kill me.

Blocking the door, I went to sleep soundly. But when I woke up, I heard shouts and banging on my door. The shouts weren’t coming from outside the door, though. They were coming from outside the window. At that time, I could smell fire and burning things, as well.

I guess that rewinding to the time that I met the people that I am fighting at the moment would be okay. Alright, so… there was banging on my door. Moving the chair that I used to block the door handle, I opened it up.

Revealed from behind the door was a woman dressed up in well-fitted combat gear, which allowed for a lot of movement. I mean, that’s what I thought at the time. And fighting them now makes me realize that I was right on this matter.

Woman: “You don’t look like a resident of this town.” She summarized.

Celia: “That I am not, no.” I reply.

Woman: “And your arm… Did they take it?” She asked.

Celia: “No. I lost it fighting a Rot Wyvern. Did you mention them taking it? I guess that means that I was right about them being cannibals.” I answer.

Woman: “You knew that they were cannibals, but still stayed here anyway?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Celia: “I am confident in my ability to fight. And I needed a place to stay for the night.” I reply with a shrug.

The shrug made me slightly sad… As I have just now realized that I could only do a half shrug. With my stump and all, it just doesn’t feel right. I wish that I didn’t notice this… Eh, I’ll just blame this on the cannibals for no reason at all!

Woman: “Hmm… Interesting. Well, the fires are controlled, and the “people” will soon all be executed. Just wait in this room until we’re done, and you will be fine.” She said, walking out of the room, about to close the door.

She stopped in her tracks, though. She then let out a groan, and the woman turned back around to face me. Uh, oh… Did I do something wrong? Hey, I doubt it. But you never know. Maybe I offended her somehow?…

Woman: “Girl, you will need to come with us.” She said with a serious tone.

Celia: “Why’s that?” I ask with a head tilt.

Woman: “No questions. Just follow us willingly…” Her words were cut off.

Why? Because one of her group, another woman dressed somewhat the same, attacked me. She came from the hallway, and she was very fast. Her intent was to injure, not to kill. But I still dodged, anyway.

Honestly, I was going to leave with them willingly. I was always more interested in doing things that were entertaining. Why would I stick around in this town, or not go with them? But I hate being attacked for no reason.

After dodging the attack from her sword, I jumped out the window, not caring about any cuts that I had got in the process. Around me were fires and corpses strewn about the place. It wasn’t a pretty sight.

But I didn’t really mourn for those that they killed. Humans cannot eat other humans to survive. It will just make them sick to death. In fact, it is a mercy to kill them this early. Better than slowly dying in bed, in my opinion.

Regardless, I paid no more mind to the town, and set off running into the forest. Which was how I ended up fighting five women at once. Five women at the same time? I’ll have you know that my limit is four… Why do they even want to take me for? Eh, I’ll find out later. Right now, I am having fun fighting them!!!
