Chapter 79: Chess is far More Entertaining Than Fighting Worthless Ants.
(Celia’s POV)
Celia: “Ah, don’t do that!” I said with a hurried tone.
June: “Why not?” She asked with a head tilt, still holding the chess piece up in the air.
Celia: “Because then I can check you in one move.” I answer, showing her exactly how I would win.
June: “Oh…” She replied, quickly putting the chess piece back down, and then thinking about another move.
Slash!
Countless men had tried to stop our little game, but their efforts were fully and utterly mute as can be. When they got close, I would just use wind magic to cut them to pieces, making sure not to get any blood or gore on us, the chessboard, or the table and chairs.
Charlie: “…”
The guild leader was now terrified, and I was fully empathic about his situation. The man had led his entire guild into a trap of his own making. Once they entered the area where we were waiting, I set up a barrier.
Charlie and his men now couldn’t escape, and they also couldn’t do much to fight back, either. Of course, most of those that have tried to kill us… were the small fry.

I could sense that Charlie and the man beside him were somewhat strong. I already peeped at Charlie’s Status, and since he was the leader, I didn’t need to bother to look at the other one’s Status.
Thud!
More deaths happened, but June and I were fully focused on the game. In fact, she didn’t even try to kill anyone at all. Perhaps she thought that I would protect her, or that these men had no real way to hurt us.
June: “Celia… I know that I sound like a child… but I really want to win. I am so close as well! What… what next moves should I go with to win?” She asked with an embarrassed tone.
Celia: “Miracle might be good at this game, you know. You should have her teach you once this is all over.” I reply, placing a piece down.
June: “…”
Celia: “Okay… Unfortunately, I ended up seeing you as another daughter to me. Move that piece here, then move that one there, and finally check me with that piece.” I carefully explained.
June: “I won!” She said with a happy smile.
Celia: “Yes, you did indeed. 99% of the game was won with your skills and effort, and in the last part, you needed my help, as you were very stressed out. Good job!” I say with a praising tone.
I was very happy for her, actually. After getting to know her more through this game, I had accidentally developed a mother-daughter relationship with June. If not a mother to her, I am, at the very least, a very motherly friend to June.
Charlie: “Now that your game is over… Will you two actually fight?” He asked, with a tone which was seething with rage.
Celia: “Done? No, no. June must win a game with her own effort fully first, and then we will fight.” I deny, using magic to reset the chessboard.
Charlie: “What the fuck… this is just torture!” He expressed with an even more angry tone.
Celia: “Torture? You seem to not understand this, Charlie. Until you force us to get up, your lives can carry on. But the moment that June wins a game fully on her own merit… then your executions will be carried out.” I explained with a grim tone, before giving June the chance to do the first move.
Charlie: “…”
