Chapter 11: Sleepless.
(*Celia’s POV*)
Amelie would randomly wake up and start crying, to which I had to give a hug until she fell back to sleep. This went on for an entire week, but luckily, it seems that Goddesses don’t need much sleep. Even though I’ve stayed awake by her side this entire time, I do not even feel a little bit tired.
Amelie: “Celia?” She asked with an unsure tone.
Celia: “Yes, Mom?” I reply.
It seems that she is finally back to her original self. I’ve never known Amelie to be the type of person to end up like this, so I am very concerned about what could have happened to her…
Amelie: “Ah, I see, so that’s what happened…” She said with a thinking pose.
Celia: “May I ask what happened to you, Mom? You were in a terrible mental state for an entire week.” I ask with a concerned tone.
Amelie: “…I almost died…” She answered.
Celia: “…”
Amelie ensured me that as far as she knows, the others are fine. She went out to that continent to gain levels. And she went alone. Specifically, she left for that land a few months after I evolved. As I expected, she didn’t really have information about my the current status of our family…
Celia: “You almost died? But weren’t you already immortal, even before this evolution?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Amelie: “I was, yes. But I encountered a terrible monster.” She replied with a shutter.
Celia: “What kind of monster?” I ask.
Amelie: “I didn’t get a chance to inspect its Status, but it was some kind of lanky and tall monster that somehow was able to kill immortals.” She explained.
Celia: “That is troublesome… Did you kill it? No. More importantly, how did you end up in that state?” I ask while holding her hand.
Amelie: “I did kill it, but once the fight was over, I was nothing more than a torso. Luckily, Ruina informed me that killing it gave me enough levels for me to reach max level. As such, she made me evolve since I couldn’t do so on my own.” She answered.
Celia: “If you killed it, then why did you end up like that?” I ask once more, as she didn’t fully answer me.
Amelie: “I’ve almost died many times in my life, Celia. That is, before I was immortal. One thing that would never change was that I didn’t care if I died or not. But after meeting everyone, I felt the fear of death for the very first time. To think that I would be separated from my family, well, it was the most terrifying thing that I have ever experienced.” She explained with a sad expression.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Celia: “…”
I get what she means… I was the same before as well. Frankly, the only reason that I progressed so fast was because I did not care if I died or not. That wasn’t the case anymore, as dying and not being able to see my family again is a personal fear of mine…
Celia: “I’m glad you survived, Amelie, and I am very proud of you. Just know, if you did die, I don’t care how I would do it, or how long it would take, but I would have gotten you back.” I say with a warm tone as I hugged her once more.
Amelie nodded her head, but wanted me to continue hugging her. I always thought that Yona and Amelie were strong brick walls, who I would never really have to worry about. But that was clearly wrong, and I will do better for them in the future.
After hugging her for a while, Amelie was finally calm. I used cleaning magic on her, and I still had some food to feed her with. I sat here the entire time, not even bothering to eat, so I was somewhat hungry as well. Once we ate, we left my apartment.
Amelie: “What is this place?” She asked with a curious tone.
Celia: “This is a dimension of angels. They’re the one who will do the exams and tests.” I explain.
Marni: “Ah, Celia! I can see what your mother is feeling better.” She said with a happy tone after she flew down and over to us.
Amelie: “Yes, I went through something horrible before coming here, but luckily, my daughter was able to comfort me through it.” She said with a smile.
Celia: “Now that everyone in this batch is awake, will the exams and tests start soon?” I ask with a curious tone.
Marni: “I don’t think so… You, Amelie, and that Insect Goddess aren’t the only odd ones out of the bunch. It seems that we have got a lot of interesting people this time. It will take a little while for them to all settle down.” She explained.
Now that the Creator isn’t here, I honestly think that I just have a mix of extremely good and bad luck… I feel like shit just randomly happens wherever I end up at. These kinda things have happened far too many times to just be random chance…
Celia: “That’s fine. Marni, could I ask you to show my mother around this dimension? I ended up staying awake the entire time, and even though I am not tired, I would like to get some rest.” I ask.
Amelie: “This place does seem very interesting, so I would love a tour.” She said with an excited tone.
Marni: “Of course! I would love to take you on a tour!” She also said with an excited tone.
Without even saying goodbye, Marni dragged Amelie off with her on the tour. Amelie has always been the curious sort that loves exploring, so I am sure that she will enjoy this tour. Even if it will end up being somewhat short.
Cimra: “Celia, I am sorry that everything has been so delayed.” She said with a remorseful tone after spotting me.
Celia: “Eh, it isn’t that bad. Let me tell you, surviving Hell was a nightmare. Having to wait a while isn’t that bad at all in comparison.” I reply with a giggle.
Cimra: “I have never had the chance to visit any Hell, so I have to take your words as truth.” She replied with a laugh.
Celia: “I was about to go to sleep, but is there anything that you need help with, Cimra?” I ask.
Cimra: “There is… something. But I would feel far too bad about asking it of you, as you’ve helped us out way too much already.” She answered.
Celia: “Is it urgent?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Cimra: “It is in regards to what we’ve been talking about, except, flipped. I need to deliver an item to Heaven.” She explained.
Celia: “Huh? Isn’t this Heaven?” I say with a confused expression.
Cimra: “No, it isn’t. Unlike how each dimension has their own Hell, there is only one Heaven, which connects to every dimension. Ah, and it isn’t urgent.” She answered.
Celia: “Alright, then I will deliver it when I wake up.” I reply with a smile.
Cimra: “I would very much appreciate that, Celia. When you’re ready, come to my office and I’ll give you the package.” She replied before I waved her goodbye.
I then went back into my apartment to get some sleep. I feel like I’ve been sleeping a lot lately, but I have been doing a bunch of work, so I don’t think that it is anything bad. And just like that, I fell face first onto my bed, and I oddly and quickly fell asleep.
