Chapter 63: Why This?…

(*Sarah’s POV*)

One day, when playing with my little sister, I felt something was off… Our parents were always horrible people, so I ended up taking care of my little sister, Celia.

Despite only being 13 years old, I was very responsible for my age. On that fateful day, I excused myself, and went into my room. In the next second, I was in a completely different place…

No, it was clearly a different world. Celia always did like it when I read her those Isekai novels… As such, I knew what had happened. Well, I don’t know why it happened, but I at least could rationalize it.

For now, I just needed to survive this place… Looking around, I seemed to be a decently safe area. Well, I thought that it was… I heard a sudden shaking coming from a bush…

With no weapons on me, I picked up a vaguely pointy looking stick. If I am supposed to be an Isekai protagonist, then I surely can’t die at the beginning, right?…

Luckily, once the monster came out from the bush, it was just a harmless Slime monster. It’s kinda cute… Ah! Not cute, not cute at all! The slime monster ignored me, and went over to a small woodland creature.

I thought that it was going to play with it, but instead, it swallowed the creature whole, and said creature quickly dissolved within the Slime… I have to run away from this thing!

*An Hour Later.*

Thankfully, the Slime was slow, or it didn’t bother to follow me. Maybe I am too big for it to eat? Let’s not think about things like that… I took shelter within a hole of a big tree.

While in the hole, I thought of Celia… Now that I am gone, no one will be able to help her… Celia will probably end up becoming quite jaded. That is, assuming that she manages to survive that household…

No! I can’t just wallow in self pity! I need to find a way back to my world! I am not like those Isekai protagonists, that can just abandon their world. Unlike them, who usually have no attachments to their original world, I have Celia back in mine.

Now, I just have to survive this world, learn magic, and then go back home! Even better, if I can still use magic and stuff when I get back, I could take over the world, and forever protect Celia! Alright… That would be going too far… But at the very least, I will be able to protect Celia from our parents. Now I just have to work…

*Many Years Later.*

People in this world are very shitty… No one would help me out, and I haven’t made any progress at all. Even though it has been years since I came to this world…

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Unfortunately, I ended up near a very, very poor kingdom. To make ends meet, I had to do stupid tasks for some Guild. The currency of this world was called Celestium.

Due to my age, and how weak I am, I was only able to do very basic and easy requests. Said requests only rewarded me with a few Bronze Celestium. Which wasn’t even enough for one night at an Inn…

Basically, I would spend most of the day doing requests, and then turn them in, get a very small amount of food, and sleep outside in the forest. The forest around this kingdom was decently safe, so sleeping in it was fine.

Currently, I was trying to go to sleep while resting on a tree branch. Can I even go on like this? I am nowhere close to my goal of returning home, and I doubt that I can even make it halfway through that goal…

*Years Later.*

I was almost an adult at this point, around 17 years old. Stupidly, even though I should be considered gutter trash, the prince of this stupid kingdom took a liking to me. Frankly, I didn’t know if I even like men, but I did not like him at the very least.

No. He wasn’t fat, ugly, or anything like that. He wasn’t that handsome, but he at least looked like a noble. Unfortunately, I wasn’t intent on marrying him, but he wanted it more than anything…

As a powerful person would do in this era, he abused his power. Making us married on paper. Even still, he tried to get me to live with him, but I kept living outside. He had knights follow me around everywhere. Either for protection or to watch me, I never really found out.

Despite him being in the position to force me to do anything that he wanted me to do, he didn’t. Or at least, I thought that he didn’t… The prince was smart, waaaay too smart for such an era. I feel bad about calling most people stupid in this time period, but they weren’t, really. I mean to say that the prince was very intelligent.

He almost had me, in truth. The prince only needed to keep up his kind gestures for another year, and I might have fallen for him. Fortunately for me, he decided to reveal the truth.

The truth was that he was a terrible person. He only showed me a facade this entire time. He revealed this to me, as I was imprisoned in the castle dungeon. He said that I had “failed” and since I rejected him, I will now spend the rest of my life in a cold cell…

*A Year Later.*

An odd woman visited my cell. She didn’t seem human, and probably wasn’t. I had no idea why or how she got here, but I just hope that she can get me out of this prison… Somehow, I haven’t gone insane, even though I have been here for a year… Actually, I’d say that I was about 19 at this point, so maybe it was actually two years?…

Unknown Woman: “Tell me, child… Do you want to live?” She asked.

Sarah: “Yes…” I reply with great difficulty.

I was barely ever given water, only enough for me to not die. That shitty prince was true to his word about making me suffer…

Unknown Woman: “Alright then. I shall send you one year into the future. You will end up on a dangerous continent, but you should be fine.” She replied.

Sarah: “Why?…” I ask with a head tilt.

Unknown Woman: “Someone will find and then take care of you by accident. Of course, it will be an accident that I make happen. Or rather, I am just putting you in an area that they will end up in.” She explained.

Sarah: “How can I trust your words?” I ask with an unsure tone.

Unknown Woman: “I assure you, she is someone that you know, and you’re connected to her by fate. Have fun with your new life. I am sure that you will enjoy it. My dear Sarah.” She said with a smile, before she snapped her fingers.

Now, I was in the middle of a huge forest… How was someone supposed to find me in this kind of place!? Dammit… I should have negotiated better…

As I thought this, ten Goblins came out of the forest and dashed over to me. I thought that I was supposed to live!? Whoever is supposed to meet me here, hurry up, please!…
