Chapter 45: Hard Reset.

(*Celia’s POV*)

I ran until I couldn’t run anymore. Catching my breath, I was happy to see that no one followed me. Lacking my powers, I wouldn’t be able to tell if some were following me in secret, though. Yona did pull a trick like that once before, after all…

With hesitation, I tried going invisible. Much to my chagrin, I couldn’t do so at all. That damn Creator had removed this ability as well, it seems… With a sigh, I looked around my environment.

Celia: “…”

Luckily, even with my running, I was as quiet as a mouse. Not far from my position was a bandit camp. I mean, they truly look like bandits. The camp was barebones, so I could see it fully. In a makeshift cage on a carriage, was two women.

Their pointed ears made it clear that they were elves. My elvish was still fresh in my mind, so I should be able to communicate with them. Taking a look at my new and stolen dagger, I was happy to realize that my knowledge of how to fight was still good.

Didn’t I make a wish about wanting to fight simple enemies once more, like bandits? Did the Creator hear my wish, and grant it?…

Solia was right about not relying on the System too much. After kneeling behind a bush for an hour, I was confident that there were only thirty-five bandits in this camp. If the cute elves weren’t enough to get me to spring into action, the food that I caught a glance of was more than enough.

I might die trying to fight them, but it is better than dying from starvation. Gripping my dagger, I calmly walked over to the bandit camp. It was still broad daylight out, so it was very easy for them to see me walking in their direction.

Bandit A: “A child?… Hm… a very pretty one at that. Boys, it looks like we got another piece of merchandise to sell.” He gloated.

Bandit B: “We have to catch her first, you fool! Kids are pretty fast when they want to be.” He advised.

Celia: “If you want to continue living your horrible lives, then you’d be wise to run away.” I say with a serious tone.

Not caring about my warning at all, one of the men walked up to me and swung a punch at my face. Dodging the punch with ease, I used my dagger to cut his arm off. My body and Stats shouldn’t have been enough to do this, but the dagger was oddly magical. Behind my swing came a wind that helped me easily cut through the man’s thick arm.

Bandit A: “Aaaaa!! My fucking arm!!” He exclaimed.

As the man kneeled on the ground, crying in pain, I walked close to him and severed his head. Which put an end to his cries of pain. Like I set off a firework, the rest of the bandits sprung into action.

*Some Time Later.*

It was a hard fight, I’ll admit. My Stats aren’t up to par with my movement and knowledge. But due to how I know how to fight without relying on the System, I could still survive this situation. It was just very, very hard to do.

Celia: “…Damn…” I say while trying to catch my breath.

Sitting on one of the bodies of these bandits, I was catching my breath. My patchwork clothes were now covered in blood, and so was my exposed body. Frankly, I am sure that I look decently scary.

Looking at those elves, they looked surprised, but happy that I managed to kill off so many people. Even though I am a child.

Unlike earlier, my HP Stat was very, very low. And this time I actually had wounds to show for it. My body ached all over, but it wasn’t as painful as having my family taken from me. Gritting my teeth, I cut off some cloth from the bandit’s clothes to cover my bleeding wounds. Definitely not sanitary, but it is better than nothing.

Walking over to the cage on the carriage, I used my dagger to break the lock. With the door swinging open, the two women didn’t seem to want to get out. Do they have a fetish for imprisonment? Nah, they’re probably scared of me.

Celia: “You two are free now, you know?” I say with a raised eyebrow, while speaking in Elvish.

From their reaction on their cute faces, I’d say that they speak the same language that I know of. Which is good.

Elven Woman A: “Child, why do you speak our language?” She asked with a curious tone.

Celia: “I just can. Why? Am I not allowed to?” I reply.

Elven Woman B: “No, no! There isn’t anything wrong with you knowing. Here, we’ll heal and clean you.” She said with a smile.

Suddenly, I felt very warm. My clothes, as shitty as they were, now seem to shine. Or, at least, they look like the patchwork is an intended style, and not due to it having been made with limited materials.

Celia: “Thanks.” I say with a smile.

Talking with the girls for a bit, they soon left. They said that they needed to get back to their kingdom. They offered to take me with them, but I said no. I am long since passed trusting random strangers nowadays…

Once they left, I walked around the little bandit camp to find some food. With some beef jerky and very hard bread in hand, I went into a tent to eat. By the time I finished killing the bandits, the sun was almost going down.

Despite it being a decently bad idea to sleep in a place with a bunch of fresh bodies, I was at my limit already. If some random monster comes along to eat me while I sleep, oh well. Taking a bite of the jerky, it was practically tasteless.

Struggling to stomach such shitty food, I am beyond pissed off about how that bitch didn’t even let me keep my storage… The bread wasn’t any better. With great reluctance, I finished off the small bit of food.

Falling back onto the tent, I closed my eyes to go to sleep. Actually, it might be better if some monster comes and eats me while I am sleeping. No, wait! I have to save my family! I can’t die! Even with these thoughts, I still managed to fall asleep in the end.
