Chapter 32: Mena.

(*Mena’s POV*)

When Celia told me about how I originally died before she changed history, all of the memories came flooding back to me. Oddly, I was like a zombie before that shitty noble accidentally killed me.

After I died, I instantly remembered Celia’s promise to me. Even more odd, was that I was able to go through the mirror, and go to her academy. Seeing the place already in ruins, was kinda funny.

To think that they would revamp this section of the academy in my time, after they long since abandoned it, was odd. I was even able to hang out around her academy. Before waiting for a few days until I could find Celia, I stayed invisible.

Upon finding her, I was angry that she forgot her promise to me. But really, it was most likely due to history changing, that caused her to forget about it until she saw me again.

My rage was quickly calmed down, as Celia genuinely acted and seemed absolutely remorseful for forgetting about me. Soon after, she would even battle a dangerous foe, just to give me a new body.

At that time, I had already known that Celia had done things for me that I could never repay her for. But it wasn’t enough for her to leave it at that, she had to do more for me.

One night, and even though it was many months ago, I still remember it vividly, some assassins broke into our estate and tried to kill us. Luckily, I was still able to use my ghostly wraith powers, so I was able to kill the ones that tried to kill me.

Yes, I’ve killed people from time to time to survive as a wraith, but as a ghost, I truly had no humanity at all. Just remembering all the people that I killed, is something that will forever haunt me. Sure, I never killed anyone in this timeline, but I did in the original one.

As such, when I killed the assassins, I was in great shock. Their bodies that were strewn around the room in pieces, gave me chills just looking at them. Celia soon barged into my room, sword in hand, clearly here to save me.

Although she was late, it did not matter at all. Just seeing her come to save me, and that she cared about me at least that much, made me very happy. I wanted to thank her, but my mouth refused to open. She then gave me a hug, and allowed me to cry on her.

Parents… Weren’t something that I’ve truly had. Sure, I had a mother and a father, but they shouldn’t be classified as parents, as they did not treat me like their child. I was just a tool, and my only true way out of that household, was to go to a good academy.

With hard work, I was able to make it into one such academy. And without relying on my family name to do so. I was beyond happy, but such happiness was cut short. As some spoiled noble shoved me, which ended up with me falling out of a window to my death.

I did not truly blame her for my death, as she was just an idiot, and what happened was an accident. If I truly hated her, I could have just killed her before going into the past to find Celia. But I didn’t, most likely because I hadn’t been a ghost long, so my humanity still remained.

All of this is to say, when Celia suggested becoming my mother, I was filled with the greatest happiness that I have ever experienced. I honestly thought that she was joking, but she was absolutely serious about her suggestion.

What such a role would entail for Celia and I, I didn’t know at the time. But I truly did not expect for it to be so amazing. Celia treated me like her real daughter, as if I was born from her or her wives. What’s more, her wives treated me like their daughter as well.

Only a few months into this relationship, and I knew that every terrible thing that I went through, was just so that I could be finally rewarded with such an amazing life. Or at least, thinking about my painful past that way, makes it easier to stomach.

Celia’s mother’s, oddly she had a few of them, all treated me like their grandchild as well. After I first met them, I realized something. This love and care was what I was robbed of. But I don’t regret my past anymore, as my suffering led to this point in my life. This is truly the first time that I have ever been happy.

One night, I was spending time in the living room with them all. Despite neither of them really drinking alcohol, Ria liked it, and I accidentally ended up drinking some of it. I couldn’t handle my alcohol at all, so I ended up crying, and telling them all of my grievances in my life.

Despite being drunk, I didn’t whine to them so that they could magically fix all my problems. I guess that my drunken self just wanted to rant to someone. Most of the things that I ranted about, weren’t anything that they could change. But one was…

That morning, I was woken up by everyone in the estate wishing me a happy birthday. I have never celebrated my birthday before, which was one of the things that I cried about to them.

I was beyond happy! No one has even told me happy birthday before either. They spent the entire day with me, and Celia and her wives slept in the same bed with me that night. I was happy, happy that someone would care about me this much. The cake was amazing too!

But the next morning, I was woken up once again… They knew my true age, not counting when I was a wraith, I was 18 years of age. Celia said that they would celebrate each birthday that I missed out on.

Celia and her family were true to their words, and they did just that. Those eighteen days were the happiest days of my life so far. Frankly, the idea that even more happy days will follow those, gives me an indescribably large amount of happiness.

Each birthday was unique as well, and so were the various gifts I received each day. My room was now neatly filled with various outfits, all of which would take me many years to wear each one of them just once.

On my last birthday, I received a gift that I couldn’t get just yet. Apart from the actual physical gifts on that day, Celia suggested a future gift for me. That was, walking her and her wives down the aisle when they finally get officially married. That is, only if I wanted to.

How could I not want such a gift? They have given me far more than I can ever possibly repay. And each day with them is a gift on its own. On the day of their marriage, I will walk them down the aisle with a bright smile on my face. I will show the world that these amazing women are my mother’s!

Now then… just how long will I have to wait for that to happen? Most likely, it will probably only happen after the war with the Elves is over. Due to that stupid Elf queen, we had to move to Yona’s castle… What a bother…
