Chapter 751: [War in the Mortal World (2)]

“I will surely back you up, Big Sis!”

Ye Yueshing’s daughter; Ye Shishi also came over with a cheerful smile. She was holding almost a meter-long Anti-Material rifle, modified using the fusion of magic and science. It was a gift personally created for her by Allen, and so she takes care of it as if it was her own child, and had never left her side, despite having a much more powerful weapon available.

Although unlike the others, she has yet to have an official title or nickname, she was one of the elites of the Sniper Team and with her good timing and precision, she was able to take a position in the team as one of the youngest first-class Marksmen. Some even said that it would not be long when she would be officially entering the World Stage.

“Thank you,”

Tang Yu smiled warmly and hugged the little girl. She really likes this girl, and even considered her as her own little sister.

“I will leave my back to you then!”

“Yes! Leave it to me!”

Ye Shishi excitedly replied.

Tang Yu will be the leader of the Cleaning Group.

‘Cleaning’ battlefield was extremely dangerous because they will be leaving the asylum of the City Wall and directly confronts the enemies. Sometimes, there would be injuries even with their high-level items and weapons. After all, even though most of the monsters had retreated and run away. However, there would still be a lot of monsters staying in the vicinity. Some were injured, while others hiding and sneaking for an ambush.

After talking with them for a few minutes, Tang Yu turned around and faced her squad.

"Be prepared to depart. Open your weapon system, and make sure no monsters could break our formation. After the battlefield is cleared, we will immediately retreat. Am I understood?"

Cleaning the battlefield is extremely important. Not only to pick up materials and spoils, but a messy battlefield would also just become a hindrance in the next wave of monsters as well as in the way of setting up new traps for the Trap Battalion. Especially if they piled up like hills as it would greatly affect the vision of any warriors that surveyed the battlefield. Furthermore, the corpses might also be used by other monsters, which is also troublesome.

In the past life, they also had a lot of trouble because of this. Not only they rot and can cause diseases when left alone, but monsters also take advantage of this by hiding within the corpses. That is why Mia and the others didn't dare to leave the battlefield messy. A single mistake could change the outcome of this war.

"Understood!"

The armored soldiers uniformly shouted as they put on their helmets. They look like modern soldiers holding guns but their armors greatly reminiscent of the time of the Greek and Roman warriors.

"Open the gate!"

Tang Yu shouted and signaled before she started walking in front. The metal gate of the City Wall slowly rose. As if they smelt the delicious scent of food, the monsters that were vigilantly loitering around the shades of trees turned their eyes in the direction of the door.

Tatatatata!

"Fire!"

The machine guns on the two watchtowers at each side of the large gate began to unload their ammunition. The orange light split countless bodies of monsters and beasts as it shredded the already crippled body into more pieces. However, it was futile as the waves of monsters howled and rushed to the opened gate.

"Charge!"

The team in magical armors formed a triangle, protecting the cleaners in the middle. They then ripped a hole in the sea of monsters.

“Disgusting Monsters!”

The shoulder of Tang Yu who was at the forefront moved a little. Her expression turned cold. Then from who knows where, a sword instantly appeared in her hands. The sound of fire igniting could be heard, and the magical sword, [Beast Slayer] one of her signature blades was completely engulfed in a golden flame, emitting intense heat.

At the same time, Tang Yu’s wrist turned, and the [Beast Slayer] turned into a seemingly poisonous viper and stabbed towards the beast that had pounced at her in a tricky manner.

Both the beast and Tang Yu moved extremely fast. When the sharp claws of the Tiger-like Monster beast were about to hit the [Beast Slayer], Tang Yu immediately displayed the reason why she was called the [Phantom Dancer]- she was moving her feet like they were made of water and her body like she was the most flexible tiger out there, evading the attack. She avoided the monster’s claws in a strange manner…seemingly ghastly, like a ghost or a phantom.

Then, after ending her dance, the [Beast Slayer] stabbed forward like a thunderbolt, impaling the belly of the beast. The blazing sharp sword moved upwards and cut through the Monster’s body in half. The [Beast Slayer] was like a hot knife piercing through butter. There’s no resistance at all, even though the monster’s bones and the flesh should have been enhanced greatly that not even normal bullets could pierce through it. And yet, in front of the [Beast Slayer] its toughness and defense are almost non-existent.

Immediately afterward, blood started flowing out like a fountain.

Rooooarrr!!!!

The monster let out a final scream before falling down to the ground, twitching and then dead. Tang Yu’s sword didn’t require any sword skills. Most importantly, her sword, while strange and tricky, was fast. Extremely fast. Not only did her sword cut the monster apart, but the sword was also covered in intense flames, which had now burned the monster’s body, emitting a burned smell. This kind of attack, not even a Lv6 or Lv7 Monster beast could stand this.

A real sword was one that killed.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

It would always consider killing its only objective.

Besides being fast, it was cruel and accurate.

It had to be fluid so that the enemy couldn’t predict it.

Following Tang Y’s lead, the soldiers behind her immediately made their move and the guns in their hands spat bullets like an unending torrent of rain.

Under the power of the guns on the armored soldiers, the flow of indestructible metal trampled through the corpses of the monster beasts.

When the reinforced front armor collided with the monsters, who had attempted to bite very soldier they pounced on, the power of the armor's magic abilities was truly demonstrated.

An unknown power from the crystal core embedded on the Armor’s chest and the runes written on every part of the Armor shone brightly, and on the waist and arms spat out mystic flames. The Monsters futilely scratched and bit on the cold armor as each soldier were like bulldozers, unhindered even against the fearsome beasts.

The team maintained their formation as they moved forward, pushing the monsters back, creating a wide perimeter range for the cleaners to work. If the charge formation stopped, they then must face the dire situation of being surrounded by these terrifying monsters.

Although the regular beasts would not penetrate the armor if they accumulated and gained a numerical advantage, they could, however, deform the powerful armor as easily as they flipped cars.

"Stick together! Don't break the formation! Just do what we always do in the training! Steel yourselves! You are the shield! MOVE!!"

Even if they had the absolute advantage on equipment, no one dared to lose concentration as they used the firepower of their armors and guns to disperse the sea of beasts.

The monsters and beasts squeezed through and collided with the armored vehicle that was following behind the cleaners, but they got ran over right away. The thick and heavy tire left a frightening mark on the ground. The 20mm machine gun on top of the vehicle continued to fire as the bullets penetrated the bodies of the monsters, some exploded into pieces, while most had turned a beehive full of holes.

Finally, led by the ferocious Tang Yu who was like a butterfly dancing on the battlefield, the entire force forcefully created an opening through the sea of monster beasts as they trampled through the twitching bodies and out of the monster-infested area.

During this time, the cleaners hurriedly picked up the dead corpses of monsters and dump them into the armored truck while those civilians were carrying large bags and putting everything they picked inside it.

If they relinquished their shares to the truck, they would just be reimbursed with money but money is not what they wanted. What they want is to get useful items and skills in the [DAWN Enterprise] so they must grit their teeth and bear the heaviness of these things. Fortunately, with eating monster flesh, their bodies were strengthened slightly—stronger and tougher than normal people.

“One,”

Baaang!!

Agoblin-like monster that seemed to be chanting magic just behind a tree had its head burst like a popped watermelon.

Just at the top of one of the towers, Ye Shishi noticed an empty shell flew out from her gun and then fell with a ‘Ding!’ sound on the ground, before turning into shards of light and disappearing. Her lips arched into a grin.

“A head shot…” she muttered softly as she once again looked through the scope of the sniper rifle, scanning down the monsters hiding within the bushes.

The rifle she was holding was based on a .300 WinMag sniper rifle. A bolt-action, precision sniper weapon that had undergone many changes and turned into a custom-made, magical weapon that can generate its own bullet, erasing the need for ammunition and magazines.

It was then named the [City Destroyer] as its bullet can literally destroy a tank, plane, or even a helicopter in one shot.

There was even a saying, 'The moment the sniper started, its slaughter would be difficult to stop.' that circulated around the best snipers. They are not as destructive as mages, or quick and swift as archers, but in terms of deadliness- they can compete for the top.

"Another one,"

Clank!

The energy that was needed to compress the bullet used was coming from a magic crystal embedded in the body of the gun. It served as the gun’s magazine that can provide over a hundred bullets for every crystal and each bullet was stronger and faster than ordinary bullets, with an explosion feature added in every bullet.

Ye Shishi took a deep breath and then saw several humanoid monsters holding bows and arrows.

“Not in my watch,” she grinned.

She then pushed her finger against the trigger. The bullet leaped out. She shot. One, two, three…five, and six. Ye Shishi traces her finger on the trigger and shot a total of six bullets, and all of them were embedded within the forehead of the humanoid monsters that were planning on attacking and cause chaos.

She licked her lips. Through the scope, Ye Shishi saw monsters hurriedly hiding in the trees and bushes after seeing their comrades dying one by one in an instant.

With an indifferent expression, she looks through the scope with narrowed eyes. Unfortunately for the monsters, hiding won't save their lives. The magic scope cannot only see long distances but its sight can also penetrate through obstacles.

The zone scanned by the crosshair had only bodies remain.

Search, fire, bolt, next.

A set of swift actions.

"...you cannot hide from me,"

Then, just like always—after getting several kills, Ye Shishi took her eyes out from the scope and fetched something from within her pockets. It has been a hobby, calming down her erratic heart—in her hand were a couple of peanuts which she throws one by one into her mouth. Crackling noises issued from her chewing. After that, she once again peered into the scope, looking for her next target.

She enjoyed this kind of feeling when she peered through the scope, like a death god, looking for a soul to reap. And when she did, just a move of her finger, a soul would be thrown into the underworld.

This kind of overwhelming superiority she got as if all lives are in her hand was much greater than the one she would get when she was fighting in close-combat.

She had always been dreaming of this day—the moment when she would be of use to the ‘Family’, that she would be able to stand beside her revered big sisters in the battle. Despite her mother’s insistence of her not doing anything dangerous, she wanted to prove herself. That she, Ye Shishi, was not just a good-for-nothing girl but also a warrior that was groomed by the Beast Emperor.

She wanted to prove that the decision of Allen at that time when he changes her life was not a mistake!

Although she knows that this was not really important- this is her persistence!

She had been dreaming of standing proudly in front of that man she worshipped like a God, the moment they meet once again. And if that moment finally comes, she would be able to stand in front of him, proud and confident.

I can stand beside you now!

She wanted to say that.

Leave your back to me. I will be your blade or shield if you want!

The [City Destroyer] sniper rifle was advanced at every level compared to the technology in this age.

Seeing the monster started cropping out almost everywhere, Ye Shishi couldn’t help but took a deep breath as she calmly decreased the magnification on the scope, and pressed a button on the side of the rifle.

A line of blue letters appeared on top of the sight.
