Chapter 523: [ Sect Leader comes to visit (2) ]

After talking with Ouyang Yishuang for a while, Venerable passing and the others finally reach a decision.

Venerable Passing turned towards Allen with a faint smile, “You win, little brother Ye… however, we have conditions.”

“… …” Allen didn’t say anything but Laura’s face turned darkened. Her brows furrowed, showing a cold and chilly displeasure.

They will be able to receive magical treasures and even receive above saint level manuals, yet they still want some conditions—they’re pushing too much!

Already given an inch and yet still taking a yard…!

Extremely greedy!!

If not for Allen, Laura would surely have cursed out loud.

Aside from Laura, Ouyang Yishuang also felt discontented. However, she didn’t say anything nor she showed anything in her expression. She calmly sips on her iced tea. After all, all said and done, she was still a Disciple and Elder of the Passing Cloud Sect.

Venerable Passing smiled bitterly. Obviously, he knows that they were being too much. But, for the Sect’s future, he needed to be thick-skinned. “I hope the little brother would not feel offended…”

Once he finished, he used his eyes to shoot a look at Allen. But the minute he met Allen’s eyes, his heart gently trembled. He saw Allen’s eyes and expression and noticed that he wasn’t showing any kind of surprise or nervousness or any kind of dissatisfaction. He had a calm expression on his face with a trace of a smile and his eyes—they even had a trace of interest and a trace of curiosity as well. It's as if everything fell on his palm.

Taking a deep breath, he continued. His face relaxed and his voice became as gentle as possible as he sincerely said, “The first condition, we want to see the books beforehand… this isn’t because of any ulterior motives but because we don’t want to receive unknowingly a manual that was formerly from another Sect, after all, it might cause misunderstandings. I hope you don’t mind,”

“Doesn’t matter,” Allen agreed without showing any expression aside from calmness and in differentness.

“Second… We hope that little brother can honor our pleas to enter Despair Grieving Mountain along with several of our Core Disciples. Although we won’t ask little brother to protect them, we hope that at least, give them a hand the moment they needed it… reducing the casualties that might happen as much as possible…”

“Despair Grieving Mountain?” Allen tilted his head in bewilderment.

“It’s a kind of special place within the Divine Martial Continent that opens every five years. All the Sect would send several of their elites to be honed within the Despair Grieving Mountain. However, this kind of place is full of danger. Casualties every time amount to 60-70% all the time, but, those who can manage to survive will surely become very powerful, bringing a dozen treasures back home as well.”

“… …”

“You’ll know several months from now, so there’s no need for me to hide anything. Our Passing Cloud Sect is sending ten personal disciples over.” Venerable Passing face grew solemn. “But little brother, entering the Despair Grieving Mountain is extremely dangerous. Just because you are strong, doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily survive.”

“Oh?” Allen frowned, a bit puzzled. Yet a hint of interest showed on his face; Despair Grieving Mountain—this smells of adventure~

Venerable Passing explained, “We only chose ten most powerful disciples in our sect. You should have guessed this. The Despair Grieving Mountain is a place which will easily kill most Emperor Realms Experts who go there. Only upon reaching a certain level would one have a hope of surviving.”

“But if you are strong but have terrible luck, then you still might lose your life.” Venerable Passing laughed bitterly. “In the history of the Passing Cloud Sect, several experts died in there, such as our Eight Brother. In the past, his level of power was equal to that of an Ancestor—a prodigy, achieving it with just less than that of 30 years but he still died in the Despair Grieving Mountain, never to be back again. Even his corpse was not yet be recovered.”

Allen nodded slightly.

The people of the Passing Cloud Sect had undoubtedly entered the Despair Grieving Mountain multiple times. They were fairly experienced.

“Very dangerous?” Laura asked, feeling a bit worried. She knew that her master; Allen would most likely enter this kind of place. As long her master hears the word Danger=Adventure, Allen would rush there even without an invitation!

Venerable Passing nodded seriously. “It is. If one rashly charges about in the Despair Grieving Mountain, even someone like me will probably have a probability of falling. Thus, in the Despair Grieving Mountain, one needs strength, one needs caution, and of course…one needs a bit of luck.”

Laura unconsciously stepped forward and grasped Allen’s shoulders from behind. Like an adorable little wife, her brows furrowed while her hand gripped his shoulders, although not feared but just a bit worried.

Feeling the warmth coming from Laura’s hand, Allen felt a warm sensation in his heart as well.

He shook his head with a wry smile and asked; “Why me?” his heart was filled with anticipation towards the Despair Grieving Mountain.

Venerable Passing smiled bitterly. “There’s a restriction in that place, that only people below 30 years of age can enter. It was a strange restriction but it was made from ancient times we don’t have any say on it.”

People who had managed to reach Emperor to Ancestor realm in less than 30 years old are commonly known as Supreme talent. Above them are entitled as Holy Son or Holy Daughter by large Sects!

“… …”

“And if we're not mistaken, the little brother should not be more than… 30 years old…”

Allen frowned for a bit before sighing, “Well, I can actually…”

Allen’s words immediately lightened the other people’s expression. However, Allen wasn’t finished, “… I can go and aid them if I can. However, their lives and safety would never be my responsibility. And I would also not busy myself in attending all of them… all the time. If I can, I will help… If I can’t, won’t have any way to do it…” he shook his head. He refused to become a nanny. After all, he didn't know these people at all. Why would he care about them?

“That’s more than enough!” Venerable Passing knows that he was asking too much so he immediately agreed.

Venerable Passing has seen many kinds of Geniuses and Prodigies—those so-called Children of Heaven. Talented and one of a kind…. However, at this moment, Venerable Passing knew that the people he had thought were geniuses were actually not as amazing as he thought them to be!

This was the first time he felt something like this…… the youth in front of him was like a real child of God; everything about him was beyond what normal people could imagine. He clearly was sitting in front of him, but faintly, it seemed like he stood on another higher level, looking down on all living beings.

If he had not met Allen, he would have never imagined this kind of person existed.

Now, with Allen by their side, he can feel relieved from sending his own talented and important disciples!

Obviously, his purpose of sending Allen along with them was only to minimize the casualties that would happen… unlike before, out of 10 disciples, only three to four would come out alive.

If they managed to increase it by another three to four then, then their Passing Cloud Sect would surely create other pillars for the Sect!

Although they wouldn’t be able to force Allen to look out for them and protect them all the time, in which he was extremely capable to do so, but with his promise they can at least feel relieved that several of their disciples would come out alive…

... ...

Standing within the group, Allen lifted his head to look at the colossal pavilion in front of him and let out a sigh, marveling at the amazing view before him.

On the sign in front of the building were three engraved words – “Passing Cloud Scripture Pavilion” – which exuded ancient grandeur. The signboard in front had a slight yellow hue and coupled with the chips and dents that covered its body, it was obvious that this place had gone through the vicissitudes of time.

This was the most important place in the entire Passing Cloud Sect: the Scripture Library!

Every single Cultivation Method that the Sect has gathered for the past hundreds of years were all stored here. These techniques were the foundation on which the Passing Cloud Sect secured its status to this day.

As the most important place of the Sect, the security on the pavilion was extremely stringent. On every other day, it was essentially a forbidden place that even Sect members were prohibited from loitering around. An hour, only then a person can stay.

Just like what other people say, this was a place where students would drool even more so about entering. However, not everyone was able to enter this place freely. Only the outstanding students, those who had obtained an opportunity from the Passing Cloud Sect, would be able to enter this place and possess the chance of obtaining a powerful Cultivation Method.

Moreover, if one was lucky, it was possible to obtain a Spirit to Saint Tier Cultivation Method from the Scripture Pavilion. Therefore, entry to the Pavilion was enough to make one be filled with jealousy.

Within the Pavilion was a stone square.

From an outside view, the Pavilion appeared to be quite small, probably two to three story apartment. However, once inside, there was a big, open area ranging many hundreds of acres. Three majestic pagodas were built together closely to form this triangular formation. Without a trace of doubt, this building was built and crafted with an unrivaled technique for it to have its own magical space.

“Over here is the Scripture Library, that one is the Weapon Armory, and over there is the Treasure House. These three pagodas of the triangular building are divided into three sections, each for techniques, weapons, and treasures.”

After entering the building, Venerable Passing explained:

-Each pagoda will have an assigned protector. Any student who wants an item would have to pass through the protector’s inspection.

Here, he asked Allen:

“Where does little brother want to go first?”

“Let us start at the Scripture Library.”

Allen quickly glanced over the three pagodas and made his decision. However, the moment Allen and Laura had entered the Scripture Library, their expressions had turned serious. The two of them had clearly perceived a faint consciousness passing through their bodies. This consciousness was considerably powerful, and it was evident that there was a guardian hidden nearby.

Protector…?

Allen frowned but he didn’t say anything. He can actually counter that consciousness that had tried to see through him but he didn’t do such a thing—if not, as a real Mid God, that rude person would surely receive fatal damage and might even turn brain dead.

This had also been noticed by Venerable Passing as he immediately turned around and showed an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry about that, little brother. The protectors assigned to each pagoda are always astute and strict on their duty… please don’t be offended.”

The three pavilions were important places within the Passing Cloud Sect. Thus, it was certainly filled with powerful defenses. If anybody wanted to wreak havoc at this location, they’d probably wind up engulfed in a tragedy. And from what Allen felt, the owner of the consciousness was at least, Ancestor realm…

“I don’t mind; however, please let them stay their hands next time… I might have a slip of hand, that would be a pity…” Allen grinned as he said with a calm tone but for some reason, Venerable Passing and the others felt a chill crawling on their spines.
