Chapter 613: [ War (2) ]

Chapter 613: [ War (2) ]

“…what ominous weather,”

Looking up, Elena saw that there were dark clouds in the bright sky. Just a while ago, it was as clear as a bright blue sky.

Now, 2 hours later, nearly one-third of the sky was covered by dark clouds.

What’s more, the dark clouds were incredibly low as if one could touch them if they raised their hand. Just like the dark clouds that had made one feel confused earlier, these dark clouds did not move with the wind and looking closely, one could see them slowly growing.

“Is it going to rain?” Eerika who was standing beside her mother look up as well and frowned.

“No! It’s not rain!”

Looking up at the dark clouds, Elena’s expression became grim.

“Those clouds are giving me an extremely uncomfortable feeling…” Her gaze suddenly jumped as she thought of something, and her expression fell. “Could it be…”

BOOM!!!!

Before Elena could finish speaking, a shocking peal of thunder sounded out…

This peal of thunder sounded as if it could shatter rocks and cause the space around them to collapse. The entire Asgard seemed to violently tremble, and countless people, warriors and civilians alike were knocked to the ground, their ears losing hearing. Following this, cries of shock and panic filled the entire Asgard…

In the air, Elena’s body trembled as she frowned and yelled, “As expected!!”

“They are here!!”

As Elena cried out, Eerika quickly raised his head, and his pupils contracted… the dark clouds, which had covered one-third of the sky, had grown… no, exploded… the thunder from just then was the result of countless dark clouds exploding, with each dark cloud becoming tens, then hundreds, then thousands of black dots which slowly fell…

As Eerika watched on, they fell lower and lower and grew bigger and bigger… in just an instant, the air was filled with masses of dark shapes, and they quickly fell, becoming denser and denser. They spread as far as Eerika’s eyes could see, seeming to extend on forever…

The war had truly begun!

… …

“Mm? Those black spots in the air are the monster horde?” Eerika muttered as she stood at the top of the City Wall, her expression grim.

In the horizon, reflected on her golden eyes was dozen no, countless black dots that was still increasing and growing in number in every passing second, as if wanting to cover the entire sky.

Boooom! Baaddaaaamm!! Ominous dark clouds and thunderclaps along with thunderous roars and cries of who knows what kind of monsters they came from, echoing in the entire forest.

In just a few breaths of time, those black dots became clear.

There were countless monsters and beasts; Giants, Fire Birds, flying leopards, man-eating birds, and countless other bizarre and fantastical vicious beasts that Eerika didn’t know the name of and still yet to have seen. There must have been tens of Millions in the dense cloud they were gathered in.

And this was only in the air – there were probably many more on the ground.

Although she had already braced herself but seeing this lineup, she still couldn’t help but gasp. This was not the first time she had participated in this kind of war against a Monster Horde—back in the Aryan Clan, she had also participated one along with her beloved. And yet, that kind of Monster Horde was nowhere near as much as this—this was the first time that he had witnessed the true horror of a Monster Horde.

Although these vicious beasts in front of her were mostly first-level, second-level, third-level, and other low ranking vicious beasts, this was a case of quantity over quality.

It’s not something to be underestimated!

A mass of them could eventually overwhelm and pile over a master.

It seems like the Demon Legion truly has lost their patience and wanted to eradicate the entire God Clans as soon as possible!

“Those Damn Demons…!” Eerika can’t help but cursed out loud. However, after thinking about it, wasn’t her beloved also a demon…? Eh? Wait, does that mean she was cursing him too…? Eerika smiled bitterly. Nah, Sol was far better than this knock-offs! Her Sol is far greater than these evil creatures…!!

Eerika snorted.

That’s right! Sol is not just a mere demon, he’s a Godly Devil!

This and that are completely different!

On the city wall, Elena, Grandma Elin, Grandpa Ingmar, WarGod Eric, and many experts arrived. Seeing the upright standing and firm Eric Thor, their hearts inexplicably felt a lot more at ease. In their hearts, Eric Thor, the descendant of the God Thor, is a god-like existence.

This person was only second to the Great God Thor, the guardian of Norse God City; Asgard!

He was famous for inheriting the Great God’s power and might—thus, calling him the God of War!

With him here, it’s as if they can win any war!

A moment later, someone broke the silence and said, “The Monster horde this time is only at the millions level, we don’t have to be too nervous about it! We have also withstood the tens of millions level of demon beast hordes before!”

His voice is full of confidence and pride.

In fact, a million level Monster Horde can still be blocked. However, there will always be a large number of casualties in every horde.

In order to repel the horde, Norse God City; Asgard has to pay a painful price. After the horde comes through, there would be nothing but devastation. Though, of course, there’s also the fact that this time’s horde might not be the same as before—but no one dared to contradict and just nodded their heads.

After all, no one wanted to lower the people’s morals and might affect the outcome of the incoming battle…!

…they needed to be optimistic even if the road before them is a cliff.

Just when everyone was feeling tense and anxious in their hearts, a monster’s roar could be heard coming from the valley. The roar of this monster sounded so mournful in the quiet night. Hearing the monster’s roar coming from far away, everyone’s faces changed.

“The horde is coming, everyone, full defense!”

“Defense!”

“People below, get back up!”

Hearing the monster’s roar, all the people leaning and preparing at the side immediately jumped out and quickly stopped their work.

Clenching their holds on their weapons and steeled their selves, each of them immediately wears the face and expression of a warrior—at this moment, there is no backing out! The city gate dropped down with a boom. The originally squatting guards at both sides of the door stood up, being in full alert.

Almost every time when the Monster horde arrives, the gate would be bridged.

What they are facing is flesh and blood killing intent.

Several youths holding onto the spears in their hands were slightly trembling.

“You’re afraid?” a Clan Elder with scars all over his face asked.

The youth nodded his head. Cold sweat covered his palms, forehead, and back. He was biting his lips as if trying to endure something but his eyes were already moist and teary. But no one dared to laugh at him or mock him. Each and one of them felt the same, even a veteran warrior who had undergone a thousand tribulations before felt the same as well.

After all, this might be the last time they would see this sky and felt the warmth of their comrades!

“It’s fine, everything will be fine when the fight starts!” the scarred face old the old man laughed, “White blade enters, the red blade comes out. At that time, there’ll be nothing to be afraid of! In the battle where life is on the line, no other thoughts would appear in your mind aside from surviving and killing…”

“… ?!”

“Even clear thoughts such as love, family and friends, would be nowhere as you underwent the baptism of blood and flesh. When that happens, you had truly become a real warrior…!!” the scarred face of the old man let out a vicious grin.

His eyes sparkling, and although he looked aged, his body was still exuding a powerful presence that makes other youths felt apprehended.

This is a true warrior…!

A warrior that had been baptized by blood and war…!!

…sooner or later, they as well would…!!

The youth’s trembling unknowingly stop as he nodded. His eyes, although still moist, yet behind his gaze was a powerful will!

The scared faced Elder nodded in appreciation. In War there is no such thing as Hero or Coward—all were the same, status and position, young or old, all the same—Survival!

That is only what left on the battlefield!

Eerika and her group quickly went up to the city walls and looked into the distance. On the flat ground far away, a black dot appeared one after another and quickly become denser, turning into a thick black stripe.

The ground was also rumbling, like dense thunder striking it.

The horizon of the sky is lit with grey and dark.

Looking towards the sky, the horizon couldn’t be seen, only monsters and beasts.

These monsters are all roaring, charging towards Norse God City; Asgard.

Eric and the rest have already unsheathed their swords, preparing to charge out and enter into battle. With their strength, as long as they don’t encounter any monsters above the Mid God rank, they can safely retreat.

The speed of the monster horde is extremely fast, it was already roughly three miles away from the city walls. There were all sorts of huge monsters mixed in, some were more than five meters in size and were daunting. There were also giants and menacing Cyclops among them…!

All the various elders and soldiers unsheathed their swords respectively. Seeing the endless amount of demon beasts, most of the youth and young warriors had their faces ashen instantly.

“My goodness, with so many monsters, there’ll be a lot of deaths! I don’t want to turn into the stool of these demonic beasts!” A youth had a bitter face, “God, have pity on me, I’m still a virgin!”

“Good for nothing!” Alva kicked on that youth’s butt, “If these monsters climb up the city walls, I’ll turn them into soup!”

Several of the people who heard her voice immediately gave Alva thumbs up. So cool…!! If even a woman like Alva is not afraid, then what can the men be afraid of?

Although the youth whined earlier, he still remained on the city wall. He’s just someone that will have some complaints but still have some backbone. After all, he was among the prided youth reared by the clan.

Eerika and Mair stood behind Elena, the current acting Clan Master and said nothing.

Eerika glanced at her mother in front of her. As the daughter of the Clan Master, she will naturally not be worse than others. When facing the Monster horde, she will definitely not back down. This concerns the pride of the Balder Family!

The Norse God City; Asgard is waiting for them to protect it!

She sighs and then turned towards the sky—although she had already steeled herself here and even if she dies here in this battle, she wouldn’t regret anything. However, there was just one she couldn’t forget and can’t help but break that ‘No Regrets’ feelings—Sol, I…I’m sorry. If something happened to me this time, I…

Eerika bit her lips and closed her eyes. She wanted to see him but he might be in the same situation right now…

Sol, where are you right now?

Are you fine?

No! Thinking about the future, Eerika’s eyes suddenly glowed ominously!

This can’t happen…! I want to see him!!

For that, I…I will live. I will survive and see you again. Certainly…!!

I will remain alive for my most beloved…

The sky was replete with dark clouds. Although it was spring, the chill of winter hadn’t yet evaporated, and a cold wind blew through the plains. Over tens of thousands, troops were arranged in a giant formation atop of the City Wall, silently waiting for the bloody battle.

Flags fluttered in the air, and the cold tips of soldiers’ halberds, swords, and other weapons shined with killing intent.

In truth, all of the best soldiers within the Norse God City; Asgard, which was equivalent to that of a large Kingdom, had joined the frontier army. Among them, young and inexperienced warriors, together with the younglings of the Clan, they could only be considered a hardly help.

But in this dire situation, they showed a hardened edge and jagged spirit that only tempered veterans had; seemingly accustomed to blood and iron, with an unflinching momentum that was unafraid of death.

As expected of a large clan of famous Gods, they display presence and prestige befitting of their ancestors…!

This was because this was not a mere fight but a battle for survival. Their city and their people were behind them. If they fell on this field, their parents would die, their wives would die, their friends and their children would die.

Mixed within these armed forces were over 100 outside God Clan descendants. These individuals had voluntarily joined the force at this time of need.

All of these individuals had strange appearances. There were some who carried symbol flags, showing the symbols of different Clans; Mt. Olympus, Kemet, Aryan, and many more strange symbols.

There were those who wore bamboo hats and looked like woodcutters, English knights, and barbarians. And there were even those who wore long, loose robes, looking no different than a scholar. These people were all between 20 and 50 years old, and all of them had overflowing strong auras of power and might.

As Eerika stood in front of the army, she grasped a very long but beautiful blue colored spear, slanting the spear point towards the ground.

In this upcoming battle of life or death, where either side would be annihilated, it would be wrong to say that there were no mighty waves that surged through her heart. In the worst-case scenario, Norse God City; Asgard would be trampled over, and her home would be utterly destroyed.

To this, it was not a blow that she wouldn’t be able to withstand. After all, she as well as the others had already given everything they can to protect it but if they couldn’t, then that’s already what Fate has in store for them.

They can only accept it—and as a member of a prestigious God Clan, no matter what outcome, she can’t be stubborn and deny it. And if the worst-case situation really came to fruition, they would just use their all remaining to save several of the important family juniors, and ensure that their family’s bloodline would be preserved. That’s all there is to it—

But, there was actually something that would make her regret something if she died and that is—the longing and sorrow of wanting to see a particular person.

Although she had already accepted no matter what the outcome is, it would be a lie if she says she doesn’t have any more regrets…

If I die… would he remember me…?

Eerika’s hand trembled.

Is he using… those clothes I made for him…?

Is he thinking of me, right now…?

“I wanted to see him one last time…”

Elena turned around and looks at her daughter, wanting to say something but the moment she saw her, her words were stuck on her throat. Eerika was wearing her usual expressionless and cold face but as a mother, how could she not notice the emotions flashing across her eyes…?

She wanted to send her away…because at least she knows that even if the Clan wouldn’t survive, Eerika still has someone to return to—someone who would take care of her. Although that man is in an ambiguous position, she already had heard about him from the High Goddess; Athena…

The Wise King…

He wasn’t an enemy…that’s at least she understands now…!

If it’s him, then Eerika would surely be fine.

However, how could she not know Eerika’s disposition…? If she wouldn’t resort to extreme things and knock her down before sending her away, she would never leave this place and run away from this war. And so, the only she could do now is sigh…deciding that if things turned worse, she would not hesitate to knock her down and send her away!

As Elena was thinking, she suddenly saw some blurry shadows appear on the horizon. These shadows started out the size of flying insects, but in a few dozen breaths of time, they covered the heavens and the earth. And it was now extremely close to the Asgard City—

The Monster tide had finally arrived!

The ones to arrive first were naturally the fastest flying vicious beasts. Looking at them, there were probably several hundred. They were running towards here, like beasts excited upon seeing free meals.

“There are only several million, and most of them are first-level or second-level vicious beasts. The highest among them is only third-level vicious beasts. Like this, we can still make it.” Elena was very clear that the vicious beasts that lived within the depths of the Winter Forest that had bonded along with those monsters coming from the Demon Eye weren’t gathered together and instead scattered around.

The beasts that were close arrived the earliest with no doubt, among which the flying beasts traveled the fastest, and they had the most powerful attacking power. They would be the first ones to come running here, wanting to take the first bite of the meal, not wanting to lose out from those invaders!

Therefore, they were the ones killing the most at the beginning of the beast wave.

All of the vicious beasts would emerge from the South Mountain Range, forming a monster tide. And so, because of that, there would be gaps between these groups.

The weakest appetizers would be at the front, and the latter groups would be increasingly strong. This gave Norse God City; Asgard a breath of hope. With this opportunity, they might be able to last until reinforcements arrived.

“Javelin throwers, Archers, prepare!”
