Chapter 618: [ Devil ]
“… well, whether the idiot father successfully breaks free or not is not of our concern right now… what we need to focus our attention on at this moment, is how to deal with these idiots that don’t know who they are dealing with…”
said Allen as he turned his gaze towards the attacking monsters—most eye-catching were the two Fifth level monsters Iron Spiked Storm Bear and the Two-Headed Demonic Wolf King, that was attacking the High Humans and Godkins that was guarding them, causing casualties to rapidly skyrocket in an instant.
They look ferocious and extremely dangerous… blood spilled wherever they go as they struck indiscriminately, whether they were monsters or humans alike—
Seeing these rampaging monsters, even Eerika’s gaze dimmed down. Her full-powered attack a while ago was received without a problem. It didn’t even do any kind of damage on it. This was a heavy blow to her pride as well as her confidence.
“…I’ll take them,”
At this time Elena stepped forward. These monsters are surely different from the other monsters and so, it was only her who has the capability to take them on at the moment. However, as she was about to rush towards the two monsters, she was suddenly stopped by someone unexpected.
“Wait!” called out by the clone of Allen. "Even if you go, I doubt you would be able to kill them, at least not easily," he remarked calmly.
"What do you mean by that Dante? Are you doubting my power?" She furrowed her brows, somewhat annoyed by the clone's remark.
"I know how strong you are, but I fear this is not a matter of strength alone," said by the clone with a faint smile.
"And what do you mean by those words?" Elena asked involuntarily.
“They are shrouded in an illusion. Attacking them as it is, is impossible or at least, not efficient…!”
The words said by the Clone of Allen immediately caused a disturbance among the group, not expecting his strange claim at all.
“What? What illusion?”
“Illusion?!”
“If it’s an illusion, why have I not seen anything…?”
One of them was Mair, from the Mimir Clan. She walked forward with a doubtful expression after hearing Allen clone’s claim. She possesses the ability to see everything, much less an illusion. Any kind of illusion could not possibly be able to trick her eyes, much less the eyes of those of the elders of the clan at all. But why is there no one appearing who had shared the same thoughts as his?
However, if what he said was true, then, isn’t this saying, her eyes turned useless…?
“These monsters, including those two monsters, were not their real bodies at all. It was an illusion, a very powerful illusion that no one would be able to be see-through, even those from your Clan--Mair" said the Clone, smiling. "After all, this is a work of a very powerful demon who specialized himself in the art of trickery and illusions."
Or rather… have we fallen into some kind of Domain already…?
The clone of Allen mused inwardly as he turned his gaze towards the direction of Asgard. Surely, this illusion's goal was...the destruction of Asgard, rather than trying to kill every Godkins and High humans in this war.
If that is possible… then, a Mid God among demon…?
In fact, rather than being called Mid God, it should be named as the Grand Duke Class Demon, instead? No, this amount of power-- it had not yet reached that level. But at the very least, a Duke Class Demon… the clone of Allen made a frowning expression.
The moment he felt something amiss, his intuition telling him so, as well as the strange demonic essence around him the clone of Allen immediately suspects something wrong.
The concealment is quite sloppy so, it’s not that strong of a Demon.
At the very least, inferior compared to the current him…!
"Illusion, how could it be?"
Elena could not believe it. Much less, Eerika and the other people, they were already dumbfounded.
“Hm? Wait, don’t tell me… it was an illusion cast the moment they had appeared, am I right?" Mair seemed to notice something. But her expression showed that she couldn’t believe it either. Though, if what she thought was real, then there’s a high chance that she would have fallen without her noticing.
After all, she didn’t notice anything or even expecting any kind of illusion occurring so she had really let her guard down…
Her senses would be fooled…
Allen’s clone nodded, "Probably. However, all I can say is that this is one incredible monster. It cast an illusion that covered such a wide area that even all of your eyes and senses were deceived. If I don't have the blood of a demon, being sensitive to demonic energy, then, even I would have a hard time noticing anything wrong..." he then turned and look around him as if trying to see something.
“But, but how? Fooling my eyes is…”
Mair was still in doubt. She was just that confident in her eyes.
“That’s because of your current level…” Allen’s clone responded. “Although I heard the power of your eyes, unique among the special kind of eyes, sadly, you are still quite weak. If I’m not mistaken, this monster's level is above that of mere Mid God—besides, they are demons, Demons have many types of skills and abilities that can deceive one’s eyes and senses--they are best at it.”
“Wait, Allen, are you saying that there is another Mid-God level Monster here that we haven't noticed yet? Or was it a Demon?!” Elena frowned. She took a deep breath and asked with great gravity, “Is there really that kind of monster in this war?”
"I'm not sure... this is only just a conjecture. I'm just following what my intuitions tell me," the clone of Allen said wryly. “However, if it was truly a demon's work, then it wouldn't be that surprising. Don't lose your confidence, mair. But against a Duke Class level opponent, there's a high chance it could fool even your eyes…”
“Uugh…” Mair’s face was as if she had eaten a bug. Indeed, due to her current strength, at most, she can see through a Mid God’s illusion barely. But that is only if the Mid God is at the 1st tier at the very least. Above that is already way beyond her current ability!
“Well, probably the moment it appeared, it immediately masks the entire area into an illusion. However, please be cautious. The illusion doesn’t mean to attack you with it but to disguise existences and fooling everyone’s senses. It means that the real monsters behind this illusion are real. If you are hit by it, I fear, all of you would be receiving quite a dangerous blow!”
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
As they were talking, suddenly, the defensive shield on top of the city was continuous attacked.
The entire Asgard was shaking.
"It’s attacking the defensive shield!"
Troy spoke the obvious.
The strength of the City’s barrier was limited. Much more, it had already endured countless attacks up until now. Thus, there were already cracks appearing in three different locations because of continuous blows against it. If this carried on much longer, the barrier might not be able to hold on anymore and collapse. If that happens, the Norse God City; Asgard would surely beyond saving!
Everyone in the city was scared.
Many ordinary people were shivering, some were even crying.
“Damn it!!”
Seeing this happening, not only Eerika and the others, all the people fighting outside the barrier instantly paled and their expressions turned into panic.
"Dammit! We need to protect it now?" Troy could not wait anymore. Along with Alva and the other panicking Asgardians, they immediately turned their head towards the City and flew back. But they were stopped by Elena.
"Can you all see the monsters attacking the barrier?" she asked. In this place, she was quite calm and collected. After all, she had already expected an outcome where the City’s barrier would be destroyed. It’s only a matter of time with this large scale of an attack. Although she hates thinking about it but panicking wouldn’t help them save it. Besides, she had been the Clan Master for quite a long time already. Because of that, she was more composed than anyone.
"No, I can’t." Troy shook his head. His expression pale and his body shaking. Is this really the end…?
"So what are you going to fight then?" Elena asked again.
"But... Once the defensive shields are broken, they would attack the citizens." Troy tried to reason with her.
“But what can you do? Block attacks from who knows where it was coming from? Can you do it?!”
“That’s…”
“…Besides, even if the City’s Barrier was broken, it would create an outward flow of shockwave and so, all creatures within dozen meters away from the City Walls would be pushed and sent flying away. Furthermore, apart from that, the last layer defense would activate. Though it’s not as powerful as the real City’s barrier, it could still take a few more blows.” Elena explained softly. “…it would still give us time! What we need to do right now is to do everything we can to find these monsters and stop breaking the barrier any further!”
“… …”
"…It’s about being strategic." Elena stared at him, then patted Troy’s shoulder. Troy was just too influenced by the adrenaline rush. “Haste will always make everything into waste!”
Always, no matter what situation it was, one needs to be calm and collected. Clear your mind so that you can proceed with a further clear notion and a better plan.
Elena furrowed her brows. Then her gaze turned towards Oddveig who was currently battling a boy demon and his giant Cyclops along with the other Asgardians. Oddveig was Mair’s mother and although she doesn’t possess her daughter’s [ Eye of Truth ] which was extremely unique among the Mimir Clan, her perception and clairvoyance are much better than Mair.
But she seemed to have yet to notice the illusion… was it perhaps because she was too occupied in fighting the Demons?
Eerika didn’t share the same thought as Elena. She had forgotten anyone else and she faze was fixated only in one direction, no, only one man (boy on this matter). Her gaze was full of extreme confidence and belief.
Probably all women, mortal or Gods, when one finally found someone to rely, they would do so, no matter what the time and place—to only one person they would put their fate in even if it was baseless confidence even though there were many other options place at the surface of the game table!
I guess that was true love…
When Elena was about to go and notified Oddveig, she suddenly heard Eerika’s voice.
“Sol, do you have any way to know resolve the current situation…?”
“… …” Allen’s clone stared at Eerika and smiled faintly, “If it was my original, I think he can…”
“… …”
“…however, that would be impossible right now. Besides, due to me being just a clone, my powers are halved and also my abilities are restricted to some degree...” he answered, causing Eerika to feel slightly disappointed.
At this moment, Allen’s clone placed his hand at the top of Eerika’s head, gently stroking it. Eerika glanced at his pretty face showing a smile and was struck in a daze, “…but I’ll try~”
All gazes instantly went towards the clone. Even Troy who felt extremely complicated watching Eerika and Allen’s clone's intimacy could only grit his teeth in frustration and envy. He knows how to prioritize things, and Allen’s power is indeed necessary for them at this moment. Well, even if it wasn't, Troy didn't think he has a high chance of winning against Allen.
Eerika's heart seemed to have already set on him... it's something even him could see...
And so he was extremely bitter about it...
“…Can you do it, Dante?” Elena turned towards Allen and asked doubtfully.
Allen turned around, “Although my power is only half of the original, I still have some few tricks up my sleeve…”
Allen’s body flickered and his figure then disappeared.
BaaAAAnnGGG!! in a short distance, where the fifth-level Two-Headed Wolf King was running amok and fighting several High Humans and Godkins in a bitter fight, a small figure suddenly appeared and in just a blink of an eye, an explosion occurred. The Two-Headed Wolf King was blasted away.
Whish. Whish. Whish. Allen’s reptilian tail swayed left to right, right to left in an energetic manner as he landed on the ground gracefully with a thud!*.
“Damn, bastard, you dare attacked Eerika, I will blast you into smithereens!” he snorted and then turned towards the hateful bear staring at him. But expectedly enough, Allen didn’t go and fight and instead, just looked at it.
RRrroooOOOaaaAAArRRRR—!!
The Storm Bear let out a deafening roar at Allen. It’s as if it was issuing a challenge or some sort.
AawooooOOOaaaAAAhhHH—!!
At this time, the Two-Headed Wolf King had also come back but just like before, it has no apparent wound despite taking Allen’s direct blow.
“Tsk, sturdy aren’t you…” Allen snorted in contempt. Though, with his childish face, it was not the least bit intimidating.
“Sol…” Eerika called out from behind but Allen didn’t respond and instead, lightning flash across his eyes.
Crackle! Crackle! Lightning sparks appeared around him, like golden snakes happily dancing. His silver hair slowly stood up, completely defying gravity.
“… …!!?”
At that moment, the battle suddenly stopped.
Whether it was the God Clan or the Demon Clan, all of them instantly stop what they are doing as their attention was forcefully grabbed by something. Dark, ominous, dangerous—an icy-cold and piercing killing intention suddenly blasted out from Allen’s body and scattered everywhere.
All the monsters present including all the experts fighting at every part of the battlefield immediately felt this intense killing intention and quickly drew a few steps back. Shock!
Allen’s killing intent was so frightening that some of the creatures, whether they are monsters High Humans with comparatively weaker strengths felt as if they would be shattered into fragments. Kneeling on the ground, exhausted and breathless. There were even monsters, first and second level, who had instantly fainted, bubbles on their mouth.
Although the current Allen was nothing but a clone with half of the original’s power but mere presence and aura was actually almost the same as the original.
Eerika and the others had already forgotten about fighting. They just foolishly stared at the image of that person in front of them. All of them had the same thought; Are these his true colors…?
Terrifying…!
Even Eerika herself had never actually seen him turning into his Demon Form… this was the first. Seeing this unfamiliar side of him, Eerika couldn’t help an urge of walking to Allen and tried to check on him. However, she got scared away by that strange feeling that came from him. Elena had also pulled her back and had stopped her from opening her mouth.
Demon…!
As expected of the Demon Prince who had terrified the Demon Legion—brother of the infamous Virgil, Prince of Absolute Evil. Just mere presence alone had affected them by much…!
Elena couldn’t take her eyes off from Allen’s child figure that was being enveloped by golden snake-like electric sparks at the same a dark and hazy black mist that was condensing at his horns, wings, and tail. Even his hand seemed to have slowly been covered by black gauntlet-like scaly claws.
However, what caused Elena and the others felt apprehended was the pair of deep red bloodshot eyes appeared just from above the child Allen’s head was. What sort of eyes was those? When Elena stared into the pair of bloodshot eyes, she was suddenly dazed, and a sense of cold ten times stronger than outside the tent assaulted her.
In the pair of bloodshot eyes lay many negative emotions, ice-cold, evil, violence, demonic, and many others she couldn’t identify. Even though she was not yet a true Mid God, but she was after all still a Peak Lesser Deity. Even so, when she saw the pair of eyes, she felt the world spinning around her as if her soul was being sucked away by those evil orbs.
This one gaze must give a lasting impression on Elena!
A gaze that was as sharp as a blade, arrogant, and wild like the king of the wolves in northern grassland; sharp like a sword and cold as ice. This kind of eyes was filled with ruthlessness!
Under this gaze, the living things in the world were like ants to be killed without care!
All of the living things in this world were no more than grass to be trampled!
Under this gaze, all creations under heaven are nothing!
