Chapter 701: [Daughter?! (2)]
“So you are really my daughter from my past incarnation...huh…”
Allen sigh, not knowing what to say after hearing what Lifilia had said.
“Forget about me… I know what you’re up to, father…” Lifilia shook her head and said calmly.
“… …?” Allen tilted his head. Though, being called a father by someone he just met really is quite…strange…
“You came to find Master Vergil, am I right…?” Lifilia’s brows furrowed. “You will die, father…”
“… …” Allen’s face remained the same as if he had not heard what Lifilia’s words were.
“I hope you are not saying this because Vergil is stronger than me…” Allen smiled bitterly.
“No…” Lifilia shook her head. “I’m talking about the Demon Emperor.”
“Lucifer…?” Allen’s eyes narrowed. “Was he already revived?!”
“…His soul, that is…”
“What do you mean?” Allen frowned. “Did Lucifer finally resurrected?”
“Not yet…not completely at least…it needed something else… the last seal…”
“I thought the last seal had been uncovered already by Mammon!?” Allen asked, doubtful.
Lifilia nodded her head, “Indeed…but it was not the 'last' key…”
“What do you mean it’s not the last key? If he had unlocked all the 66 seals, then was not that…all the seals already?” Allen’s brows furrowed in confusion.
He already heard that Mammon had found the 66th seal and was in the process of unleashing it. So why does the last seal still missing?
Lifilia calmly raised his teacup and sip her tea, she then responds with an indifferent voice, “I’m not keen on the specific details but, Mammon indeed had already found all the 66 seals of the Demon Emperor. However, the last process of unsealing the last seal, Mammon seemed to have realized something…it was still lacking, he said. Thus, the process of the Demon Emperor’s resurrection was halted…”
“And what thing was lacking?”
Lifilia shrugs, “Beats me…perhaps, only the Imperial Court knows of it. I only heard some hearsays and rumors…”
“But you said I’m going to die if I go… I thought Lucifer was already awakened…” Allen smiled wryly.
“I can feel some forbidding omen coming from the imperial palace… and it’s not something good…” Lifilia’s gaze narrowed. “The Imperial Capital is completely unstable at this very moment… if you go there now, there’s a very high chance you would lose your life, father…much less, Mammon is hunting you down…”
“… …”
“Mammon had already spread the word about your revival. All great clans and forces are already hot on your tail… that is also the reason I immediately know about your identity, father…” said Lifilia with a wry smile, “…I heard about Asmodeus being with you, so you would surely pass through Luxuria on your way. In her domain, even the other Princes and Mammon would not be able to act as much as they wanted. For you, it’s a safe place compared to other Cities. Hence, I was certain that you will pass here…”
“Well, ain’t Mammon so panicky upon my presence? He controls the Demon World like the back of his hand and yet he still has the time to mind a simple character like me… quite an honor for me,” Allen grinned.
“…even if I were Mammon, I would do the same,” Lifilia stared at Allen for a moment. “You are not any other Demon, father, you are the Demon Prince… one that has the right to rule the Demon World. Aside from your authority, your power is also quite terrifying.”
“…my former power, I can understand. But now… I am just a discarded shell…”
“… even if a dragon discards its shell, it is still a Dragon’s Shell,” Lifilia muttered solemnly. “However, if you want to go, I won’t stop you. If that is your desire, I can only watch how you will turn fate…unfortunately, this war is something I cannot join…at least, not without permission by Mother.” she sighs and cast Allen an apologetic look.
This caused a string within Allen’s heart to be touched. His hand grasped hers and squeezed gently, “Doesn’t matter… this is my fight and so, I shall be the one to end this. Your father is not yet old that I need someone to clean up my mess.”
Lifilia’s indifferent expression wavered and she felt her heart throbbed. The word 'Your Father' seemed to have the power to penetrate through her heart. So this is the feeling of having a father--she thought she wouldn't feel anything like her brothers and sisters even if she would finally meet her father for the very first time. However, the reality is completely different from her expectation.
She only came here to find him because; first, she wanted to see him and introduced herself. And second, she wanted to warn him at least--this is a simple duty of her being his blood. She just couldn't ignore this situation where her father would be facing his doom. But now, she realized, all her expectation, all her planning, all of them turned useless the moment she saw him. It's as if her once cold heart started to melt after being exposed to heat!
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Her lips curled upwards ever so gently. However, she doesn’t want to show her true expression so she hurriedly averted her eyes, in which they caught someone’s shivering figure. Her gaze turned cold;
“…what are you going to do about her, father? I can punish her for you, but I think you would want to do it personally?” Lifilia asked coldly as she pulled out her hand from Allen’s hold and pick up her teacup. Taking a sip, she looks at the shivering figure standing at the corner of the room as if she was looking at a corpse.
“Please consider it Master! I, I didn’t know!”
The shivering figure, or should I say, Socritia, the owner of this restaurant under Lilith’s name immediately kneeled in fear toward Lifilia. She didn’t dare turned towards Allen as she was too afraid to look the Great Demon Prince in the eyes. It was obvious that she was overcome with guilt and fear.
Not only she criticizes him, but also she had humiliated him!
Toward a Great Demon Prince like Allen, this sin was the gravest sin that a Demon could do!
It would be fine if it in some other situation as she was still a member of Lilith, death would be a faraway conclusion. But this time was different! The one who had appeared, managing the branch building at this moment, was Lifilia Lilith, high ranking member within Lilith’s Organization and also… the Great Demon Prince's daughter!
Lifilia Lilith could take her life any time she wanted!
PAK!
A huge slap echoed across the room as Lifilia slammed her hand on Socritia’s face causing the latter to crash into the wall—
“Now, you know how to beg?! Where did your arrogance go to, Socritia?!”
“Master! I know my wrongs! I, I didn’t see through the situation clearly! I,” Socritia’s hands began to tremble. Her voice also began to stutter.
However, Lifilia’s expression was still fierce, “Socritia, have you forgotten the orders from Mother?! To any conflict, we wouldn’t step in and interfere. Then, what did you do? You step in to stop the commotion, that’s good, but why are you leaning on those pathetic bastards side?! Even if a fool would understand it after seeing your action—did you think of me as a fool, Socritia?!”
“Mas, Master… I, I..” Faced with Lifilia’s questioning and the solid evidence before her, Socritia froze for a few seconds before crawling and grabbing onto Socritia’s arm and crying for forgiveness, "Master...I didn't do it on purpose. I really didn't..."
If someone saw Socritia, the always haughty and proud demon who always looks down on people was acting like this, they would have fainted in disbelief. However, this is the Demon World—one second you’re above any person but once a single mistake was made, you will find a second later, you’re already at the deepest bottom of the world, crawling and wailing in grief.
Allen remained calm throughout the entire conversation. He wasn’t that interested in this so-called punishment or to Socritia’s pathetic display. You reap what you sow—this is the only phrase he could say at this moment. As for Asmodeus, she only snorted in disgust and detested this kind of pathetic being. It’s not in her nature to care about this kind of bugs.
“I’m not that interested in your affair, Lifilia. Although I can do what I want even without Lilith’s permission, nevertheless it would still not be good for me to step in your matters. You can do what you want on that woman, I don’t care.” Allen said in an extremely cold voice. He placed down his cup on the table and slowly stood up, “…in any case, you already know what you wanted to do. You have your own rules, what’s there for me to bug in~”
“…yes, father…I understand,” Lifilia contemplated for a moment before nodding her head obediently.
Hearing Allen’s words and Lifilia’s response, Socritia’s face immediately paled. She quickly crawled over to Lifilia and grabbed onto her legs. However, at this time, there was no longer anyone that could save her.
Allen ignored the girl begging and wailing like a child and walked towards Lifilia. Under the latter’s surprised expression, Allen leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lifilia… my daughter. I’m delighted to see you’ve grown up so big,”
“Father…” Lifilia couldn’t finally conceal her flushed expression look down. Her hands on her lap, fidgeting, seemingly fighting a thumb wrestling against her own.
Looking at her adorable expression, Allen couldn’t help but burst in laughter.
… …
“…anyway, father, if you are so intent to rush to the Imperial Capital, you must be careful on Mammon’s schemes. And don’t trust anyone… I would like to lend a hand but sadly, Lilith’s Dreams, are forbidden to interfere in the matters of the Demon World. Mother is firm on her neutral status…”
“Are you still thinking about that Lifilia girl? Master, I don’t trust her…”
Asmodeus said as she leaned on the railings beside him.
“Well, her being mine, is not a lie, though…” Allen looks at the blood-red sky. Just like usual, the blood-colored sun hung in the sky, spraying down the borderless amount of light that brightened the surface of a large and vast river and dyeing it red, like a river of blood.
So beautiful… so wondrous, it’s glittering like thousands of stars have fallen from the sky.
However, even with its beautiful scenery, the constant series of sounds and noises, like anguished screams of people and cries of their agonies, playing an orchestra of death and regrets, was most terrifying yet at the same time gave a strange ambiance of the scenery.
At this moment, Allen was riding in one—a giant, grand ship sailing in this kind of beautiful vast river. But of course, the word "flying" would better describe its current state. This was because the speed of this ship he was currently on was insanely fast.
Why on a ship?
That’s simple, in the river of sorrow, everyone is bounded by the restriction of flight and if ever anyone who breaks it will be dragged by the sorrowful souls from the blood river, no matter how much one struggles, or how much one’s power possess, it would be deemed futile and will be then eventually be devoured.
Not one was an exception.
It was for this reason, did all the demons need to reach the next county by boat, which was then driven by the one and only—Charon the ferryman.
Not only Charon has the power and privilege to sail through the Rivers of Hell, but the speed of his ship was also fast. Though a great alternative, it was one of the most expensive transportation methods on the Demon World and a normal demon couldn't afford this.
On the gigantic canvas of the ship, golden characters were written in Demon Language.
[RMS Titanic; Bon Voyage.]
What a good hobby and taste, Charon…
Allen couldn’t help but chuckle in amusement.
So that was why he felt the grand ship so familiar… it was none other than the Titanic that was sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean after being struck by an iceberg. Or did Charon fancied it and take it with him when it was sunk in the Atlantic?
Allen chuckled by that thought. Ever since it left the Luxuria County, it had been sailing close to two months and was about three to four days away from reaching the next county, the Gula: [The Voracious Pig].
