Chapter 49: [ Departure ]

Chapter 49: [ Departure ]

Lt. Colonel Mayla was angered by this scene.

She looked at them, her expression was grave; “What are you doing! Are those guns toys?! Are you even soldiers, you maggots!?”

No one answered her. She wanted to flare up more but she was stopped by Allen’s hand.

Seeing this scene, sure enough, the group immediately becomes tense as they felt a foreboding feeling.

Even Lieri immediately shot Allen a pointed look, trying to indicate to him to not make any irresponsible remarks.

But,

“That’s enough…” He said as he turned around and ignored it.

He had already expected this outcome

Human nature is like this. The human being is a creature who only seeks profit and benefit for only their selves.

Everyone might try to deny it but they still can’t do anything but accept it.

The truth is typically harsh and cruel because it packages the true rotting nature of a being who only knows nothing but themselves.

Anyway, he never expects anything from them in the first place so he wasn’t hurt or cared about it.

Living many years in the previous world made Allen understood this harsh reality.

Without a change in expression, he then faced Thumbelina. “You only want me, right? Then I’ll go.”

Anyway, I also have something to look for her…

“Allen!?”

“Whoa Allen, are you insane?!”

The girls froze in astonishment at his words.

They stared at him like they were looking at something they simply could not believe.

“Young master, you can’t!” Lieri grabbed Allen’s shoulder as her eyes widened in shock.

“Allen, you haven’t actually taken in by that monster… have you?!”

 “… …”

“Allen, are you an idiot! This isn’t a freaking movie where the protagonist sacrifices himself and still alive in the end!”

“…I know.”

“Know your face! You godda*n idiot! There’s no way I’m going to let you do this one!” Aileen exploded!

“That’s right Allen, please rethink it through!”

“Young master, the mistress will going to kill me if something bad happens to you so please, please don’t do this.” Lieri pleaded.

“… …”

“Hey, humans can you please stop all this drama… it’s nauseating.”

“Shut your mouth you damn monster!”

Allen smiled warmly as he looked at them but he had already made his mind.

Allen started walking forward.

“Allen!”

Allen only smiled at them and waved his hand. “I’m going to be okay. I’m just going to see an old friend.”

The others wanted to stop him but they were blocked by Ape.

“Thumbeline, I will come with you and see Alkrasha…”

“Then, that’s good. Come here…”

“… but you need to promise that you won’t hurt anyone else here… understand?” although he really didn’t do this because of them but,

Leaving all my fellow countrymen to their death would leave a bad taste for tomorrows breakfast~

Thumbeline made an annoyed face. She shrugged her shoulders and snorted.

“Allen, stop!” Lieri desperately called out as she tried bypassing Ape.

Allen looked at Lieri with a smile. “You finally called me by my name, Lieri. But I can’t stop now, I need to confirm something from Alkrasha and so I need to go and meet her.”

“But Allen that is dangerous!”

“Trust me, nothing will happen to me. I won’t die; after all, I’m the infamous immortal who is being hated by death.” Allen joked while wearing a nonchalant and leisurely smile.

“… …”

Allen gave the worried Lieri a gentle and comforting smile: “Lieri, please tell Mia not to worry about me. As long as I have this,”

Allen raised a small medallion like thing.

This was one of the things Lieri brought with her from Italy. The emblem of [ Vivite Liberi ].

Allen’s piece!

It was made from a dark metal and on its front was a golden colored tribal art of a wolf’s head howling in the sky. This signifies Allen’s pride.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

Under the wolf’s head was the name [ Vivite Liberi ] engraved on it and on the back was a big ‘0’ on it.

“… she should know that whether I’m still alive or not through this…”

“… …”

After speaking, a huge stag beetle flew down and stopped in front of Allen.

Before Allen started walking towards the beetle, he turned his gaze towards Silver who was following him obediently.

With a smile, he ordered, “Silver, stay here and follow Lieri to Italy…”

“Growl…?” Silver stopped and tilted its head while looking at Allen. Not understanding his words.

“Protect my sister there,”

“Roooar!” Silver roared at Allen as if refusing its order but as soon as it saw Allen’s smile, it didn’t have any choice but to obey. It gave Allen a reluctant gaze before turning around and walks towards Lieri.

Like an abandoned child, while walking, it turned its head and look Allen a few times as if hoping Allen would take back its orders but sadly, Allen didn’t.

Casting a last look to Lieri and the others, Allen finally turned around.

Dozens of gazes landed on him as they began whispering. Some felt gratified, some felt ashamed but most felt relieved.

Everyone’s eyes were on him as they saw him slowly walk towards the giant beetle that was as big as a sports car.

His tall figure was dyed in a crimson golden color by the blood dyed sun. His perfectly proportioned body and the black hair that was being swayed by the breeze seemed dancing……

At this moment, they felt as if Allen looked magnificent!

How could such a youth not stir the feelings of admiration and for them to gasp at his awesomeness?

He was heroic!

He looked like a true Hero; the people who looked at him felt inferior at this moment and even those who thought that it’s okay for him to be sacrificed was now so ashamed that they couldn’t lift their heads up.

The other people did not dare to continue looking at Allen, but their faces gradually turned red for an unknown reason, as though they were trying their best to hold something back.

Allen ignored the people’s fervent gazes, and nonchalantly climbs on the beetle’s back and sits.

The stag beetle flew towards Thumbeline and after casting a last look at the ground, she snorted and flew away. Behind her was the army of monsters including the one with Allen on it.

When Thumbeline and Allen left, Allen heard a long howl behind him. Surely, it must have been Silver who was left behind.

Although, he really didn’t like it. However, for him, this is the best action!

Lieri and the others could only look at Allen’s disappearing figure with faces that looked like the world’s going to end. They slumped on the ground, lifelessly.

Ms. Grace and Alicia were already crying while Flor was looking at the horizon with a frown.

As to what was she thinking, no one could understand – or maybe, no one even noticed it.

Lieri gritted her teeth and immediately stood up, took her a military-looking phone and dialed a number.

“…hello.”

--- ---

“Thumbeline, why is Alkrasha looking for me?” Allen asked while sitting comfortably on the big beetle’s back.

“… …” All this time, Allen was already asking many questions but not one was answered.

Ever since they left Camp Leon Kilat, Thumbeline started ignoring him. She doesn’t even mutter a single sound.

“Hey,”

“… …”

“Thumbeline, are you still worried about your chest?”

Snap!

“What was that you maggot?!” A vein snaps inside in Thumbeline’s forehead as she yelled out in anger.

Her face was burning while glaring daggers at Allen.

“Ah, so you’re still worried about it~”

“Do you want to die you pest!?”

Allen was a master at ignoring things like this as he continued smiling while provoking her. “Didn’t Alkrasha ordered you that you can’t hurt me?”

“Gooorrr!” Hearing this Thumbeline could only growl in hatred.

She really wished she could tear Allen to pieces and feed him to the bugs but if she did that, she would certainly die from Alkrasha’s anger.

Besides, she wasn’t certain if she could really take Allen in a fight.

This human was more like a monster rather than the monsters she had seen before. Apart from her queen, she wasn’t sure if someone could really defeat him.

Just how the heck did he became like this? Her Majesty never told her about this?

The insects were sensitive to their surroundings and that also goes in their capacity to sense danger. If they feel something dangerous, their whole body would certainly react.

The first time she saw him, she was already prepared to take him on, however, she suddenly felt a strong sense of danger coming from him.

She was curious and so she decided to watch him for the time being, while also trying to see just what did her queen liked on this lower life form.

But she was very shocked when she found out his real power. The ability to control lightning gave her Goosebumps.

At that moment, she remembered what her queen had warned her so many times; ‘You shouldn’t underestimate the humans. The creatures you always looked down upon.

They had a power that you would never understand; after all, they didn’t rule countless worlds just for show.

They are dangerous… and the most dangerous of them are those idiots and morons who don’t know how to give up.’

Remembering those words, Thumbeline for the first time, felt curious on the creatures called; Human.

She didn’t know as to what extent his power was but she knows that what she just saw was just the tip of the iceberg. That was also the reason why she gathered a huge number of monsters and even reached to a point that she used a shameless act like using a hostage.

Forget about capturing him without hurting him, she doesn’t know if she could even touch him.

Is he really… human?

“Come on, Thumbeline stops ignoring me. If you don’t want to get mad over nothing then talk to me.”

“… …”

“So what did Alkrasha wanted from me?”

“… …”

“Thumbeline’s ches---”

“Stop!”

Allen looked at Thumbeline as if he finally found his long-lost dog.

She is really amusing.

From Allen’s memories, Thumbeline was a good monster.

She was one of the monsters of the demon king’s army that Allen had a difficulty of hating.

At first, he didn’t like her and whenever they met they would try to kill each other. Thumbeline was, what you call, a naïve, innocent monster.

She always held a belief that humans were low life beings and extremely inferior compared to her race. She really looked like a rich spoiled princess.

She always felt proud of herself and revered Alkrasha, always following her orders like a fanatic.

But all of this impression changed when they got together to survive during one of the battles between the [ Dawn Alliance ] and the Insect Queen.

Trying to kill each other, they both fell in the bottom of the Abyss; One of the most dangerous places that had appeared in the new world. It’s a place located under a deep cliff and since whoever fell on it was never seen again, it was then called [ The Abyss ].

In there lies a group of cruel, low-intelligent monsters that only know how to eat and sleep; [ Screech ].

A creature that looked like disfigured goblins that don't have eyes but had a strong sense of smell.

They are carnivorous creatures that are fitted to be called monsters among monsters!

At that place, Allen tried desperately to survive.

But the thing is, he wasn’t alone in that place.

With one on her wings and limbs cut off, Thumbeline was trying to survive.

She crawled while gritting her teeth, desperately fighting against the [ Screech ].

On the other hand, Allen was much better off compared to her. With only wounds and cuts, Allen could fight the [ Screech ] much easier.

However, looking at her desperate actions, Allen for some reason felt bad leaving her to die.

…and, in the end, he dragged her along with him… though, after that event, she was still aiming for his life.

She was even chasing him wherever he goes just to kill him…

That was also the reason why he was so familiar with her presence.

Even if she hides from him, as long as she was less than 20 meters away, he would still be able to find her.

And now, here she was, still neither an enemy nor a friend.

Indeed, the world is truly small. The ones destined to meet will always cross each other’s path.

At this instant, although it was only for an instant, Allen thought the world he was in was fun after a long time.

Life is funny, eh?
