Chapter 382: [ Just what do you want? ]
Virgil had still not recovered and continued smiling like a silly kid. He then stood up from the bed and started walking towards the side.
Sliding the black curtain, Virgil stared at the cage in front of him.
“Hey, the prodigal brother had returned… alive and kicking…”
!!!?
The creature inside cage heard Virgil and its body shook violently. It opened its eyes and glares at Virgil with its crimson red pupils that seemed to burst out in flames at any given moment.
Anyone who saw it would surely feel terrified but Virgil was different. He ignored the heavy pressure and a smile lingered on his face.
“Don’t glare at me like that… and don’t show me that face. Dante is fine and it seems like, his power has almost recovered to be able to kill the Demon Generals and Beelzebub and mortally wounded Mastema.”
“… …”
“That sigh of relief really pisses me off… however, it seems like what Mammon said was real. Alastor, Lilith and Azazel’s disappearance should have something to do with him. His timely appearance can be a point of suspicions. Then, the place where they had gone off to, the Hidden Replica of the Original Eden, should be the place where he came from… am I right?”
Virgil walked forward and stroke the steel bars as he continued; “But that is really confusing… you know, when I had looked into that world, not an ounce of Dante’s soul could be found… so how?"
"... ..."
"Or it could also be said that that mortal world had nothing to do with him at all… then where was he hidden then, I wonder?”
“… …”
“Hey, that mocking gaze really hurt me at all. I’m still Solomon, you know~” Virgil grinned.
“You are not Solomon, Virgil, you are not my master at all. You are nothing but a malice. Don’t lump my master with you, you false king!!” Finally, at this moment, as if it couldn't endure any more, the creature spoke. Its enraged voice rang out from the inside of the cage and the bars rattled.
“Hahaha, this was the first time you had spoken… was it probably due to my brother’s news…?”
“… …”
“In any case, you can be relieved. I was actually planning something but my hands are suddenly tied. Dante had spoken. Thus, all I can do is sit and wait for him… this was our game. Since the first generation of Dante…”
“… The continuation of our game and the final stage…” Virgil evilly grinned. “However, that Mammon would be different. And of course, I am not planning on stopping him at all.”
!!?
“… Lucifer’s freedom was almost at bay and Mammon wouldn’t let anyone stop him. So he would surely do something about him… if he can’t deal with Mammon, then I would be sad…” Virgil made a wry and bitter smile that was extremely out of character for him. However, probably he did this just to in spite the creature before him.
And as expected, “Virgil, are you really going to be like this? You said you are my Master but why are like this. Behaving atrociously.” The creature cried out angrily.
“Didn’t you say that I’m just a malice of the former king…?” Virgil countered. “Hahaha, don’t make that kind of face, I will also feel sad, you know. You really don’t need to worry about him. He wasn’t someone who would fall just because of one demon like Mammon. After all, he had made that kind of declaration, meant that he has some confidence in his power.”
“… …”
“Besides, Asmodeus was with him. She can take care of him…”
“Asa?!”
“Ah, Asmodeus. But sadly, for you, I can’t let you leave. If Dante wanted to reach the stage where I am standing, he needed to deal with Mammon and surpass that tribulation with his own power for him to grow up. Babysitting him like what you all did before would only make him weak.”
“We didn’t!!”
“Oh really? Then what happened to the first Dante? I had defeated him due to all of you, gone. If you are not babysitting and spoiling him, then, even without all of you, Dante should have defeated me…” Virgil’s eyes narrowed in anger.
“Dante wouldn’t grow into a proper opponent if you always protect him. A cub is meant to be thrown into the wild alone, to sharpen his fangs and claws, to learn how to hunt and killed… alone…!! In that way, he will become a terrifying predator!!”
“A strong that wouldn’t be hunted by other predators.” Virgil snorted, “What did all of you do? Protecting him like some sort of treasure, not even letting him learn how to fight. And, what happened in the end…? When all of you are gone, he had become powerless.”
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“… …”
“This time, I wouldn’t let that happen! All of you can’t interfere…!!” Virgil roared as he turned around and started walking away.
"I would never let anyone spoil my fun!!" Virgil glared and the atmosphere within the room instantly fell.
“Just what do you want, Virgil!!?” The creature narrowed its eyes and asked.
“Me?” Virgil stopped and sent a faint smile that was commonly seen worn by Allen, “I just want to see who's better me or him… since the beginning, that’s all I ever wanted. Ever since I was born, he was always the King, and I had always been the shadow… but what was the difference between us? Why is he the one who was the King while I remained to be the shadow…?”
“I wanted to find the answer to that. Thus, I will do anything to seek for that answer.”
“But you are already stronger than him! Just what else do you want??!! You had defeated all but one fragment left and yet you still wanted to prove by killing the last one…? Is that what it was… Virgil?”
“All those fragments are not the real one.” Virgil chuckled.
“What?!” The creature in the cage was stumped, showing a confused expression.
“That damn God had done it. All he had scattered was mortal feelings and emotions of the one called as Solomon. And all of them didn’t carry his real soul. I don’t know how many there was, probably two, three, at least few soul fragments carried real souls in them. The potency was different from other fragments. That damn God had probably expected for this to happen all along.”
!!?
“And from all the fragments I had absorbed, the soul essence was absent. That is why I was looking for it desperately…” Virgil sneered. “This was not just a simple puzzle wanting to be completed… this is about life and purpose.”
Virgil stared at the cage, “You have said that I am nothing but a malice, yeah you are right. I indeed am just a malice, I won’t deny that. And so, I will do what I was created to and to do that, I won’t let anyone block me,”
“To do what?”
“To give him a test.” Virgil honestly answered.
“What?! What are you talking about?” The creature asked confused.
Virgil smiled. “Malice came around to test one’s heart and existence. And that is what I am going to do.”
“!!?”
“If he turned out that the King is weaker than me, then I don’t have a choice but to destroy him and take the crown for myself. As the malice and the shadow, I won’t let anyone exist that was stronger than the king! If Dante can’t do that, then I will do it myself!” Virgil declared with a confident tone.
“That is my purpose…”
The creature in the cage fell aghast. After a few moments of silence, it asked, “… If you really want that, then why are you trying to free the Demon King; Lucifer…?”
Virgil chuckled. “Simple. As the one who had crowned himself as the greatest creation of God, I will defeat him and steal the crown of being the greatest creation myself… in that sense, no one will become stronger than the King… ... than me…!!” Virgil’s pupils shrunk sharply.
The next moment, he burst into laughter.
“You are insane, Virgil! You will free that monster for such reason?!”
“It’s not ‘such reason’ at all. For me, it was my purpose…” Virgil’s voice turned solemn. His expression turned calm and serious.
“That is why, you can’t get out of there, Phoenix and help Dante. Let him sharpen his fangs and claws by himself… he doesn’t need all of you,” Virgil chuckled, a short laugh no more than two counts before the smile disappeared.
He glared sharply at her, and with a cruel tone soaked in frost said, “And if he still lose after that, then he wasn’t fit to be a King…that’s all there is to it,”
After speaking, Virgil turned around and left.
“… … …”
“Virgilll!!!!!”Phoenix roared in anger but Virgil didn’t return again, leaving her inside the tasteless cage.
“Virgil! If something happened to my master!! I will certainly kill you!! I swear!!!” Phoenix roared inside the cage, causing it to tremble.
Phoenix voice echoed through the entire castle.

The next morning, Mireya awoke to the blinding light of the sun shining through the window.
And to her surprise, aside from Asmodeus and Lama who was still sleeping, the spot beside her was already empty.
Mireya thought Allen had already left, but...he was actually waiting for them to wake up patiently in the same room as Allen could be found, sitting near the window, staring at them, still half naked.
His expression gentle and as the light shone down on him, it somehow gave him a seemingly makeshift halo, giving him a sacred look.
Sitting on the soft bed, smiling silly, Mireya looked up at Allen.
Completely mesmerized, she stared at his handsome looks. She noticed the nostalgic eyes that were looking at her passionately – as if wanting to swallow her whole.
This kind of moment, she had already experienced them before.
Although that place was messy, ringing and shouting noises around them, still she had always hope that that moment last forever. She had given up when she had taken her last breath, and those happy memories replaced by pain from that crying face holding her slowly turning cold body… but now, for God’s mercy, she had once again felt that kind of happiness.
Ah, what a joyful life. Her former life in her tribe would never be able to replace this.
“Do I have something on my face?” Allen unfolded his legs and asked with a playful tone. "The way you're looking at me...are you inviting me to kiss you? Hug you? Or..."
“Nope, I just thought, if every day I wake up and find you, sitting near the window, hailed by the sunlight and staring at me like that. I wouldn’t ask for more.” Mireya slightly blushed as she honestly responded with a gentle smile, “However, if this was a dream, then I would never want to wake up, ever again…”
Allen knew exactly what Mireya was referring to. She probably thought about the previous life…
Seeing her like this, his heart skipped a beat.
“Well,” He grinned as he stood up and walked over. Afterwards, his tall body came down on her, pinned down her hands on the bed and kissed her lips, “… if that really happened. I would be the one who will have it troublesome. Every day, I want you to wake up so that we could do everything we wanted to do, together. Much more than this…”
“… …” Mireya lied down on the bed comfortably, her nose almost touching Allen as she stared at his eyes directly, full of affection and love.
In front of her, in all of its glory, she could see Allen’s handsome nose bridge and his soft lips. She could even feel his strong arms pinning down on her, giving her complete security.
“Un,” she nodded her head. She then wrapped her arms around Allen.
She could feel his calm breaths, causing her to smile softly. Her dimples made her appear even more beautiful.
She swore inwardly. From now on, she wasn't going to let anyone hurt him again. She was going to keep what belonged to her, tightly in the palm of her hands.
Ever since the incidents in her previous life, Mireya had learned to cherish everything she had. She had already lost too much. And in this life, that wouldn’t happen again. She wasn’t going to let anyone snatch anything else from her, especially not… Allen.
No one would be able to take away her happiness again. Whether it was Gods or Demons, she swore she would protect him and their future with all her might and power.
As if reading her mind, Allen suddenly laughed gently as he kissed her on the tip of her nose, “Well, I won’t die… I promised you that.”
After this, there was nothing more to say.
