Chapter 402: [ Called a Hero ]

In some certain part of the Hall…

“Big brother Troy, isn’t that the fellow from the ball a few weeks ago? The one that was close with Lady Eerika? He appears very ordinary.” In a circle within the hall, a young man wearing magnificent clothes glanced at the spot where Allen was at and said as he smacked his lips with disdain. “Just because he possess some abilities doesn’t make him special…”

“Haha, There’s no choice since we are not as skilled as him.” Troy lifted his wine cup and said with a smile.

“Hei, it may be that fellow was someone pretending. You don’t know but I heard that, that fellow is a Demon?” Another young man sided with Troy and laughed.

“Ah, that rumor?”

“Hm, someone seemed to see him growing up horns and wings of a Fallen Angel…”

“Then, isn’t that bad? What if he was really an Enemy? Then Lady Eerika…?”

Troy heard the discussion from his companions and smiled, but did not speak. He did not open his mouth to absolve Allen.

“Still, look at that side…” A man who had once wanted to become close to Eerika similar to Troy could not help but say with an acidic mouth when he saw the smiling and chatting manner of the two of them.

“It seems that fellow has quite good luck with women. He is actually able to be so close with Lady Eerika and even Lady Anahita.”

“Tsk if he really is a Demon… Hmph!”

“I advise you to forget it,” As the young men’s discussion was starting to get heated up, someone suddenly appeared and joined in.

“Alva!”

Alva ignored the others and only looked at Troy with narrowed eyes, “Treat this as your sister’s advice, Troy, don’t mess with that man. You don’t know this but, those who had uttered those rumors about him were beaten to death by Eerika while sparing no one…”

!!?

Alva took shallow sips of the red wine. Her delicate finger gently tapped on the surface of the glass cup, emitting a clear sound. She lazily glanced at Allen’s direction and laughed softly, “And not just that, from what I had heard from mother, the Balder Clan was also doing the same. Those who had spread those rumors were oppressed by the Clan Elder and were even punished severely. I had even heard that the young princess of the Mimir Clan was doing something in the background as well…”

“… …” Hearing this, Troy and the other young men were at a loss.

“I don’t know what that youth was but… what I’m certain was that he’s not someone you can easily touch. Aside from those abilities he possesses that I had seen a while ago, he seems to have some importance to the Balder Clan and the Mimir Clan. Even if you like lady Eerika, don’t drag our Clan down with you… brother,” Alva smiled mysteriously. She gulped down the red wine in her cup in one go and the left.

A hidden gleam flashed across Troy’s eyes. However, following closely after that, his face once again recovered its indifferentness. As for the other young men, they had already long turned silent. No one had dared to go against Alva’s words as that girl’s position was only second to Eerika.

Her fame and prestige isn’t something they can compare.

Allen noticed someone was watching him. His gaze swept the entire hall and found almost everyone was indeed glancing at his location every now and then, however, that gaze was a bit different from the gaze from the rest.

One was cold and full of hate while the other was curious and full of interest.

Then, not long after, his eyes found the Norse Clan’s younger generation and in an instant, found the reason for those stares. A novel –esque type reason. But, what caught Allen’s attention was that one girl’s gaze.

Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.

It’s as if she knows something whenever she stares at him.

What could the girl know? And even she knows something, why would he care?

“Young Lord is there a problem…?” Noticing Allen’s expression, Lord Rajmund inquired softly.

Allen smiled wryly and waved his hands, “It’s nothing. Just a bit of cicada crying out of tune…”

??

“Hehe, anyway, Lord Rajmund, I don’t think this celebration is needed. I don’t think the monsters would give up just like that…”

Lord Rajmund nodded his head. “I know. I feel your worries and I also think so. However, this kind of celebration was needed to ease the populace worries and anxiety. Besides, we also wanted to celebrate our victory; it’s not something that bad.” He faced the interior of the hall and fondled his chin. He smiled and said, “Heroes need to get acknowledge and praised. With how terrifying the battle was, it is needed to calm the excited nerves of these youngsters who had faced such a war for the first time. Don’t you think so?”

“… …”

“Besides, half of the Elders of the Clan as well as our trusted soldiers were already moved out, guarding the City walls. If something did happen, they would certainly warn us immediately.”

“Well, I guess you have a point there. I apologize for my stiffness. I had gotten used to such a thing back in my hometown whenever there was a war.” Hearing the information, Allen could not help but shake his head and said with his lips curled.

“Ha ha. Well, that makes you strong. Although I had heard so much about you, even I did not expect that you are actually that capable. It’s hard to see you as a mortal who had just transcended in the Celestial Realm. I really wonder just what kind of world, did you grow up with?”

“… …” Allen smiled but he didn’t answer. Although he can reveal about his background but diving too deep can be said to be dangerous.

“… It’s a simple world, with law of the jungle as its main precept.” After a few moments of silence, Allen chooses to respond like this.

Lord Rajmund was a bit unsatisfied with the answer but he knows what to say or not to say in this kind of situation. Allen has probably some important issues regarding his homeworld. Thus, he chooses to brush it off.

“Well, I certainly admire the world that can groom someone like you. Now, news about you is being spread between many different clans in this Celestial Realm.” Lord Rajmund’s eyes stared at Allen closely as he said with some astonishment.

“Well, I don’t have anything I can say though. Even if my actions seemed to be that for every people, however, in truth, I only did it because of my friends …” Allen gaze swept over the large hall as he faintly replied.

“It might be despicable to say this but I am not someone who would move because of the people I don’t know, strangers to say the least. I only act this time because the Elders and some people within the Aryan Clan had treated me quite well…”

“I’m not someone to be called a Hero,”

Hearing Allen’s words, Lord Rajmund helplessly shook his head. He could only adopt a pretense and be courteous.

Allen was holding a round glass, a light yellow liquid bubbling inside it.

He was standing by the pond, the dazzling light in the hall casting shadows around him. Because he wasn’t used to parties where people laugh and chat with each other as if they were long friends, Allen excused himself for a while.

The moment the ball started, Allen was put through dances with Eerika, Baishe, and Anahita and until several women; young girls to madams came, offering a dance.

He dances with several women until finally, he slumped against the wall exhausted. Thus, with no other choice, he runs away as if he was escaping.

Baishe was particularly tough.

Her sense of rhythm was quite unique, probably because she originally a snake type mythical beast.

Even as a compliment, it couldn't be said that Allen was a terribly good dancer. Since he had never practiced, it was only to be expected. However, he never made a fumble such as stepping on his partner's foot. On the contrary, his steps were impeccable.

Stringing together observed behavior, past lives memories, and Godly reflexes then went to reproducing and finally adding some bits… one can say that Allen’s dancing was, beauty or elegance aside, perfectly and technically accurate.

In a sense, however, Baishe was the exact opposite.

Her execution and steps were completely off.

Rather than tone-deaf, it was more to say that she had an ingenious sense, such that despite her movements being subtly off for each sound, her dance still elegantly moved along with the flow of the song.

But because she looks extremely happy dancing with him, Allen cannot say anything and was then was forced to match both hers and the music, going along with the rhythm of the two and shunting his steps as necessary.

If not for his godly endurance and stamina, he was probably panting and totally exhausted by now. Thus, he has no choice but to run away.

Since Eerika was caught by some people from other God Clans, Allen now was left with only Baishe and Laura as a company. He walked around and suddenly finding him within a beautiful garden filled with colorful flowers, orchids, and cactuses. One can even imagine that you would find a beautiful garden like this within the center of a Desert.

Being a Monster King, Allen’s senses and perception of mana was monstrous. Thus, he can feel that everywhere around him was covered by a strange mana that felt divine and sacred. Probably this was the reason why this flowers that rarely seen in Deserts can happily grow here.

Divine Protection!

The three of them silently walked there with not another figure in sight.

However, it wasn't a complete silence.

It seems someone had opened a window as the sound of music could faintly be heard.

That soft sound lent the atmosphere a serene air, increasing the beauty and magnificence of the beautiful garden.

As Allen was walking, suddenly, a part of the dark night seemingly moved, and a figure that appeared to be even darker than the night appeared mysteriously. Even though this person was standing before them, the others except for Allen were unable to discern the features on his face.
