Chapter 672: [Athena's Ancient Temple(2)]
“An intruder?”
A voice sounded.
Allen felt his body shook and his expression drastically changed. His gaze turned towards the people that suddenly appeared before him. His mind reeling.
The one who talks first was a skeleton that was faint golden in color. There wasn’t any death energy on it and it instead appeared quite peaceful. Behind him was a pair of pure white wings, making him appear even more holy. He was without a doubt, not just a mere ordinary Undead King.
“You are still so young, it really is rather unexpected.” Even his skull was faint golden. The lower jaw was moving, releasing 'ka ka' sounds, but he was using sound waves, or probably divine energy to speak. “What a pity… since you come here, you are going to die without a doubt.”
Allen stands before him and didn’t say anything. He swept his gaze past this skeleton and looked towards the imperial-looking throne ahead of him. That should be Athena's former throne. However, it now looks ancient. What's more, there was someone sitting there with a slothful expression. It was a person wearing a golden robe sitting high above everyone else on the dragon or snake patterned throne.
“For someone to actually reach this far...indeed, quite praiseworthy…”
This was a red-haired male that looked extremely young. His face carried a slight smile as he taps rhythmically on the throne’s stone armrest.
Allen’s eyes were ice cold. He looked at the red-haired male and said, “Who are you?” he completely ignored the Undead King and went past directly to the red-haired youth sitting on the throne chair.
The danger he was feeling was coming from this red-haired youth the most.
He is dangerous!
The red-haired youth tilted his head, his gaze somewhat nostalgic as if he was recalling some past memories. “People call me many names when I was still active. Countless years had already passed and I had already forgotten my true name—but my family once calls me… Ares,” He calmly replied. He carefully sized up Allen and then clicked his tongue in wonder. “To have such power at this age, even a bit stronger than I was at your age ,you are worthy to hear my name.”
Ares…? Allen’s eyes narrowed. Don’t tell me… the Greek War God Ares…?!
No way, that can’t be…!
Even if he is, why is he here…?
Didn’t he die…?
No, wait… this is Temple is Athena’s Old Pantheon, him being here is also not impossible…!
But why is he here…?
Allen frowned. “You’re the Greek War God…? What the hell are you doing in this kind of place? And I heard you have fallen a long time ago, why are you still alive and living?!”
“Fallen…ah, right… I should have been,” Ares absentmindedly said. “It’s been too long and I have gotten bored. I couldn’t remember anything… the Olympian has fallen miserably and so as other God Clans.”
So it's really him…! Allen clicked his tongue.
Among other Greek Gods, aside from Zeus, the person that Allen least wanted to meet was none other than the Greek War God; Ares. In fact, Hades could be considered reasonable than this Violence-seeking freak in front of him!
Ares, aside from being a true muscle-brain, was a true--outrageous war seeking monger!!
“If you do know that, what are you doing in this kind of place…? War God Ares?” Allen muttered coldly and his aura exploded in anger. Even the Skeleton, the Undead King was a bit affected and step back. If not for his skull face, he would have displayed quite a shock expression.
Facing Allen’s outburst, the War God Ares just smiled. “…I thought you look familiar, so that’s how it is… it’s been so long Epimetheus. Where have you been all this time, my dear friend? You had disappeared so suddenly and without reason, I thought you had fallen long ago. And what's with that humanly appearance--Image change?”
The War God Ares smirked.
Epimetheus? Did he mistake me for someone else? But Allen was not in the mood to clear the misunderstanding as he glowered against the Greek War God in anger. “Ares! Answer me! You know what is happening in the Celestial Realm and you’re here hiding?! Is that an attitude befitting for a War God?!”
“Hiding…? That’s not it. You’re misunderstanding…” Ares chuckled and he slowly stood up. “…I’m not hiding…I’m bidding for time…!”
Ares grinned coldly.
“What??”
Allen's expression stiffened.
“The more chaotic it is the better the world becomes, don’t you think? When the Celestial Realm began its true war, isn’t that the best stage for…I, the God of War, Ares, appearance?!” Are smiled maniacally.
“Best stage? What kind of stupidity are you talking about?! When you are just satisfying your ego, the Celestial Realm is slowly getting destroyed! And you still think of these idiocracies…?!” Allen sneered in contempt.
“And so what?”
“What?” Allen’s eyes widened in shock as he saw Ares indifferent face. He suddenly has a misconception of having a bad hearing. However, Ares only snorted.
“Whether the Celestial Realm falls, or the Olympus turned into ruins, what so good about that place? Naive idiots who don’t know the glory and pleasure of war! Only in war can we see life and know the pleasure of having it…!”
“You’ve gone insane, Ares!!!” Allen cried out.
“Insanity or not doesn’t matter, my dear old friend, Epimetheus! Have you gone for so long that you have forgotten what Gods are? Destruction is merely good repentance for the sins we have committed all this time…why be so serious?” Ares laughed heartily.
“Kisi kisi kisi,” As Allen was totally enraged and was about to attack. Suddenly, at this moment a burst of eerie laughter came from the side. To the side of Ares throne, there were sounds of a creature moving and chewing something. Allen turned around, and his eyes immediately widened. A giant ratel could be seen eyeing Allen with fierce red eyes. It was chewing some kind of monster as if it was a snack.
Ares opened his mouth and said, “Deimos, don’t be so loud when you’re eating, it’s annoying.” he reprimanded.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“Eehh, it’s not as loud as brother Phobos when he is talking~”
Deimos? Phobos? So the Undead King is Phobos? And this is Deimos? What’s with their appearances…? But Allen didn’t have the mood to think about it.
His heart was just filled with rage and anger towards Ares.
“Give it up, Epimetheus. Leave this instance, I don’t want to make my appearance before the great battle nor do I want to waste my power before I can fight till my heart’s content!”
The gaze of Ares was sharp like a dagger and eruptive like a seething volcano. There was no hesitation in them at all. His deep crimson murderous intent shining at the very back of his eyes and there was no sign that he could be swayed. It seemed that, in the eyes of Ares, the well-being of the Celestial Realm and its survival meant nothing to him.
“…However, if you don’t treasure this kindness of mine, Ares, Epimetheus, I will kill you personally! In any case, this is a good chance. I was thinking of crossing blades with you one day. Your brother had given me quite a good time in the past. And I had suddenly missed those times. I have no idea how you got your hands on that power as it was completely different from before but... With this much power, I could not ask for a worthier opponent for my blade.”
As Ares said this he made a grin and then began walking again.
“Ares, your existence is never important before than this very moment! I will give you another chance to rectify your wrongdoings! Return to the Celestial Realm and protect it like the God you are!” Allen gnashed his teeth. He was not mistaken, nor did he thought of him wrong--Ares is still Ares, one of the greatest troublemakers in the Land of the Gods!
In fact, even the mischievous Monkey King seemed cute and reasonable than this hard-headed idiot.
“…you’re annoying me, Epimetheus!” Ares sneered.
“…Ares does your stupidity known no bound?! Nah, I guess that is the very reason why Athena dislikes you!” said Allen as Ares gazed at him as though daggers were going to come flying out.
Allen did not falter however and looked right back at him.
“Oh please, don’t mention that name before of me. It annoys me too much…” Ares then let out a small breath and smiled. “…However, that’s quite the sense of chivalry you have. Are you planning on becoming a hero or something?”
“Huh? Hell no,” replied Allen who smiled back at him. “Heroes can just go to hell. I’m Allen Bando. I’m not good or evil, and I don’t want either. I’m just a guy…a guy that hates your guts as much as Athena does, Ares…!”
“I see, you’re the type of person I hate. Then, die, Epimetheus!” His eyes shined like a sword. His words so cold it felt as though one would freeze. Though he was just similar in stature with Allen, unusually powerful mana and bloodthirst were emanating from him. Ares who was just behaving indifferently just now then unleashed his entire power without holding anything back.
“…In war, there is no good or bad, it’s victory and defeat!” In that instant, their surroundings were enveloped in flames as the temperature started rising significantly. Then, on Ares right hand appeared a sword. It was a long sword of most sinister design. Red patterns then started to form on both the handle and pitch-black sheath. The sheath itself seemed normal and novel enough but no one could imagine the power of the blade that resided within it.
No matter how one thought about it, it seemed as though it would be impossible for someone to unsheathe such a sword with such an ominous shape.
However, words could not hope to describe the sense of intimidation one felt from the long sword. It was as though a bloodthirsty wolf had transformed into a sword. Ares then held the sword’s sheath in his left hand and made his stance with it by his side. He then put his right hand on the handle and lowered his body as he glared at Allen’s direction.
“Show me that you can last at least a few rounds, Epimetheus. If you do that then I will recognize you as an enemy.” A ferocious grin then appeared on his face and immediately after that he closed the distance between himself and Allen using the explosive power of his legs. However, in the next instant, he completely vanished, as he had just teleported, surpassing the very concept of speed by allowing one to move at super speeds.
At this point in time, one could not even register that he even used the technique so one could say that his “Warp” was his secret to being able to slay his opponents without fail. No matter how many people witnessed it they probably would not be able to follow his movements at all, even if it was the other Gods before him.
The next place where Ares appeared was directly behind Allen.
The air around him distorting somewhat like a ripple in a pond as the king revealed himself.
“…Been a while since someone’s got me this angry!!” Putting all his strength in his right hand so as to cut through Allen’s completely exposed opening. With his unsheathing of his sword at such an unnaturally high speed, he would be able to show off the special quality of his artifact as much as he liked.
Booooom! An explosion occurred along with the ground bursting into pieces. However, the eyes of the War God; Ares narrowed. He then saw that before the sword reached him, Allen suddenly disappeared. “There!” Amidst the smoke and dust, Ares sword twirled in the air and Claaang! blocked the sword that sweeps on is flank.
“You took the words right out of my mouth—ARESSS!!” Allen’s voice rang out like a clap of thunder.
“Good! Good! Epimetheus! You’re making my blood boil!!!” Ares laughed wildly as Allen’s figure appeared from the clouds of dust and smoke, both hands holding the sword with crystal-like blades and both as tall as one meter.
“ARESSSSSSS!!!” Allen cried out in rage. His pair of swords seemed to be blue crystals made into long swords, appearing beautiful and work of art!
They are Twin Crystal Star Sword Form by Rebellion after devouring dozens of magic crystals and precious jewels.
Each of the swords is comparable to Rebellion’s original form.
“AAaahhhhhHHHH!” A white streak of light flew through the air and struck the blazing sword of Ares, causing sparks to spray out. As a loud noise resounded—a flash speed battle that can never be followed by the naked eye occurred.
Crimson and Snow-white arcs of light flashed within the two warriors. Both of them had even already forgotten as to how much exchange just now, they just brandished their weapons crazily and without pause. Ares smile becoming wider while Allen’s ferocity becomes even stronger!
Baaaang!!
A loud noise of metals clashing echoed in the entire layer and the distance between Allen and the Greek God of War widened.
“Good! Epimetheus! You have truly made me delighted!!”
“You have gone truly insane Ares! Have your brain been fried for staying all this time in this heat?!” Allen scowled. His both large crystal swords one in a back grip stance while the other was in a forehand grip, pointing at Ares. Allen’s killing intent exploded and it was not even inferior to Ares.
Whether it was Ares, or his sons, Phobos and Deimos, all of them changed their expressions the moment they sensed Allen’s aura. Their expression revealed excitement of insanity—at this very moment, they finally saw Allen as a qualified contender!
Crack! Flash! Crack!
Their auras clashed in the air, like two invisible orbs clashing against each other, wanting to swallow the others.
HeeeEEEEyyyyyyyaaaAAAAHHH———!!!!
ROOoooooooooOOaaaaaaaaAAArrr———!!!!
Then, suddenly an indistinct figure both appeared on the back of the Greek War God and Allen. Both carried powerful and terrifying auras that seemed to cow all heavens and earth. They both seemed alive and intimidating, even Phobos and Deimos who were watching the battle step back due to the both image’s aura.
Around the Greek War God; Ares, a red glow appeared around him as his flaming red hair swayed in the air—displaying the prestige of a War God. The red glow which filled the surrounding tens of thousands of meters, transformed into a red mist. The mist churned and seethed, rising up into the air in shocking fashion. It changed; no longer was it wide and flat, but rather, turning into a beast—
ROOoooooooooOOaaaaaaaaAAArrr———!!!!
The roar shook everything. The instant the roar could be heard, a pair of gigantic paws slammed on the ground at each side of Ares. It had razor-sharp claws and luxuriant, long fur. The paw continued to stretch out revealing an entire limb. The beast has a long hair flowed loosely and was filled with a barbaric, wild air, and the claws seemed capable of ripping the air open.
The head of the beast that was manifested because of Ares Bloodlust and Murderous Intention that could never be satiated no matter what—was… incredibly large!
The head was clearly that of a dog!
Red fur, ferocious fangs, and a savage, barbaric aura that exploded out. It was standing there behind Ares, straight and mighty.
It was huge, covered with loose, red fur. Bone spurs stuck out all over its body, making its appearance even more ferocious. Its gaze was filled with bloodthirstiness, like a Qilin or a Blood lion. However, what caught Allen’s attention was that, on the Beast’s back, was a pair of large feathery wings with a dark plumage akin to that of a vulture. It glared at Allen with a ferocity that seemed to want to him rip him apart with its claws and fangs.
The level of incredible fierceness that it emanated was difficult to describe!
Anyone who looked at the beast would feel extreme fear and shock, and would even lose the ability to think clearly. The sight would cause the brain to fill with roaring, as if one were in the middle of a sea of blood, incapable of freeing oneself.
It seemed as if in this instant, all lives became the color of blood.
However, Allen was still calm and unperturbed. He was also not someone to be underestimated.
Allen's avatar as well appeared in full form.
Snow-white colored flames appeared around him as he glared at Ares before him.
A beautiful silhouette stood majestically behind him, with the beauty that can destroy nations and countries.
