Chapter 475: [ In this battle, I won! ]

“Who are you?!” Hanjin asked but his voice was devoid by any kind of anger, only doubt and suspicion. Who was she? Why had she appeared here…?

Her beauty had indeed startled and shocked Hanjin, even to the point of stirring his emotions.

“… …” However, the woman didn’t answer and instead, bent down in front of the unconscious silver-haired youth, sighing helplessly.

“You damn guy, why are you always in this kind of situation…?” The woman placed his hand on Allen’ face and lifted slightly. Allen’s face was pale white and blood even oozed out from his mouth.

An unsightly expression appeared on the face of the beautiful woman, and complex feelings arose in her heart. Seeing Allen who really becomes completely unconscious, the beautiful woman couldn’t help but once again sigh in helplessness. Then, she waved her hand and from under Allen’s body, vines rooted and coiled around Allen’s body.

Then, besides Allen’s position, a large flower suddenly bloomed open, and then as if devouring him whole, Allen was devoured by the flower that looked like a massive tulip.

?!!

Seeing this, Hanjin’s eyes widened in shock and terror flashed within his mind. He felt as if he can imagine being devoured by a flower as well. Although Hanjin was seriously injured, it still retained enough battle strength. Especially in a situation where he was intent on escaping, he waved his burning claws about and the stalk clusters of the vines were cut off as if they were grass being mowed down, scattering everywhere on the ground.

“Who are you!! Let go of me!! If you don’t want to die, let go of me!!” Hanjin wailed and screamed but the vines still continued to pounce towards Hanjin no matter how much he had cut them, using the stalks which served as their upper limbs to encircle his body.

Unknowingly, countless cotton-like spores started to float down from the flowers that were blossoming from the stalks and vines. However, unlike the tulip that had devoured Allen whole, massive maws with sharps fangs that looked like massive venus flytraps appeared around Hanjin—watching his every movement as if waiting for an opportunity to pounce on him.

The worst thing was that the moment these spores came into contact with the vines or fell on the ground, clusters of new vines and flowers started to grow from them.

The more Hanjin tried to cut, the more vines and flowers bloomed on the ground.

In the blink of an eye, a mini sea of flowers had formed.

These countless plant extended their stalks, twisting, and twining as they unfurled towards Hanjin’s body.

Many of those that look like massive venus fly traps which encircled Hanjin, bared their fangs and opened their mouths wide.

“I said let me go!!” Hanjin felt dread and terror running through his spine. But the beautiful woman only watched the scene without doing anything. Her enchanting face that has an ability to bring calamity to people was, as of this very moment, very cold!

She watched Hanjin struggled with an expressionless face.

“Letting you go is impossible…” Suddenly, the beautiful woman’s cold voice rang out.

“What?!” Hanjin was startled. He turned his head fiercely and glared at the beautiful woman. He didn’t think of her as a beautiful goddess anymore but an ultimate devil!

"Why? What did I do to offend you!!”

"Why? Do you need to ask why? Hurting my master is another matter but wanting to devour him…?" the mysterious beautiful woman snorted coldly and continued, “Hmph! I guess this is also my fate as a servant of a troublesome master…!”

“What master! Who are you talking about!!?”

“Are you really an idiot? A Monster King like master couldn’t even understand this quickly…?”

“Eh?!” Hanjin’s eyes widened.

He had suspected such a possibility. In fact, he already had a premonition the moment the beautiful woman appeared before he could kill the youth completely.

However, he had to toss this idea aside after seeing the youth being devoured by the flower as if wanting to kill him—but was that really the case…?

“You’re that abnormal’s—!!?”

“Indeed, I am…” The beautiful woman smiled enchantingly and bowed. “Forgive my late greetings, exalted Monster King—I was once worshipped as a lesser Goddess in the mortal realm but had fallen from grace. Maria Makiling… Now, I am just a simple and ordinary fairy in servitude of my new master—though calling him my master is a bit strange and farfetched…in any case, I can be called his guardian angel now~”

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“What?!” Hanjin was dumbfounded. However, this had become an opportunity for the vines and flowers to entwine themselves tightly around Hanjin. Even the massive maws started gnawing on his skin. Although they are able to bit even a small chunk out of his flesh but for some reason, Hanjin felt as if something was being injected inside his body.

Poison…?

“It’s not just a bite…” These plants used their sharp teeth as a mediator to insert poison into my body…?!!

Even my body, in a depleted and exhausted condition, it would be really hard to defend from this…

… In the two seconds where Hanjin was disoriented by the realization, the vines stalk clusters entangled themselves around him so tightly and thickly that only his head was left outside. There were thousands and hundreds of stalks and vines that twined and entangled with each other, tying Hanjin so tightly, keeping him from making any move.

The power of his volcanic flames had no use on them at all. There were numerous big mouths waiting to devour it. Every time the fiery flames were ignited, countless mouths pounced on them to take them in.

“Ha ha ha ha!!” Seeing this, Hanjin raised his head and laughed in a desolate manner…

“Never thought I would die like this…” Hanjin said in a gloomy voice. His eyes flashed with hatred, as well as a pleasant surprise.

He had actually become a fertilizer—!!

He had lived for many years and experienced many things. Hopeless battles and wars that he had survived in the end. And yet… his end would actually be like this…?

Hahaha, what a laughable absurdity. Hanjin knew that all people will endure setbacks in their lives. However, to transform a setback into a treasure can make life truly glorious.

He had thought of this when he had won and had the chance to devour a Monster King like Allen, surely the moment he had eaten Allen, his power would skyrocket. Monster King of Cheery Slaughter wouldn’t even have a chance against him again!

Maybe he was right, but sometimes, fate can be cruel.

Today… he ran into someone like Allen.

“I wouldn’t even bother…” Maria Makiling sighed and fell silent for a long moment, its expression one of complexity. Finally, her gaze came to fall on the flower that was healing Allen within it. “However, you just have to pose a threat to this fellow so, even though I don’t like it, I don’t have an option to keep you alive… I owe my life to this fellow after all—no matter what kind of enemies he has, I don’t have a choice but to protect him…”

“Are those words for consoling me…?” Hanjin gave an ice cold laugh and spoke, “It doesn’t need. I know that I won’t survive today—however, remember this, I didn’t surrender to him nor was I was defeated by him!! In this battle, I won!!”

What a uselessly high pride…Maria Makiling inclined her head to look at Hanjin which was slowly being surrounded by many flowers and plants. She had a sharp expression in her eyes.

“I wasn’t intending to—whether you won or not is not of my concern. And those words are not for you, just my muttering—a self-persuasion, perhaps…” It is meant to console myself or persuade myself… nothing else…

It was in this moment that the ground below Hanjin suddenly emitted a shocking rumbling sound. It almost sounded as if something deep inside was roaring. The ground shook, and the countless vine-like plants and flowers that surrounded him began to twitch and writhe in bizarre fashion.

Then, from deep within, a massive Venus Flytrap appeared—its head was so big it almost the size of an entire basketball court. Its mouth had countless sharp fangs and razor teeth, it has no eyes but the long tongue hanging on the mouth was slimy, sticky and seemed to be a real tongue of a human or an animal.

Seeing this, Hanjin can only laugh coldly for his absurd end. He didn’t fight anymore as he couldn’t—the poison was taking effect, it seems like it was not intending to kill him but instead, numbing his every nerve. If he was on his peak, he would have no problem fighting any poison but right now—his power was slowly diminishing.

A pity—a real pity. He really did have suffered greatly from that last attack…

Chump!

When Hanjin closed his eyes, the gigantic flytrap opened his gaping maw and devoured Hanjin whole. However, who knows how long would it take for it to completely digest the Monster King of the Blood Desert Oasis. Although he couldn’t escape, the Man-Eating Plant Monster also had a hard time to swallow him.

Fortunately, the Man-Eating Plant Monster’s toxic was extremely strong that it causes Hanjin to fall asleep during the process while it seized this opportunity to slowly absorb its body’s energy and magic power it recovered.

Seeing this, Maria Makiling sighed. Then, her gaze turned towards the floating orb that had apparently come out from the fissure Allen had created by its sword’s attack. The Orb was crimson in color with the size of a basketball. And the although it still looked unblemished from afar, but if one looks closely, a small crack could be seen on its smooth surface.

“Was that the core…?” Maria Makiling frowned. With a wave of a hand, a cluster of vines immediately run towards it and grabbed it. It then slowly walks towards Maria Makiling, giving the Orb.

Maria Makiling inspected the Orb and found out that it indeed possess quite a significant amount of Magic Power. There seemed to be even a small rock that was emitting a hot sensation within it.

“Monster Core…” Maria Makiling’s brows furrowed. So that’s why that monster was almost impossible to kill—he had separated his Core from his body to avoid it being hurt… what a cunning way of survival…

Too bad, it’s not compatible with mine—besides, giving it to others would be a bit waste—Maria Makiling turned her head and looked at the flower behind him.

Master’s magic power is a bit unstable right now, probably because of that sudden surge of power…

“It is really unexpected that this fellow is actually still hiding another trump card. Just what kind of power was that…? Even myself trembled from that coldness…” Remembering that scene, Maria Makiling’s pupils were shocked by the majestic cold force that was surging out.

When Allen had faced danger, she had already prepared herself to intervene and save him. Although she couldn’t see a chance of victory, even still, she would appear and at least let Allen escape. Her life had been given to her back so of course, she wouldn’t mind paying Allen back using her life.

Then, that power appeared—that really shocked her.

It seems like her master had some kind of secret she didn’t know yet…
