Chapter 714: [War]
--In the Land of the Gods; One of the Major still surviving God Clan; Asgard--
HOOOOOOOOONGGG!!
A loud horn bellowed from within the city!
The people and warriors of the city immediately gather.
This is the sixth time this month; the gap between each wave becomes shorter, displaying the impatience held by the demons.
Not knowing when and where this farce would end, and knowing that all of this was just delaying the inevitable, all the people still clung on one hope, that they would still survive one day and end this suffering. Thus, they grasped their swords; with only one thing in their mind… to survive!
Not thinking how or when…
The Gods wouldn’t abandon them…
There would still come a day when they would be paid back from their hard work and sufferings…!
…steeling their minds, they stand at the top of the City Wall, full of determination and firm spirits.
They lifted weapons of varying length and seemed to be worn out, even though they were wonderfully maintained throughout the time. However, apart from cold weapons, there were actually new additions, as even ordinary citizens held one gun and cannons each, those that cannot be found in the world of the Gods.
{A-Artifacts} or so it was called due to the source of all these magnificent and convenient weapons.
Also because of these wonderful artifacts that cannot be easily replicated even by the dwarves due to the delicate balance of science and magic, it became one of the greatest sources of hope to the people of Asgard.
The Dwarves have nothing but praises on the creativity and functions of these items and weapons that Allen couldn't help but wonder if this would be the beginning of the expansion of technology within the Celestial Realm that seemed to have stalled in time.
Holding those weapons, they stood on the city walls, facing the dark army of vicious beasts in the distance.
In the city, one could only see their backs.
Even in the dark pall of night, one could see that many of them had backs bent with age and heads of scraggly white hair. They are the civilians that picked up weapons and stand up at the top of the wall, silently and dutifully continued protecting their home.
These people were like a wall of steel that stood there tall and proud, bound by their faith and duty…
They were true warriors!
When the demons arrived, they didn’t have the qualifications to fight them head-on. This was because, in front of a boulder, an egg was nothing. Trying to rush it would mean nothing but dust and death. Yet now, facing this annihilation, the time for them to battle had approached…
This is war…
This… would likely be the last battle of their lives…
In the face of imminent death, these warriors were incredibly calm, as if at this moment what they faced wasn’t the Demon Legion that destroyed all life, but peaceful days where they were reunited with their families, where they were able to sit together and gaze upon the setting sun.
And that moment had come...
“Today, we fight!”
At the top of the city walls, the God Tyr grasped a long sword and shouted out his declaration of battle.
Although his declaration was only a mere three words, it was more than enough.
Yes, as a warrior, even if you are powerless, one can still become a warrior- a warrior only armed with incredible bravery and courage!
A Warrior that is enough to be recorded in the annals of history!
Every person was a Hero; they had their own life mission and their own glory.
That was – to fight!
To defend what is important to them.
In the perilous moments when their race faced annihilation, the fate of a warrior should not be to die miserably beneath the suppression of their enemies, but to heroically die upon the bloody battlefield!
Behind them, their children, their elders, their wives, all had already started walking towards the city walls.

Some hugged their children and some people knelt down to kiss the earth.
This wilderness was a land they had nourished with their sweat, where they had planted the seeds of hope.
If they had to die here, then let their blood serve to water these lands!
If they had to die here, then let their pain and suffering be the water that pours on the next generation!
Roar!
Roar!!!
Roar!!
The demonic beasts that blotted out the skies had already rushed to the city walls.
Seeing this, a figure sitting at the top of the tower smiled as he faced this despairing scene that seemed to be out from a fantasy- apocalyptic movie.
“Well, isn’t this a wonderful display? What a terrifying line-up it is. I can even see several Knights of Hell and Malebranche, not to mention, the Pillars…what a great casting for a huge party,”
He was laughing loudly, but still, his eyes were not.
At the top of one of the towers, a group could be seen, consisting of humans and beasts.
In front of this group was a long black-haired youth tied in a ponytail, wearing a fur cloak and black pants. His handsome face hanging an amused smile. On his bosom, was a golden colored Mouse-like creature—Lightning, watching the demon legion with gleaming red eyes. It was already so excited to the point that it was already emitting golden sparks.
“Don’t you think this quite dangerous…?”
Mair muttered with a wry smile after hearing Allen’s carefree words.
“They’re nothing…”
The one who answered her was the golden-haired beautiful woman with a cold and indifferent expression.
Princess of the Frost Giants, Princess Ilse.
She stood behind Allen with half-lidded eyes, bored and somewhat indifferent.
If not for Allen’s insistence, she could care less about what happened to this world, much less to Asgard. She still had some unresolved grievances towards Asgard, and she was just setting it aside due to Allen’s existence. But if not, hmph, even if Asgard was destroyed in front of her, she would not really care, in fact, she would even throw a celebration party.
However, unfortunately, Allen seemed to be hell-bent on protecting Asgard. Hence, with quite a reluctant emotions surging, she could only follow.
“However, would this really be alright… even with the High Gods with us, if all we can do is defend, there’s no end to it…” Eerika asked in doubt and worry.
“But there’s nothing we can do…”
Mair shook her head.
“…well, we can only win the battle in the surface and hope that my other self could stop Mammon and Vergil down in the Underworld…Though, the chances of him succeeding are extremely low…”
“Was the Underworld really that dangerous of a place?”
“Dangerous is not enough to describe it… it’s a world full of unpredictability and horror. Beings straight out from your nightmare exist there... though, for sinners and depraved, its a heavenly paradise.”
Allen replied with an apathetic voice as he stared at the legions of demons and monsters in nostalgia.
Then, suddenly...
“…Wa?! Is that?”
At this moment, Mair’s eyes widened in shock.
“Allen… is that,”
Her hand stretch out and point into the skies, slightly trembling.
In the deep night skies, the blood moon hung high in the air. And in front of that blood moon, a massive black shadow appeared.
The shadow unfurled its wings, looking like a demon god of the night.
That… was a Black Dragon!
“Dr-dragon!?”
Eerika too stood up in shock, utterly shocked.
ROOOOOAAAAARRRR—!!
The Black Dragon raised its head, its pair of horns jutting out into the heavens.
Then, it emitted a roar!
This majestic roar echoed through the world, carrying with it a horrifying pressure that impacted into the highest heavens and broke into the starry skies!
Within the city, everyone was dazed.
Many of them looked up into the skies.
This was the pressure of a Sovereign Beast. Every person could clearly feel that because of this Black Dragon’s roar, the originally manic demon legion just outside the city gates had suddenly frozen in its tracks.
Countless demons and monsters tumbled to the grounds due to their momentum, and some of them crashed into the city walls.
This is surely a true Dragon…
But why?
“How is this possible?! Why is a true Dragon here?!”
“A true Dragon Lord? That’s impossible! Dragons have gone into seclusion and would not want to interfere in the mundane affairs!”
“NO,”
Allen’s eyes narrowed as he slowly stood up.
“That’s Nidhogg…”
“Nidhogg?!!”
Mair and Eerika stared at Allen aghast.
“How is that possible?! I heard that the Corpse Dragon was banished into Helheim?!”
“I don’t know… but that is surely Nidhogg!”
Allen shook his head, wondering as well.
"Even if it turns to ashes, I would still recognize it."
The Dragon’s body is covered in gleaming black scales, and horns erupt from his head. Under its large body, a pair of forelegs, complete with massive claws, could be seen.
But unlike True Dragons, it has no back legs, only a serpentine tail. Beneath its bat-like wings, rather than a feather, however, there, could be seen were bones and corpses attached to it.
It is truly Nidhogg, the infamous [Malice Striker]…
Roooooooaaaarrrr!!
–listening to its roar, Allen’s eyes narrowed.
“That Dragon…”
Princess Ilse also did the same as she glared at the dragon…
“…it has no consciousness…!” she muttered gravely.
Allen nodded his head in response.
“He’s being controlled…”
“Controlled? The Corpse Dragon? Who can do something like that?!” Mair shrieked in horror.
For someone to be able to control a monster in the level of a Corpse Dragon, an Apocalyptic Monster—
Just what kind of existence could do that?
Allen grinned coldly, “No, there’s only one I can think of, and I can feel his existence in this war…”
“Who?”
“…the demon of impurity, and the speaker of lies… Belial…”
ROOOOOOOAAAAARRRR!!!
When the Nidhogg once again, roared, suddenly from the ground, countless undead started coming out like some sort of horror movie.
“Now, the party truly started... and it's Halloween themed party!”
Allen smiled wryly.
With the Demon Legion, and now Nidhogg and Belial… well, isn’t this too much…?
… …
Not only Asgard but all the surviving God Clans has also been once again placed in a great dilemma.
In Olympus…
“We’ll be able to beat them up if we attack from the front and the back, we can pinch them all out in one fell swoop!”
Ares mattered as he looks at the large map placed in the table.
“Ares, are you insane?!”
Athena cried out in anger.
“Aside from the fact that we are lacking in number, this is not the final fight! What we needed to do is defend Olympus and save our fighting force till the last battle! We can defend one place at that time, rather than try to place the lives of our forces in jeopardy!”
“Why are you so scared, Athena… the best defense is attacking them and wiping them all out!”
Ares snorted in contempt.
“You’re an idiot, Ares! Do you even know how much the number of our enemies is? Composition? Tactics? Power level?”
“Everything would be in vain in front of absolute power!”
Ares declared ever so proudly.
“Damn it…!!”
Athena gnashed her teeth in anger.
Although I’m thankful for this idiot’s help but…damn it, Allen! You gave me another headache!!
…well, Athena had her hands full in…really, complicated stuff.
