Chapter 66: [ Reconnected communication ]

Although she already deemed it as nothing but a big delusion on his brother’s part but no matter who heard about it, they wouldn’t be able to help but become interested.

Anyone in her position would feel like they were listening to a fairytale and would hate it if they couldn’t hear the entire story.

“… Right after the war began, a young man in black cloth happens to pass by. It was said that he was in the middle of his travel around the world or some other reason, but because he was so suspicious, they tried to capture him and interrogate him.”

“And then…?” Sun Yinyun was now very interested. This plot was interesting… just who made this?

Was it that young man? Maybe he was a writer?

Sun Yueli doesn’t know the mess in his sister’s head and thought that she was now starting to believe it, so he continued,

“… the young man in black was irritated. It was said that with a snap of his finger, countless monsters rushed towards the soldier’s camp from the forest. In one night the hundreds of soldiers were annihilated, causing the war to immediately cease.

When the other camp heard about what happened to their enemy’s camp, they were flabbergasted and immediately tried to investigate.

… That’s where they realized that the young man was actually the one with the Ten Million Bounty and immediately became anxious. They stopped the war and contacted the other countries…

Not long after, each country sends their strongest forces to subjugate the youth but all of them failed.”

“… don’t tell me, this youth you’re talking about was the one who you’re calling the Beast King.”

“Yeah, he was the one…” Sun Yueli nodded his head.

“… this story came from the survivors of that annihilated camp while telling everyone, how terrifying the young man in black was.

They then started calling him the [ The Monster ] since then, though this name was immediately changed into the [ Beast King ] when he joined the [ Dawn Alliance ] later.”

Sun Yingyun was already staring at Sun Yueli’s face!

When she listened to Sun Yueli’s narration, she could not help but let out a cry of “nicely written” in her heart!

The story was really written nicely!

Whoever wrote it is an amazing writer!

On the other hand, the way Tong Fu was looking at his boss was full of alarm and doubt!

Isn’t that too much?

If not then, did he try to provoke someone like that? Isn’t that asking for death?

“… Brother, I think someone brainwashed you! It must be that man, right! Don’t worry, I will surely make him pay!” Sun Yingyun did not hold back on her words and tone.

Huh? Sun Yueli’s eyes widened on its maximum upon hearing what his sister had said.

Bullsh*t, what was this girl saying?!

“I can’t believe such ridiculous nonsense. Don’t you realize it for yourself how ridiculous what you are saying all this time? Please just think about it!”

“… …”

“Brother, please realize it already. If not then you should just go and write some novels instead. How could you come up with such crazy story and speak as though it really happened.”

“… …”

“Brother, please…”

“What the hell are you talking about Xiao Yun!?” Sun Yueli roared in anger and his fist pounded on the table.

“No, really brother, I think something was done to you.” Sun Yingyun gave her brother a worried look and then it turned into a despising look, “It must have been done by that bastard! How low of him to use such despicable means to give himself a halo!”

At this moment, something snapped inside Sun Yueli’s brows. His forehead was twitching with his vein visibly rising to the surface. The protruding veins almost looked like giant earthworms.

“Xiao Yun, you’re talking nonsense!” Sun Yueli exploded! He stood up from his seat angrily while glaring at his sister.

He only told her this story even though he knew how unbelievable it was because he wanted to tell someone the glory he had witnessed in his past life. It’s like boasting your new achievement to someone else or tells someone about your idol and their awesomeness…

But not only didn’t she believe him! She actually questioned the authenticity of his heroes?!

It’s alright if he was called insane or crazy but he would never let anyone tarnished them!

The heck! These are my heroes! They are the world’s true heroes and yet you looked at them with disdain!?

Even if you are my sister, this bro refuses to have his beliefs shaken today!

You can bully me!

I won’t care if you bully others too!

But you questioned my idols? No way!

Looking at her brother’s outburst, Sun Yingyun and Tong Fu was stunned silly. They didn’t expect for him to react exaggeratedly.

It’s as if someone had stepped on his tail!

But that should be normal.

Sun Yueli was one of the most fanatic believers in the [ Dawn Alliance ].

When they had lost faith and started believing that God had already abandoned them, the ones who brought them back from the abyss of despair and give them hope was the ten leaders that were standing on the summit of humanity; [ The Ten Kings ].

Their belief and faith on them were unshakeable.

And Allen knows about this, that is why he refrained from telling anyone about the other King’s betrayals. It was a thing better left unknown.

In the first place, the one who betrayed them was his fellow Kings and so, it’s only natural to end this farce by a King and not its citizen!

It was their problem… and only they have the right to judge them!

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

That is why, although his King betrayed the humanity along with the others but Sun Yueli didn’t know it and so, he still believes about them and worship them. For the fanatics, the most serious crime one done to them is to questioned and mocks their idols… because they are their gods!

Sun Yingyun suddenly felt at a loss of what to do.

--- ---

He was dreaming.

Inside the quiet room, something suddenly rang.

Allen woke up. In a state of confusion, he touched himself all over before he finally found the communicator vibrating in his pocket.

He yawned as he answered the call, “Hi, I know, the answer is je t'aime…”

“Ha?” a doubtful voice responded.

He sleepily answered, “This voice…”

“Whose voice do you think it is?” It was a familiar girl’s voice.

“Oh if it isn’t my wife… is the communicator already usable?” Allen joked as he really missed this woman.

“It’s good to know that you already admit it…” Cluck, Cluck! A happy chuckle could be heard from the other side. “… But even so, you really did too much this time, you know.”

“About what…?”

“Why did you go to Alkrasha without telling me about it?” Mia said angrily, “… Do you know how worried I was?!”

Allen subconsciously scratches his cheek while wearing a wry smile.

Everything just happens too fast and he couldn’t find any time to let her know about his plans.

In the first place, although he was really looking for strong monsters he could ally with and even already had several possible candidates such as; the Elf Queen, Snow Wolf Princess, the Atlantis King; Oceanus, and all the monsters that the former ‘Him’ had tamed and befriended, however, the possibility of them agreeing could still be said, not favorable.

After all, who knows if they still remembered him or not…

So something like that was left for later.

Then at that moment, Thumbeline suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Looking at her, Allen’s heart strings were touched and immediately made an unexpected and on the spot decision.

Alkrasha was one of the strongest Demon Generals and if he could pull her on his side, it would certainly be a huge boost to his strength. That is why he made a gamble upon hearing from Thumbeline that Alkrasha was also looking for him.

- Though he surely never expected for the Insect Queen to really fall for him…

I guess I was really fortunate this time…

Even so, calling it as merely fortunate seemed to be extremely understated but, sadly no one could tell him that.

“... I’m okay, I’m sorry I worried you.” And so, Allen honestly apologized.

Besides, it was already over, and Allen did not have a hobby of boasting about his achievements to anyone.

He wasn’t all-knowing and all his plans were merely a gamble that could be said to be somewhat idiotic and foolish. And so, he doesn’t want to involve other people, so that if ever he had failed, then there would be someone behind him who will learn from his mistakes and choose another path …

… And lastly, for the most important reason of all: It was just simply troublesome to talk about it, too.

“…Ha…” A bitter sigh came out through the Communicator that looked like an iPhone or a PSP game console.

“Anyway, it’s fine as long as you’re safe.”

“Well, truthfully, you really don’t need to worry about me; I won’t kick the bucket that easily…”

“…Hmm, anyway, I’m not the only worrying about you. Lieri was consumed with guilt all this time for letting you go alone…”

“That’s bad, isn’t it? Tell her she doesn't need to, for me please…”

“Then how about Lerina? She’s worried to death, you know?”

“Really?” Allen’s hand holding the communicator trembled for a moment and his voice turned slightly strange. “Is she there?”

“No, I didn’t tell her yet that the communicator was finally usable.”

“…is that so…” For a moment, Allen felt relieved.

“Allen, I’m not stupid and I can see that you are avoiding her…”

“… …” Allen turned silent.

“If not, you would have already looked for her immediately. I know how important she is to you, but seeing that you haven’t and even didn’t made at least a single call to her, it’s too obvious. I believe, even Lerina herself seemed to already have suspicions about it. Though she was still hiding it or maybe denying it…”

Listening to Mia’s words, Allen let out a long, deep sigh. “…I don’t know what to say to her…”

He admits it.

… And felt enormous pain from it.

“… I don’t know how to face her after all this time. For her, it must have been just a few months but for me, it’s already a few years. It felt awkward…”

“It’s not just that right?”

“… …” Hearing Mia’s question, Allen’s hands suddenly tremble slightly. A hint of sadness flashed for a moment in his eyes before he lowered his head.

He closed his eyes slowly and took a deep breath once again.

When he opened his eyes, the look in his eyes had finally calmed down. “… yeah.”

“… …”

Allen fell silent for a long while before he slowly clenched his fists. He continued: “… She died because of me and I really don’t know how to face her after that. I had also changed tremendously, to the point that I can say I’m not the same person she knew.”

“My entire life, both this life and the other, I’ve made countless sins; murder, arson, kidnapping, perjury, pilfering, destruction, stealing, terrorism, and still many unforgivable crimes.”

“… …”

“I’m just a fallen person that bears the burden of his infamy as the world most wanted criminal. What kind of face do you think am I supposed to put on in front of her now…?”

“… up until now, I really never thought about it nor did I regret it. In the first place, I never expected to return and have the chance to change her destiny. However, thinking about it now, I feel ashamed. She always wanted me to be a good man. A kind person that will protect anyone and anything regardless… a brother that she could be proud of and could show off to anyone.”

“Allen, that’s not…”

“But Mia, tell me. Did I walk a righteous path that could make my sister proud? That she could boast about me to anyone and say, ‘See, that’s my brother! He’s cool, kind and will protect everyone like Superman!’” Allen was murmuring as though talking to himself.

“Yeah!” Mia answered without hesitation. Her voice radiated a firm will and confidence.

“You are the famous hero, the [ Beast King ]. You protected humanity with all you’ve got and saved many people…”

“Was it really like that?” But Allen denied her words. With an indifferent voice, he continued, “… One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness; surely you have heard of that…”

“… …”

“… besides, Mia aren’t you worrying the same thing?”

“?!”

“Didn’t you order Aileen to look after me… not for my protection but because you’re worried, no, you fear about something?”

“You knew?!” Mia’s voice trembled, and judging from her tone, anyone could imagine how shaken she currently was.

“If you just think about it a little, it would really be obvious.” Allen’s voice held not blame, no contempt, nor no hate. It was all indifference.

“Allen, you misunderstand-!” Mia tried to explain hastily for fearing that Allen misunderstands that she was having impure motives.

“You don’t need to worry about it Mia, I know you don’t mean any harm. Not like I cared about it anyway, that’s right it’s like a feeling as if a wife was investigating her husband about his adultery…”

“… That’s quite an analogy you have there… though, I can’t say I dislike it…”

Hehe, Allen chuckled care freely. He tried smoothing the atmosphere since Mia might misunderstand his thoughts.

He was really not blaming her or anything…

- Though, truthfully at first, he was thinking that Mia’s intention for it was to watch out for Allen’s relationship while she was away, to avoid any apricots hanging on the wall. But, as time passed by, Allen became aware of something inside of him as well as the expression, Aileen, and the others show sometimes.

“…what I want to say is that you did it knowing about my ‘past’. Truthfully, I wasn’t regretting it, not the least bit. My bloody path, I had already accepted it long ago and already made my decision to continue treading it no matter what happens. That is me, and that will never change. There’s no use denying it…”

“… …”

“No matter how it is, I'll bear the burdens I've earned.” That is why, for someone like me who has strayed from the path, has no right to make up with her…!

But that is fine.

“…for the sake of achieving my goal, I decided that I won’t just become the Beast King…but a [ Beast Emperor ] that would trample anything in its path!”

Your future…

My sister’s future…

Our future…

This world's future…

“I’ll surpass my former self and change destiny for the better.”

“Allen…”

“But even so, it’s not something I could show to her.”

“…A part of me still wished to be the same good, gentle, and obedient boy to her. A brother that will make her proud and show her a kind smile without any malice. A person not tainted by blood and evil…”

“Then show her…” Mia said honestly and without any hesitation. This is really what she thinks. “This is not the same world from what you remember. In here, you didn’t do anything that made anyone condemn you and chase you for your sins. You can be a real Hero here, and I will certainly help you to achieve that…”

It was a fine proposal as if expressing her love to him. However, Allen shook his head.

Because that is already impossible.

Before he joined the [ Dawn Alliance ] he had already committed many sins that he couldn’t atone.

Since then, even if he washed off the dirt by becoming a hero, it would still leave some stain that would never come off.

His fate is already removed from blood relatives and love... It seems that… he’s a person that’s bound to have a bitter life as the bane of others’ existence.

Allen saw his own indifferent face reflected in the communicator’s screen. In the previous world, he also have kind of face even after killing someone, he never felt guilt or conflict.

He whispered in an inaudible voice: “This murderer… can I still face her while bearing those sins…?”
