Chapter 591: [ Sand Castle ]
Woosh. Wooosh.
The sound of the waves in their current vicinity could be heard, along with the cries of the seagulls hovering around the surface of the sea.
The scenery was so perfect that it looks like a scene out of fairy tale or cut out from a masterpiece of a grandmaster artist. However, Allen couldn’t savor this beauty as his mind was still troubled by Hel’s words. What did she mean by that? He asked. But since Hel cut it out there, it would be bad to just continue it one-sidedly.
Besides, it didn’t seem to be important anyway.
He died but he was still alive… isn’t that more important than how or how many times he had died?
Wouldn’t knowing such gloomy fact would just make his heart heavy and the mood between them weird?
This is the long-awaited reunion… how could I think of little unimportant things right now?
Allen reprimanded himself.
… … silence.
Allen remained silent just like Hel beside him. He turned his attention towards the beautiful sea, savoring the moment they shared.
The echoes of the wind and the sound of the tides added to the beauty of the scene.
The two of them were hesitant to disturb this serenity. Their hands subconsciously found each other. They didn’t say anything and just felt that time should have stopped at this moment, but unfortunately, the reality is not fantasy.
The cold speck that fell on his nose surprised Allen. Snow? He thought as he raised his head and look at the sky.
The pure white snowflakes were falling silently, painting the sky and the scenery snow white.
It melted the instant it touched his fingers before he could feel its chill.
It was snowing.
It was cold but beautiful… is this reminding him that even if reality was cold and hopeless it was still beautiful—a blessing of life.
“How’s life…?” Hel’s voice appeared as she leaned closer than before, nestling her head on Allen’s bosom. Her voice was natural as if it was her right to do so.
Allen accepted her and hugged her back as if trying to wish away the cold from the winter land.
“…It’s been fun, it’s interesting.” Allen replied with a faint smile. “Though, many problems occurring here and there—demons, Vergil, the other God Clans, Monster Kings… and the end of the world…”
“… …”
Allen paused for a moment, then he stared into her eyes, “… Did you know of it?”
“Will you believe me, if I say I don’t?” Hel raised her head and stared at Allen. Allen smiled and responded without hesitation; “I will,” even if you lie to me, I would never doubt you. Allen would never doubt her.
Hel giggled and love appeared on her eyes. She looks at Allen, rubbing her thumb at his cheeks gently. “… I had…” she answered. “I’ve always known of it…” At this, her voice turned soft, solemn... with a hint of bitterness. Allen was looking at the sea, the beautiful horizon that he didn't notice the sorrow that flashed momentarily in Hel's eyes.
“… …” Allen wasn’t surprised. “Was this the first time, the first loop?”
Hel smiled bitterly. “Of course not, the world had been reset several times already. The True God had tried everything but always fail each time—now, he was trying to start a big plan, a plan that he had started since the last loop begun. He wanted to break the loop this time…”
“Why do you know of this?” Allen asked, curious.
“…Unlike the others, Death will always remain the same.” Hel muttered bitterly. “Still, unchanging. Death will always be in the end and would be the start—no matter how much time loops, Death will still remain the same…”
“You saying, you had seen everything…?”
Hel shook her head. “No, I remember everything—”
“Death is always the ending, you know—what left in death was memories, that was how people still live on even if they are dead—the real meaning of immortality. And as the embodiment of Death, all those past lives that I had before I died, all went in the next, to the next, and to the next—never-ending cycle.” Hel muttered indifferently but Allen can hear the sorrow and pain hidden within her words.
“… …”
“However, each life has some difference. It’s how the One True God, tried to change everything, resulting in some differences in each loop. And this always causes everything to be unpredictable, disrupting everything including the wheels of Fate and Destiny. Just like now, even I can’t predict everything anymore…”
“… well, wasn’t that good? Unpredictable means there’s still a chance to stop it…” Allen smiled wryly.
“My, aren’t you quite an optimist?” Hel grinned happily.
“Haven’t you know that before? As long as there’s a will, there’s a way…” Allen smiled confidently. “However, does that idiot Vergil know about it?”
“I think he did, Mammon as well. Vergil wouldn’t care about it but Mammon thinks that Lucifer would have the power to change the outcome.”
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
“Does he?”
“… …” Hel raised her head and stared at Allen, a helpless smile on her lips.
“Just asking~”
“… Who knows, whether he can or not was not really that important. Because, even if that good-for-nothing father can do it, the world would surely undergo another set of terrible future…” Hel sigh, “A future that I don’t want to see…”
“You had a point…” Allen smiled wryly. “Well, either way, did you call for me here…?” He said faintly as it disrupted Hel’s thoughts.
“… …?” Hel stared at Allen, confused. “No, you’re the one who pulled me here…”
“Eh?” Allen was surprised and he looks at Hel, confused.
Hel, with a wry smile, shook her head with a helpless expression “Silly, you had just brushed past with Death, you know.”
“Oh?! So that’s what you meant when I died? Did I die?!”
“Almost, stupid. You overtaxed yourself, especially your soul. It’s almost breaking, you idiot husband!” Hell replied in an equally strong manner. “Even immortals, when their souls died, they would disappear…!” her voice laded with blame and anger.
“Sorry,” Allen smiled wryly as he awkwardly scratched the back of his hair.
“Your Soul Core is still young, and yet you forced it to work past its limits. Fighting for almost five years in an instant, it's much more dangerous than you ever think. Although it resulted in a good result this time since you advanced leap and bounds in this event but if I’m not here, if not for that strong soul of yours, it would break you know…” Hel sighs. “In fact, if it was other Gods with weaker destiny than yours, they would have died, or at least fall into coma…”
“But… I’m still happy because I got to see you…” Allen grinned. This was what is important, as long as he can see her, who cares if he died a thousand times… isn’t that worth it?
This sentence followed after countless snowflakes had fallen.
“… husband…” Hel was surprised then her expression softened and her lips turned into a beautiful smile.
Indeed, this is wonderful. It had been a while since she met Allen.
Speaking of which, she wanted to see Allen.
Very much.
She wanted Allen to pat her head. To hug her, to embrace her, tightly and feel his warmth.
She remembered that she wished for Allen’s compliments.
That was why this was a strange reunion. But a very wonderful memory for both of them.
Slowly, she leaned up, keeping her body close to his. There was still a noticeable difference in height between the two, so she looked up into Allen’s eyes. "Well, now that you mention it," she purred, "I think 'something else' sounds like more fun." She scooted over, almost pasting herself on him and gently touched her lips to his.
Allen responded in kind, one of his arms coming around the back of Hel and holding her close to his body as he slowly lay on the flat surface of the large rock. Through their close proximity, Hel could feel Allen’s hardness pressing up against her, and her mind reeled with the possibilities even as her lips and tongues battled for dominance in their passionate kiss.
Allen broke away from the kiss and gave a grin. "Although I like ‘that’ but that’s not what I meant, though," he said huskily. Trying to restrained the rebellious passion surging with him.
"Mmm, but that’s not so bad," she replied sensually. Breaking her kiss, she leaned her head against his chest once again. This time, Allen’s hands didn’t move mischievously and just embraced her back.
Then, after a moment of silence, Hel’s breathing rhythm sounded in Allen’s ear. “Hm?” Allen slightly turned his head but he found that Hel had already closed her eyes while her chest that was rested on his side body was undulating like a cat that fell asleep.
He was surprised and then he could not help softly chuckling.
"I see... She was tired." She must also have something on her side…
With each exhale, Allen could feel his own heart reacted to it as the beats increased in strain.
In this place, it was just Allen and her. Really…
What a good dream…
Allen paid careful attention to not wake up Hel. Then a thought hit. Let me adjust a bit to have you sleep more comfortably. Allen gently lifted up Hel’s head, he raised his upper body so that he was in a sitting position and then placed her head on his lap. After which, he observed Hel face in detail. A smile bloomed on her sleeping face.
The smile was beautiful.
Except for a bright jewel hanging at the corner of her eye. Silently, it rolled down and mixed in with the sand.
Among the waves and tides of the gentle sea, it was negligible and minuscule. How happy she was at this very moment, so happy she wanted time to stop and be with this memory forever. Never separate from each other, forever be with him—oh how wonderful should that be…
Allen gently caressed her head and brushed his hand through her hair while lightly touching her face with his other hand.
Allen was smiling with a gentle expression in his eyes and gave off such a warm and soft aura.
The more closely he got to look at her face, the more beauty he saw in her.
Eyes, nose, eyebrows, forehead, chin, and lips. There was no way to total up her features.
While wondering how dreadfully beautiful something was, a new attraction came into play whenever he took a look. And no matter how long he stared at her face, he could not get tired from the sight. With each and every sight to admire, he had no choice but to look!
He felt as if he can watch her forever without ever getting tired.
As always so beautiful—but why does the world prevent me to have you…?
He leaned in so close that he can feel each of her breath—
*** ***
Allen was unconscious for an entire three days before he finally woke up.
The main reason why he fainted for so long, wasn’t because of too much overdrafting of strength but was because the mental exhaustion was overly enormous. After all, with his current abilities, speeding the time and fighting for several years without stopping using his Domain, was too far-fetched. He had just made it possible using his overlapping abilities; [ Lifeless Physique ], [ Flawless Restoration ] and the Domain’s Rule and an endless supply of power.
Even still, he had really overdone it this time—
Warm.
With his dizzy consciousness, Allen felt a warmth-like from being embraced.
What’s going on…?
Hm…?
The lingering sensation in Allen’s palm made him smile. Ah, I see…
It's okay.
He could still feel the warmth and sweet smell of jasmine coming from her.
It's okay. When Allen opened his eyes, his hand was clenched as if he were holding on to something.
Allen knew his memories were crumbling like the sand. Lying on the hard stone bed with tears on his cheeks, his memories of his dream were fading. Allen clenched his hand and wiped away his tears, attempting to wipe away the guilt and loneliness he felt in his dreams.
… What is…?
Like a castle made out of the sand, it crumbled and swept away by the breeze. Allen reached his hand out in a desperate attempt to protect them. With the intent to at least grab something.
Why!? But his fingers simply passed through the sand.
Tears fell from his eyes—and for some reason, he felt as if he went through some incredible place.
Serene, lonely, gentle, and translucent place.
He sensed that he had an important conversation he wanted to take with him.
But unfortunately, he couldn’t and now he slowly forgetting it… what was it?
Something so precious…
He could still feel something in his hand. Probably, the sensation of fabric, or the warmth from the skin. It faded away with the bits of gentleness he felt. Allen willed with all his might to stop memories of his dream from vaporizing, but he knew it was in vain.
The chime of the sand faded off into the distant.
But he brought one crucial thing back with her.
He successfully brought the most important thing back with him—
When Allen’s consciousness cleared, he couldn’t only feel warmth, but also a softness on his body, along with a sweet fragrance. That sensation was just so pleased that he wanted to feel the warmth some more, so he unconsciously reached out his hand to envelop it.
“Kyaa”
An adorable scream rose up and an elastic and soft sensation attacked his palm.
————eh…?!
“Mmh?” Allen frowned and opened his eyes out of curiosity when the first thing he saw was amber eyes. Flushed cheeks and soft pink lips—–wait a minute.
Why was Liu Muxiao sleeping right next to him?
And judging by the soft and warm sensation, she was clinging to him….
What was going on?
Is this still a dream…?
