Chapter 688: [Layla's Chance]

Chapter 688: [Layla's Chance]

“Well, I guess that’s because I want to stay pure and honest little brother in front of my precious big sister,” Allen muttered after a long while.

“He he he,” Layla rolled her eyes. “Pure and honest, yeah… that would be good if not for your constant headache-inducing stunts and life-threatening decisions that worries me to death every time. Really, can you not even consider how we feel sometimes…? You are really selfish, you know…”

“I’m sorry,” Allen honestly apologized.

“That’s what you will always say…and whenever you are with the other girls, you always seem to forget me, 'your' supposed to be precious big sister,” Layla banteringly grumbled.

She also didn’t understand her current mentality.

Was it normal or abnormal, she didn’t dare to think much about it.

“Sis, you are eating the vinegar of even your sisters-in-law.” Allen chuckled in amusement.

“Jealous? Who asked you to forget your sister just because you have numerous women on your side?” Layla purse up to her lips and said. She placed down the woolen jacket she was doing and glared at Allen, her gaze though was full of bitterness and slightly jealousy.

“Who said I forget you, even after you get married and have children, you will still be my precious sister,” Allen said with a smile half-heartedly, already knowing her response. And as expected, “Hmph! In your dreams! You’re going to carry me until my back is crooked and my hair white!” she snorted with a mischievous grin.

“Called it…” Allen muttered, revealing a slight smile on his face.

“What? Don’t tell me you don’t want to…?” Layla asked as she stood up and walked towards the Chaise longue where Allen was lying. She stood before him, she stretched her hand grabbed Allen’s glass and pour it into her throat in one go as if wanting to find some source of relief or confidence.

Allen looks at her affectionately, “Is that even needed an answer from me…? Then, here’s my answer… No!”

“… …” Layla was startled by Allen’s decisive response, in which the very first time she had heard from him.

After all, their blood relationship was always on his mind, and so he often replied in vague words as if he was avoiding it. Though she had not minded it even though it slightly hurts her… but, was the liquors taking effect now…? Layla’s lips curled upwards. A glint of mischief appeared in her eyes.

Allen chuckled as he leaned the back of his head on the sofa, his gaze turned upwards, looking directly at his elder sister. “Well, I already understand how much you have sacrificed for me, sis…all this time and understand that it’s not something I would not be able to repay…even to the point of chasing me till here. Just like you said, over half of your life was given to me like I was the center of your life…I’m already old now, of course, I know how heavy that is. Dropping you of the trip now is already too late don’t you think…?” he finished with that captivating smile almost similar to that of a child, pure and honest...never-changing even with the passing of time and test of tribulations.

“And what do you mean by that…?” Layla’s grin was turning even wider and her eyes sparkling in excitement as it poured out of her like sunshine through fine white linen; she glowed from the inside out. The smile that cracked her face hadn't been seen for a long time.

“Of course, protecting you and taking care of you… I wouldn’t push you away to some other people anymore. If you want to stay, stay… we will always be together,” Allen smiled affectionately. However, Layla couldn’t see anything resembling that of the feelings and emotions he was giving to Mia and the others, so of course, he meant something completely different from what she had expected. No, it should have already expected this uninteresting response that she didn't want.

“… …” This bastard…! Should she say he’s incredibly smart then he is the smartest man she had known in her life. If she says he is an idiot, then he is also the most stupid man she knows in her lifetime!

This bastard brother of mine…! Layla gritted her teeth in annoyance. Layla bit her lips and before she knew it, she had done something she had never expected she would do—though she thought about it every time, but she really has no guts to do it.

But now—

As if under a spell, her gaze was drawn to his lips, parted and full, and the sound of his shallow breathing filled her with a fierce longing. “You bastard brother,” she whispered, no power over the pull she was suddenly feeling. In slow motion, under Allen’s shock expression, Layla bent toward him, closing her eyes to caress his mouth with her own.

A weak gasp escaped him as Allen stiffened, but she couldn’t relent. The taste of his lips was far more than she bargained for, and she drew him close with a raspy groan. With a fierce hold, she cupped the back of his neck and kissed him deeply, gently, possessive in her touch.

Her fingers twined in his hair, desperate to explore.

Allen was still trembling to cause his lips to be firmly shut. When the two lips touched, Layla first sneaked her fragrant tongue into Allen’s mouth and feverishly sucked and teased him. Allen felt the attack, began to gasp, and whether it was done reflexively, subconsciously or due to the alcohol and sudden shock influencing his mind, he started to respond without him realizing.

When Layla was kissing Allen’s lips, Allen was still a bit nervous and felt awkward; his tongue didn’t agree to come out from his pearly white teeth. After Layla explored her tongue forward provoking his lips twice, Allen suddenly extended his lilac long tongue and intertwined it with Layla’s tongue, at the same time he held Layla’s waist with his two hands. kissing her a passionate one that could only be given to that of a lover. And then all at once, beyond her comprehension, his body melded to hers with an answering groan, and she was shocked when his mouth rivaled her with equal demand.

Layla didn’t give him a tempest-like kiss, but rather gave him a lingering and delicate kiss, a little sample which prevented Allen’s nimble small tongue from returning. Due to this, desire licked through Allen, searing his body and then his conscience. With a heated shudder, he gripped her arms and pushed her back, his breathing ragged as he held her at bay.

“E, elder sister… We can’t do this,” he whispered, all while biting his lips. His eyes though we’re already glassy and one can see the emotions fighting over on his eyes, like devils and angels waging war. Intense and full of ferocity.

He dropped his hold and exhaled, gouging shaky fingers through disheveled hair. His gaze returned, capturing hers and riddled with regret.

“Believe me, Elder Sister, as much as I want to, I’ve learned the hard way to take things slow. I should have never started this,” Recalling his early teasing and confession-like words, Allen felt a bit regret and condemnation; “…I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?”

—Forgive him? Layla stared at him through glazed eyes, her pulse still pumping in her veins at a ridiculous rate.

She never wanted this, couldn’t stand the sight of him because she was scared of losing control, and now here she was, tingling from his touch and desperate for more.

Addicted to the “King of Misery.”

The man that had always been the cause of not only her headaches but also...heartaches.

The very thought inflamed both fury and desire at the same time, muddling her mind.

Dear Lord, she was torn between welding her lips to his or slapping him silly. With a tight press of her mouth, she opted for the second and smacked him clean across the face. A clear smack rang out in the entire quiet room, startling Allen, his eyes widened awake.

“Ah!” A startled voice, clearly not from the both of them rang out—then, almost simultaneously, the sibling’s heads turned towards the source. There, revealed in the tiniest gap of the door, were several faces: Mia, Asmodeus, Alkrasha, Liu Muxiao, Romeia and lastly, Laura, from top to bottom, staring with wide eyes to the sudden melodramatic sequence of events that can only be seen in tear-jerking Korea Novelas.

“I’m sorry, please go on,” Mia let out a fake laugh as all faces started to withdraw, closing the gap of the door. Allen and Layla sat there, with Layla straddling on Allen’s lap, with both legs on each side of his waist, extremely close that Layla’s abundant chest was basically leaning against Allen’s, both their faces stiffened. Then, before they could snap out of daze;

“I know Sister Layla would not be able to control herself these days… husband is going to a dangerous place alone once again, after all. Her danger sense is kicking in,”

Voices could be heard fluttering behind the closed door.

“I won… ten bucks—”

“But is this okay?”

“What are you worrying about? If you are considering about ethics, then it’s all good. The husband is basically a living god! Blood kin was already detached from him long ago… and besides, which God in whichever mythology have you ever thought to be ethical? They were birthing children with their siblings or parents left and right as if it was normal, you know…aren’t then this completely normal?”

“That’s right, this is normal…it’s nothing new. In fact, I had even wondered to myself, why wait till now…? What was the problem or something like that…it’s basically obvious that they are going together, what are they waiting for or something. One should not forget, all said and done, Master is not human anymore but God or even probably a Demon...”

“Sister Asmodeus, I know it’s normal for you but no matter how much common sense we had lost, we are still basically in the mortal grey area—ethics and morals are what’s stopping us—haven’t you heard what husband just said…? Of course, I’m not against them or anything—in fact, I would be happy. After all, Sister Layla is obviously madly in love with husband but because of humanly ethics, it’s stopping her from doing anything reckless—and she really looks pitiful because of it,”

“Well, there’s also that… but…don’t forget my ‘Piercing Thorn’ okay— that sword is now mine. They get together within a week so I won. Anyway, I was actually thinking of making a go-between them or anything if push comes to shove—of course, I wasn’t planning on doing it because of cheating from our bets, okay…? I’m fair. I was really thinking about their own happiness. Allen would once again embark on a not safe journey and we don't know when would he be able to return. Things are getting heated now, who knows when would we even have another chance of peace like this. Sister Layla might always say that she is fine with her status now like Xue Ling, but it’s just because both of them are just too scared to move a step forward. But now, I can finally rest assured—all that left is Xue Ling’s romance,”

“You really shouldn’t do that with Ling’er, Muxiao or else that girl would get angry you know. She’s really scary when she’s angry, you know. Just let the natural course take their time. Unlike Sister Layla’s case, Ling’er knows that Allen loved her and Allen as well know that Ling’er is crazy for him. They can get together any time they wanted… so let them be for now—besides, it was fun watching them like that, like children having their first loves for the very first time, it’s fun teasing them…especially Ling’er,”

“That’s right—with this I can finally give Mamma Aemie good news,”

“Wait, Mia, what do you mean by that…?”

“Hm? Well, you see… Mamma Aemie had already predicted this outcome before and in fact, she didn’t mind, or probably should I say, helpless. Who didn’t know about Sister Layla’s unhealthy obsession with her brother, even Garth was feeling creepy about it. Everyone unanimously agreed that it’s just a sooner or later matter,”

“Wait, Garth?!”

“Ah, right but don’t tell Sister Layla about this okay, or else Garth’s future would be unknown. Anyway, although Mamma Aemie felt it a bit strange and awkward about this, she could only accept and give her a blessing.”

“You’re not pulling something like—they are actually step-sibling or something out of the blue, right?”

“Of course not!”

“But what can Mamma Aemie do, Sister Layla’s life is basically attached to Allen’s like being welded into it. She’s already a hopeless case bro-con, ever since the beginning of this story. I bet, in her room, she has many portraits and pictures of him placed and taped together, most are stolen... by the way, I’m really certain of that.”

“No, no, I don’t think so… you should really not accuse someone with something you had done before…!”

“What are you saying about? I can see her in her eyes! You know, something like it takes one to know one…”

“Obviously not! And please don’t say it like that, it’s as if you’re admitting it openly by saying that. You actually didn’t stop doing something like that…do you?”

“Its memories, you know… memories. Of course, I cannot stop it…!”

“What a very wonderful confession…now, congratulations on winning the creepiest stalker wife golden award for the year,”

“Aw, shucks! Thanks for the compliment,”

“I am not complimenting you!!”

“Hey, let’s play Mahjong in the parlor, I don’t think they would be leaving for some time soon. I need to win back my ‘Piercing Thorn’”

“No way, ‘Piercing Thorn’ is mine, already! Cannot take it!”

“This time, I would be betting my ‘Necklace of Avarice’…still not going to play?”

“Hah! Do you think I can be easily provoked? Fine, let’s do it! Thank you for the necklace, I will surely treasure it!”

“You wish!”

“Hey, hey, you do know that all of you are talking in this floor, where everything would be heard with those two’s sensitive ears, right? Are you deliberately intentional?”

“What do you mean, Sister Alkrasha? That is not possible… after all; they are busy frolicking each other… I know how focused husband can be when he was serious …they wouldn’t care about us,”

“That’s right! Husband’s level of focus is incredibly amazing when doing the deed, I can vouch for that,”

“From experience, huh…”

“What are you sighing for, Romeia? Don’t tell me you are also jumping on this ship?”

“What are you talking about, I do not like that womanizing man at all!”

““““Oh really…(in monotone)””””

“Poor fella, she actually didn’t understand what it means by staying in this Ruinos Castle where husband’s influence encompasses everything. The clock is ticking…”

“Indeed, very, very, very pitiful… just staying within five to ten meters away from him, even Apollo would be smitten…haa, she 'was' a good fighter, too bad she was still too naïve,”

“We will never forget her bravery and courage to stand in front of the Great Demon King—she 'was' a hero…(in monotone)”

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! And please don’t talk as if I am not here!”

“Oh, so you are still here..? Well, too bad, it would only be a matter of time. Even men turn gay from seeing him, much less you…tsk! tsk! tsk!”

"That's too much of an analogy!"

“NO WAY!! He’s not my type at all! What I like is a man that is independent, self-made, well-educated, passionate and most of all…LOYAL!!”

“Oh, the girl didn’t know she was the type that couldn’t understand what she was feeling…”

“…I’m a one-woman-one-man type of woman!!”

“Yeah, right…all of us, until the great devil comes in, knocking and saying, ‘Trick or Treat’? And then, before we know it, we followed the Pied Pier and couldn’t escape from the most wonderful and addicting melody of all times,”

"Wow, never thought you had talents in poetry. That's a good one!"

"Hur hur,"

“…talking to all of you gives me a headache,”

“Condolences,”

“Grrrr!!”
