Kenshin didn’t have the time to check out the rewards as he was hurrying to the gate of the dungeon. The time was near, the break could happen at any moment. He mustn’t let a single monster slip past him.
With his power to monitor the status of the whole dungeon, he could vaguely see what was happening. The protective bubble; that usually surrounds the teleportation point of each floor had vanished without a trace. The monsters didn’t notice it, but it would be a matter of time before they do so.
It took him five seconds to come out of the dungeon. Outside, the military was on high alert, patrolling very seriously. He immediately ran towards the nearest military officer. He was a middle-aged man with an average height of a soldier. He was wearing the common military uniform, holding a specialized gun in his hands.
The soldier noticed Kenshin and came towards him.
“Who are you? Who allowed to come here? This is a prohibited place” the military man shouted. Kenshin didn’t care about it and flashed his golden license at him.
“Officer, this is an emergency. Can you please call director Suguro!” Kenshin ordered.
“I am sorry sir, I didn’t recognize you. And at once sir” the middle-aged man replied. After seeing the license, he realized that this person was a high ranked officer. Although he was very rude just now, it was, after all, a protocol so Kenshin didn’t mind it.
The middle-aged man used his walkie-talkie to contact Suguro. After some time, he handed it Kenshin.
“Sir, its connected!”
“Thank you. Hello, Suguro!?”
“Kenshin! What’s the matter? You used a military communicator, is there an emergency?” Suguro asked. He sounded pretty haggard.
“Listen Suguro, something really bad happening here. The protective bubbles of teleportation gates had vanished. Not only that, the monsters were pouring out as we speak. They have yet to reach the first floor, but I estimate it won’t be long before it happens. In short, less than half an hour, a dungeon break will happen. I can delay it for another twenty minutes, but that was my limit. Dispatch as many hunters as you can and evacuate the civilians from here.”

-Inside Suguro’s Office-
“WHAT!!? Are you telling the truth? Shit!!” Suguro cursed loudly. The thing he was afraid of the most was happening. Putting down the talkie in his hand, he pressed the intercom and summoned all the higher-ups to his room.
A few minutes later, all the officials of DCB Mito stood in a semi-circle pattern around Suguro’s bench. Their faces were pale from hurrying up all the way here from their positions. Some of them even hastily wiping away their sweats.
Seeing them like this, Suguro directly went to the point.
“Everyone, we are now going to face a tragedy that had never happened for past twenty years. This tragedy is probably the worst kind of tragedy a city can face. We are going to face a Dungeon Break in less than thirty minutes.”
Everyone’s face paled after hearing this. Dungeon break was not something should be taken lightly. If it wasn’t controlled properly then thousands of people might die from it. Thousands of monsters would pour out of it, creating damages wherever they go. It was truly befitting of a calamity comparable to natural disasters.
“Sir! Are you telling the truth? Isn’t there something wrong with the message?” one skeptical officer said weakly. Although he was skeptical, he clearly knew director wouldn’t joke around this matter.
“No. The message I received was from a very reliable source. It’s very unlikely that he would tell me a lie like this. That person can delay this for another twenty minutes, though I don’t know how! But I believe him. While he buys us time, I will give all of you a role. You must fulfill it as soon as possible”
“yes, sir” everyone shouted. At this emergency hour, it will be a bad idea to slack off.
“You…you and you..the three of you are in the charge fo contacting all the Hunters available right now. You and you will be contacting the local police, tell them to evacuate all the civilians from around this area. Finally, you three will be with me to keep an eye on the dungeon” Suguro showed his leadership qualities as he distributed the roles to everyone.
“Yes sir!” with a loud shout, everyone hurried to their respective seats. A heavy aura remained around them, but they didn’t slack in their duties.
Suguro and the three he selected ran towards the observing room.
‘Kenshin! Can you really hold off for twenty minutes?’ Suguro questioned in his heart but didn’t show it on the surface.
Within the next ten minutes, the whole Mito was in an uproar. Fear and panic spread around common populace as they found out the situation. Police and military worked together to evacuate as many people as possible from within 10 KM radius around the dungeon. There were some riots caused by people who tried to take advantage of the situation, but they were immediately suppressed by the police.
Though fear was prevalent among the people, they still obeyed the police and evacuated to various temporary shelters.
At the same time, hundreds of hunters were summoned by the DCB to help cope up with the situation. After the briefing, some of the hunters didn’t want to risk their lives so they left. As for the remaining ones, the DCB had promised them some rewards after the tragedy was over.
Even the area around Dungeon, up to 5 KMs were surrounded by the military. Armed men with high-tech guns stood on position, ready to fire at any moment. Tanks and missile launchers were neatly arranged so as to damage as many monsters as possible. All the blind spots had been closed off.
The entire area around the dungeon had become a highly protected fortress.
Everyones’ waiting intently for the monsters to break out.
Standing atop an armored tank, Suguro, wearing a black armor set with teeth like protrusions on his shoulder, held a trident as he waited for the inevitable crisis to come forth. His mind was filled with the words Kenshin spoke to him. He was very worried about his whereabouts.
‘Kenshin, are you okay!?’ he thought as a frown marred his face.
