-Becoming Popular(4): The Conclusion-

“Its finally over!! Mito is safe, for now!!” a hunter said as he sat down on the ground. Although he looked like he would fall down into unconsciousness at any moment, a prideful smile could be still visible on his face. That smile, it shows that the man was feeling very proud of himself for participating in a war to defend his home.

Not only him, but everyone around also feeing the same after they defeated the dragon. Though the larger part of this credit goes to the man who was still standing, looking at them with a smile, they still felt it was in their right to feel happy.

Suguro excused himself from the group and approached Kenshin, who was still standing there, observing their celebratory atmosphere.

“I still remember that day when you broke that measurement stone… haha! Man, that day was quite a day for me.” Suguro said as he approached Kenshin with a smile on his bloodied face. Two of his front-row teeth were missing. Also, his nose was bleeding.

“Here,” Kenshin handed him an HP potion, and replied, “well, it will be 1 year in a month or two… don’t you think that’s a long time for such improvements?”

“Haha, well, if those old-timers hear you saying this, I am pretty sure they will go nuts and probably commit suicide. Hmmm! This… isn’t this a Medium grade HP potion, I am pretty sure this is very expensive.” Suddenly Suguro felt less enthusiasm about drinking the drink handed by Kenshin.

“Just drink it heal yourself. Others might not see it, I can pretty clearly see your physical condition… you are close to breaking down like glass. Just drink it, it will heal you back to your usual health, in just a few hours minimum and a day maximum.” Kenshin then frowned, then continued, “consider this also a payment of sorts. You are going to protect me from the mess that will eventually come my way when my power display becomes public. I am counting on you, director of Mito.”

“So it turned out you wanted to me become your political shield.” Suguro shook his head before laughing out loud. He could understand where Kenshin was coming from. Although he was a strong hunter, he wasn’t an absolute force. If someone at high in political ladder tries to deal with him, Kenshin would be like a sitting duck, waiting to be slaughtered.

“Yeah, just for the time being, until I find myself a permanent solution,” Kenshin said, but his mind was racing at a very fast pace. Thinking of how to deal with varying problems those superpowerful hunters face.

When a hunter surpasses level 150, they were no longer considered humans. They were called tactical weapons, their transcendent strength could send cities to ruins, as such, every country would try to put as many limits on their activities as possible, lest they destroy everything in their path due to any minor inconvenience.

The power he had shown today, no one would believe after this that he was just a mere level 112 hunter. No matter what, the government would surely try to control his actions, putting him in a proverbial leash. Telling this to Yuki would have been better, but he didn’t want to seek her help in this matter, at least not now, when he can use someone else’s help in coping. Using her help would be akin to killing an ant with a sledgehammer, complete waste of valuable resource, and time.

“Alright, don’t worry. From the very day, you joined DCB, a protective layer already erected above you. Now that you have shown such formidable capabilities, it’s time to upgrade that protective layer.” Suguro claimed before laughing after seeing Kenshin’s clueless face.

“What are you talking about?” not understanding his cryptic tone, Kenshin had to ask frankly. No matter how much his wisdom was, he can’t just derive anything from nothing.

“Think about it, you are an employee of DCB. And DCB is a global organization. Its high command is the Elders’ Court, which controls this world behind the scenes. So then think, how could the local government mess with them? They will only be seeking their own end of their political careers. No political leader would want a premature end to his/her career now, would they?” finally, understanding dawned upon Kenshin as he processed through what Suguro was trying to say.

While Kenshin was busy with that, Suguro opened the bottle and took a sniff first. Smells like the highest grade wine~ thinking of this, he observed the miraculous bottle in his hand, whose market cost was unimaginable. He had heard some hunters claiming that even cancer could be treated with this bottle of potion. The market value of this thing was beyond measure… and Kenshin had given him one such bottle. Even Suguro felt a little curious about Kenshin’s source of wealth.

But he knew his limits. He didn’t make much fuss and downed a mouthful first. The effects were instantaneous as soon as the potion reached his abdomen. Suguro felt all his small and medium internal injuries were healing at a rapid pace. Especially his backache that he was feeling for quite a while had also vanished as if it was never there. For the entire duration of healing, he just stood like a statue with his eyes closed.

Seeing his mellow look, Kenshin couldn’t help but shake his head before turning around and gradually submerging into the ground. Now that things had come to this, there was no need to hide his skills, albeit everything except his Exploding Domain and Divine tier skill. One, because he was afraid that woman would recognize it, two, he didn’t want to alert his yet to found enemies who had seen him sending that 4th servant back into the gate.

He wasn’t prepared to fight with such people yet. Megalomaniac people like them were worse to deal with. Thinking about that incident made Kenshin remember Vera, after coming back from North, he had yet to see or hear anything about her. Its as if she had vanished into thin air. Although he felt worried, the problems on his plate weren’t any less for him to have time to think about her.

It took him a few seconds to reach his home. The streets were yet to populated as Suguro and co didn’t yet announce their victory. As such, he wasn’t worried about getting spotted. From his map, he already knew Joy and Chiba with Ena arrived in his home and were now recuperating.

Especially Chiba, who was now feeling the aftereffect of overdrawing and overconsumption of MP potion. After entering the home, he saw she was now out of cold, and it would probably take a few days before she can regain her consciousness. As for Joy, he had a lot of small internal injuries, but he had already undergone his first awakening, so his healing capability was quite monstrous. Even still, he was currently sleeping on the couch, knocked out. Ena was sitting on the floor while cradling her hammer. She seemed to be lost in her thought.

Putting his sword on the sword stand he had built for his swords on the drawing-room, he sat on the ground, beside Ena, who was yet to realize his presence. Maybe it was because he was still using his concealment skill, and thus she didn’t found him yet.
