-The Remnant(2)-
“Kenshin, who is this lady?” Joy asked as he slowly inched backward to stand near Chiba, who couldn’t get up. The arrival of an assassin like that, it wasn’t good news. Amongst them, if there were someone who could be one-shot by someone, then it would be Chiba, so he stepped back to protect her. Besides, Kenshin didn’t need help, or else he would have told so to him.
“I have told you about my beef with that Kawakuchi family, right? She is a member of that family. don’t get involved in this, you just help Chiba to level up.” Kenshin didn’t dare to move his eyes off her, she was fast and skilled at hiding. Of course, she couldn’t hide from him, but it would be a problem if she would go for Chiba or Joy. Besides, like him, Joy, and Chiba to have their families to take care of, he was reluctant to drag them into this mess.
But he wasn’t naïve enough to think those two would remain unscathed and left alone by that family, so to rout those worries, he had to make this woman die in this dungeon. Coincidentally, both Trisha and Kenshin thought of the same thing about each other at that exact moment.
Kenshin’s blade shined as Trisha’s body started to blur out, both started to their battle at the drop of their hat, the instant their assessing of their enemy ended. A crescent-shaped sword arc traveled towards Joy and slashed the wall behind him in two. From within, a blurry figure of a woman jumped out, then using the roof as the pivot, it flashed towards Chiba. Watching this, Joy came around in front to block, but all he felt was a tiny gust of air. On the contrary, Kenshinw, who was running in the opposite direction, blocked a pair of a glowing green dagger with his sword, that was inches apart from his neck.
“Hmm!!” Trisha was surprised to see her target saw through her ploy. Then a vicious knee landed on her stomach, lunging her to the air. A sword stab came towards her heart, courtesy of a closed eyes Kenshin. Grinding her teeth, she became a blurry image once again, appearing on the opposite side of the dungeon, while massaging her stomach which ached badly due to the knee. Taking a few deep breaths, she glared at Kenshin, “How did you know where I was going to appear? Can you see through my deception?”
“I have no obligation to say that to you, do I?” even before he finished saying, a few waves of purple crescent-shaped sword arcs appeared in her field of vision, blocking her front from escaping. She could only move back to escape it. Then he turned to Joy, “she is a small fry, but has an annoying skill; you take Chiba and get out of here. She might make a move on her to get at me…”
“Alright.” Joy agreed instantly, grabbing her, he vanished to the alleyway next to the boss’s room, which was the teleportation point for the next floor.
“Making them escape is no use, Kenshin Muto, I have my partner guard the exit point on the other side. They will be caught eventually.” Trisha’s mocking laughter came from the narrow hallway to the side of the lava pool, where the remains of the golem elite could still be seen after Chiba had a field day with them.
“Is that so…well… it's all right. They are not weak little chicks, after all. You shouldn’t underestimate them.” Kenshin was shaken for a moment before confidence filled him once more. Confidence not in himself, but in his comrades. He believed Joy and Chiba’s strength, he believe that they could brave no matter what difficulties they face, and that confidence became his strength.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
In that instant, a transparent bubble enveloped both him and where Trisha was hiding. He, of course, could see her with his system’s map function, but today, he was using his [Dragon Sense] to accurately pinpoint her location. After his brush in with that kid form Sylph race and the old man, as well as Core, his [Dragon Sense] was evolved to the point of accurately pinpoint any living signature with a shroud of bloodlust around him in a radius of 10 meters. In other words, within 10 meters, no one can hide from his senses.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t achieve the same [Future Visioin] as the Dilong, it seems his evolution of skill took a different path than what he had expected. He wasn’t disappointed, though, as this evolution path was more practical than that future vision, which could only remind him if he was in grave danger.
Trisha was still unaware that she was already within Kenshin’s attack scope; thus, she was fully unprepared when rocks around her and the boots she was wearing, they both started to glow red before a loud explosion filled the hallway with a resounding boom, causing shockwaves to fly far and wide.
“Aaah!!” she screamed in pain, the explosion caused a lot of damage to her, as she was entirely unprepared for it. The smell of charred skin and burnt-off hair filled the air as a human torch appeared on Kenshin’s field of vision. The pale face of the girl was now sported third-degree burns, as she even struggled to breathe… she had unconsciously breathed in some of the flammable air while running away from the explosion.
Coughing violently, as she was about to pull out a red bottle from her pocket, she felt a cold stell blade touching her neck, with its bladed side already nicking her. Stopping her action, she coughed twice more before whizzed out with her hoarse voice, “I thought you only have a flame related skill that could corrode things…how can you use explosion skills as well?”
“I don’t have any obli…huh! A flame related skill that can corrode things?” Kenshin stopped as he tried to remember to whom he had shown that particular ability. ‘Isn’t it that guy who uses poison that I fought with… I have used Destructive Energy Manipulation as flames with him…how did she know about it… don’t tell me…’
Kneeling down, he snatched the bottle from her pocket and forced her to drink it. It was not enough, as he pulled a bottle from his inventory and forced it into her mouth as well. It was only then that she was healed enough to be stable, conjuring some of his Intent Chains, he bound her in a way that she couldn’t move anything other than her facial muscles and organs.
“What’s the meaning of this? You won’t get any info out of me…” she knew what’s coming, hence denied instantly. Kenshin sat in front of her with his legs crossed, staring at her eyes, he opened his mouth, “Is it worth it, to ruin young girls like that? Aren’t you a girl yourself? How can you support such despicable actions?”
Kenshin’s question sounded random, but, to Trisha, it wasn’t. Her eyes widened to the size of dinner plates, momentarily before turning normal. She furrowed her brows, “what are you talking about? I can’t understand.”
“Sigh…you don’t need to understand. From that reply alone, I got everything I need to know. Your shitty family, it didn’t deserve to exist in this world anymore. Initially, I intended to let the government handle this matter, but you guys are a bigger threat than I can imagine…”
“Hahaha! Didn’t deserve to exist? So what if it didn’t deserve to exist? What can a mere hunter at the lower end of the food chain do about it? Kawakuchi family isn’t a run of the mill family, remember this naïve man.” Trisha laughed as she mocked Kenshin. She had infinite belief in her family, although she didn’t know how this man came to know some of the hidden details, she was sure it wasn’t of any big concern. It wasn’t like this man was the first person to detect their hidden side.
Kenshin’s palm flashed purple as a tiny orange bottle appeared with a skull with crossbones symbol on its cap. Grabbing Trisha’s cheeks, he forced her mouth open and broke the bottle’s cap, downing the content into her mouth. Trisha tried to not gulp the content but was forced to do it when Kenshin blocked her nose with his other hand.
“Cough! Cough! What did you make me drink? Hey? Tell me, what is it?” Trisha asked desperately, but all she got was a pair of condescending eyes looking down on her.
