-Vol 5: A New Life-
-Battle of Intents(3)-
Kenshin looked at his opponent and inhaled a large amount of air and exhaled. With the exhaled air, he also expelled all the pride and haughtiness he had accumulated in these recent days. The belief he held that he was now unbeatable under level 100 was shattered ruthlessly today. Although it made him very frustrated, he was also thankful that this happened now instead of a critical juncture. At least today he had this confidence that he won't die. He realized that the road to becoming a truly formidable hunter was still quite long and filled with many detours and problems.
He also learned a valuable lesson; arrogance is the worst enemy of a strong person.
“Here I come!” Kenshin declared and flashed towards his opponent who was glowing with faint red colour and exuding a large amount of bloodlust. He arrived in front of the man with his sword aimed at his eye in the form of a stab. The glowing sword looked no less threatening than a guillotine atop a person’s head. The man was startled for a second at speed Kenshin just displayed; he didn’t have that kind of speed just now. But he had no time to wonder, he immediately bent his body in a weird angle and avoided his sword stroke.
But Kenshin’s sword mastery was very high, he was now at a level where he could easily change the trajectory midswing. So when he saw the man was leaning at a weird angle, he also changed the swords path to that direction of the man.
Seeing this, the man couldn’t help but curse loudly and hardened his body to brace the impact. He knew he could no longer evade, so he could only counter directly. He then raised his left hand high enough to make the bone spur collide with the incoming sword. The blue glowing red sword and the red glowing white bone made contact with each other producing a screeching noise. Sparks flew from the impact which seemed to be quite impossible as out of both things, one made of bone while others was a crystal sword. Seeing that his sword was blocked, Kenshin lifted his left leg and kicked the man in his abdomen, sending him flying a few meters back.
Before the man could stabilize himself, Kenshin came forward with the following kick to his head. Seeing the kick aiming to his head, the man abandoned all reservations and cradled his head with his hands in such a way that the bone spurs from his hands would face two different directions from which the kick might come from. Why both direction! The man knew Kenshin could change his attack’s trajectory midflight, so he had to be extra careful. Seeing the craftiness of his opponent, Kenshin could only curse and pull back the kick.
Seeing that Kenshin was pulling back, the man didn’t miss this heaven-sent chance and punched toward’s his opponent's abdomen. Due to him pulling back his kick, Kenshin was unable to control his body the way he wanted to so he could only grit his teeth and brace for the impact. But thankfully his physical body was a lot of time stronger than his opponent’s making him endure a tremendous amount of force easily. For this reason, when the punch landed on his body, Kenshin only felt a stinging pain for a second, that’s all.

Seeing that his punch was useless against him, the man rolled back and made a little distance between him and his opponent. His excitement was subsided a little, and a frown marred his mace. The opponent he was facing was a bit too powerful for him to handle currently. But even though he realized this, that didn’t mean his excitement died out completely. He was still willing it to fight till death with this opponent of his.
As such he again came forward and engaged with Kenshin. Kenshin handled his sword exceptionally well, allowing him to block all the moves of his opponent. Although the opponent was using a bezier martial art, he was still following a particular pattern. Kenshin had already noticed that pattern, as such he was able to block most of the moves and even sneak in one or two cuts in his opponent's body. As time passed, the man’s body began riddling with cuts and bruises from. Even with his body’s unique feature of healing, it still couldn’t keep up with Kenshin's speed of creating them.
Finally, after engaging for a few minutes constantly, Kenshin saw an opportunity. Holding his sword in align with the ground, he stabbed it forward while enveloping with his Intent. The sword stabbed through the man’s left hand and entered his left shoulder. When he saw the sword was inside his bones, Kenshin transmitted his vibration energy through it.
*Ting*
As the sword vibrated, it made a buzzing sound despite not made of steel. But the man felt worst, his bones all over his left shoulder also vibrated at a very highspeed increasing his injury.
“AAGHHHHHH!!!” he shouted very loudly as the pain assaulted his whole body. Kenshin was, after all, transmitting a kind of lethal energy directly to his skeletons, how could it not be painful? The vibration would shake the entire skeleton system causing a huge amount of internal injuries. The pain was so intense that the man kneeled on the spot, unable to continue any further.
Seeing this Kenshin was also elated. Now he could finish his opponent and be in his way. He realized that the moment banished all his arrogance and pride from his mind, suddenly his mind became very clear, and he was able to perceive his opponents every move. The usage of his Intent also came naturally to him. Not only that, his high intelligence and wisdom allowed him to devise some interesting combinations of how he should use his powers. The combination he used just now was also due to his out of box thinking. No wonder they say, only a genius would be able to think out of the box.
Kenshin decided to finish his opponent and be on his way. He wouldn’t walk on the path of a nieve protagonist who thinks that forgive an enemy would change him and become his ally. No matter how much compassion you show to your enemy, they would always stab you on your back when the chance shows itself. Forgive an enemy would only mean you are cruel to oneself. Kenshin didn’t want to become that kind of protagonist who would lose many things in the future just because he left an enemy alive.
He had already lost many things, he didn’t wish to lose anymore.
After thinking such, he retrieved his sword from the man’s shoulder before channelling a massive amount of Intent into it. The sword began humming like a bunch of bells were chiming together, its that kind of sound. He was ready to behead the man and be done with it. The man was obviously in too much pain to notice Kenshin was about to use a finishing blow.
“Thank You!” Kenshin thanked the man before slashing it towards his neck. With one swift motion, his neck was separated from his body before rolling in the ground. Nonetheless, the man had taught a lesson to him, a very valuable lesson that he would never forget in future.
After thinking for a few seconds, his hands engulfed in flames before it proceeded to burn the body of the man’s into cinders. A few minutes later, the fire burned away everything, not even his ashes remained.
