140. Breaking the second pentagram

-Vol 4: To The North Pole!-

-Destroying The second Pentagram-

Kenshin initially thought to use the chaos to do his work before moving on, but the battle between two powerhouses had mesmerized him to such extent that he just stood there and observed the battle. In reality, this battle was also very beneficial for his future growth. Not only this broaden his horizons but also allowed him to see those beyond level 150 in action.

Fights between such powerhouses were never made public in fear of creating chaos. In fact, very few people know about the fact that there were other intelligent species were living on the earth along with humans.

Kenshin only knew about their existence because of his martial arts master. He had trained him when he decided to drop his school and joined a dojo. He was the creator of that dojo, and he only knew it because he had accidentally seen his master’s true form. As for the rest of the information, it was all given by Vera and Suguro when he was back in Mito.

When one surpasses the level 100, they were no longer counted as mere mortals. And for those who had already reached level 150, in their full force, they could destroy a small town on their own. It was a little wonder why they are forbidden to fight in public. As such, although Kenshin had work to do, he still couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the fight happening in front of him.

But from this, he had confirmed another thing, the organization that Roxe warned him about was real. He didn’t know why they were after dungeon cores, but he was now sure that they weren't something he could take on at his current level of power. Even with his Opposites skill, he could only delay his eventual death. Not a single member of this organization was weak and sooner or later they would come for him. for the first time in his life, Kenshin felt a sense of crisis. Even while facing his death earlier, he didn’t feel like this.

‘I must become stronger!!’ he pledged himself in his heart.

Tearing his eyes from the fight, he jumped down and entered the cave. There he saw the same pentagram that he had seen back on hidden military base, only with a little difference. Generally, no one could detect that difference unless they were an array master, a profession still couldn’t be found on earth. But with his heightened intelligence, although he didn’t understand it, he could still spot minor character differences. But it has nothing to do with him, his current priority was to complete the compulsory mission so that he could avoid a possible catastrophe to the world, and of course, gain the rewards.

Right now, all he needs to do was too great as strong as possible. For that, he had decided to train twice as much as before and of course kill as many monsters as he could. Of course, he followed the same schedule, using his Opposites skill to bypass the barrier and a few punches to destroy the pentagram.

[Ding* 2/7 pentagrams are destroyed. Another five to go.]

A notification appeared, but he ignored it and instead decided to flee as soon as possible, for a large green dot was speeding his way. With nothing left to do, he simply used his Burrow skill and escaped from there without looking back, as fast as possible.

It was proved to be the right decision, because not long after he sued Burrow, the whole cave was exploded like faery fireworks, sending away snow and debris everywhere. After that, a scarlet-skinned man appeared, surrounded by purple mist so intense that it looked like a fire. It started to look frantically at his surrounding until his eyes landed on the pentagram that had a crack going on through all over it.

“Grraaaaaa!!!!! Who did this?” he then shouted to the heavens as the mist surrounding him became even more intense before starting to change colour slowly. The light purple colour began going darker and darker until it turned completely black. His skin tone also darkens to the extent that from scarlet, it changed into a deep shade of red, almost becoming black. The horns on his shoulders elongated a few more inches, and a single horn emerged from his right side of the head. The worst part was his eyes, now it has completely changed into black sclera and a red dot in the middle that acted as his pupil.

With a golden flash, the old man appeared, followed by the middle-aged man with a black streak. They were very surprised when the scarlet man who was on the winning side suddenly abandoned the fight and frantically flew back here. After that, they followed him here, but they were even more surprised after seeing the transformation the man had just undergone. His powers were also seemed to have increased by several folds.

“Old man, do you think that now also you could handle him alone?” the middle-aged man said in a very low voice, afraid that he will alert the insane creature.

“Hmm! I would prefer to use your help this time.” the old man muttered while looking warily at the black mist in front of him.

“Grrrr!! YOU WRETCHED HUMANS!! YOU PLAYED REALLY WELL!!” an angry bellow came from beyond the black mist, then suddenly it parted as the changed creature came in a flash towards the old man with his fingers curled into fists.

Even though the old man coated his body with the golden light, he still couldn’t help but groan painfully when the punch landed on his face. Like a rocket, he flew from the place he was standing earlier. The changed creature followed him with his other fist raised to pummel him.

Now the old man in a vulnerable position. He was still under the effect of that creature’s earlier punch and hence couldn’t guard against the coming one. All he could do was to grit his teeth and wait for the punch to land. But thankfully, the middle-aged man over in time, he appeared above the transformed scarlet man and aimed a kick towards his right ribs. His legs connected and the transformed man was barreled to his left side. At the same time, the middle-aged man somersaulted and landed on the ground.

BOOM!! Boom!!

Two distinctive booms sounded when the old man and the transformed man was thrown to the ground at the same time.

*Cough* *spit* the old man coughed up and spat a mouthful of bloody saliva. Although that blow was not enough to make him cough blood, it still hurt him, making him bleed. Even if that was just a little.

“Grrr!!” the transformed man growled and stood up almost immediately and appeared instantly in front of the middle-aged man to punch him, but with just a little sideline, he completely avoided his attack and even gave him a punch of his own. Unfortunately, his attacks did no damage to the transformed man, on the contrary, he felt like punching an iron pole.

“This thing!! It has become stronger!” he couldn’t help but mutter.

“A cough!! It was temporary, his anger has fueled some kind of forbidden state in his body. Although it was giving him a huge amount of power, it was also causing him serious damage. Can’t you see all those cracks in his skin?” the old man appeared instantly beside the middle-aged man while explaining his hypothesis.

“But it also proved the other fact, these guys seemed to be guarding something here. They are really planning something big.” The frown on middle-aged man’s face couldn’t become any worse.
