38. Rage!

-Rage-

After having a relaxing time with the small but happy family, Kenshin returned to his room. The interaction with the family had helped him build his resolve to do what he was trying to do. He realized that Mito was simply a place on which he couldn’t give up. Despite not wanting to be a typical hero, he knew that if he didn’t do something about this approaching problem, even though he had the capability to do so, he would forever blame himself.

Kenshin doesn’t want to live a life of regret.

With his newfound resolve, he no longer felt lost. Confidence filled his heart as he prepared himself to brave anything that comes his way.

Besides, even Core didn’t know what would happen. Maybe there was a chance that nothing serious will happen! Kenshin knew what he was doing was simply consoling himself but what was wrong in that?

At least it gave him some courage.

He flopped himself on the couch of his drawing room and stared blankly at the main door. He didn’t have a TV as there was no need for it in the past. He rarely took a break, and whenever he did, he spends the whole day sleeping. But now with Tireless Body and Passive Regeneration working together, even feeling fatigue during an intense workout was difficult.

Suddenly he remembered about the scamming attempt and felt the urge to inform his sister. Although he didn’t want to make her worry but a case like this, he felt that she should know about it. After some serious contemplations, he dialed her number.

It connected in an instant.

“Hello, big brother” a sweet voice replied from the other side. She was none other than Kenshin’s little sister, Akari. She was an honor student of Hunters Academy, who had got a scholarship from the government.

“Little sister, How are you?” Kenshin always asked this question first whenever he calls her. To him, nothing was more important than his sister’s future and health. He always wanted his sister to become someone important and successful, not for any personal agenda but because he was her brother.

For the past six years, he had been her mother, father, and her brother. He was playing all this role at the same time so that he could give her all the happiness possible.

Akari, who had seen all this, grown up to be a very mature and understanding girl. She had never fussed over anything and would always satisfied with whatever she got. Though she had become an independent girl, she still had a huge emotional reliance on him.

Before Kenshin’s call, she had returned from her afternoon training. As she was a student at a school that teaches how to fight, it was no wonder that they put heavy emphasis on exercises. Akari was one of the best students in the school, if not the best. She was talented, diligent and hardworking making her popular even among the teachers. Which teacher wouldn’t like a student with all these qualities?

She was the complete opposite of Kenshin, who was fooling around when he was in school.

“I am fine. What about you?” Akari was so happy that she had forgotten her own exhaustion. Her pretty face bloomed into a sweet smile.

Akari had inherited all the good points of their mother, who was very famous for being a beautiful woman. Added to that was the side effect of magic flowing through her body which constantly nourished her cells and skin, she was even more pretty than their mother. Kenshin would always praise her as the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, making her endlessly happy and shy.

“Hahaha…very good! No problems here” Akari was very pleased hearing Kenshin’s laugh. It made her feel at ease, knowing that her brother was fine.

“Have you eaten? Are you taking rest today? Is your health okay?” she fired one question after another in a rapid force.

“Wait! Wait! Little sister, hold your horses. Starting from the beginning, yes, I already had my lunch at Mrs. Yui’s place and yes I am taking a break today. And I am perfectly healthy, no worries. What about you? Answer all your questions to me now”

“I have just returned from my afternoon practices and was about to take a bath. And no, I still haven’t taken my lunch yet. I am also in perfect health” she was very happy when answering her brother. Her violet eyes flickered like stars in a clear night sky. She unconsciously played with her long, luscious black hair.

The siblings started talking about various things and enquired about their daily lives. Amidst this, Kenshin gave her the news of his association with the DCB and his monthly salary. He even told her about his awakened status.

She was so happy that tears came out from her eyes. From the beginning she had complete faith in her big brother, she believed that one day he would soar to the sky. She knew her brother had a skill, although he said it was useless, she was disinclined to think so. After coming here, she had studied many books. From them, she accumulated enough knowledge to deduce that none of the awakened skill was useless. Every skill had a use, even if it was only able to change the color of the skin.

Besides why her brother’s skill was useless because he didn’t know the usage of it. In fact, he didn’t even know its properties.

“Big Brother, Congratulations for your success. Now nobody can say that you have a useless skill” she praised and congratulated him.

After that, they talked on some more trivial topics before finally, Kenshin came to the topic. He explained her about her teacher’s call and how he asked him to send it to his mail address. Though he didn’t mention the struggles he had to go through to collect that money, Akari was a smart girl and understood this unspoken point.

“What!? There was something like this happened? Who was this teacher?” as Kenshin had expected, Akari was so angry that she saw red. After that, Kenshin spent some time to appease her anger but gave her his name and phone number due to her relentless askings. And with that, the call came to an end.

“Okay, Big Brother, I am hanging the phone. I have to go and lodge a complaint against that ba-ahem fraud. Take care okay!” with that Akari hanged her phone.

Her face was covered with her long locks as she quietly placed her phone on the table. Slowly a transparent aura emanated from her as it spread out like a wild flame, scaring her friends. When she lifted her head, her once sparkling eyes were laced with killing intent.

Akari was enraged, so enraged that she was out for someone’s blood.
