-Vol 6: Dusk of An Era-
-Doom Fest(12)-
Sakamoto and Clara, unaware of the deadly trap waiting for them, carefully entered Mrs. Yui’s home. Like the woman before them, their target too directed towards the weak members of the group, Ellie and Axel, on the second floor. They carefully slid open the window and took in one step and at a time. Tiptoeing towards the bedstand, they observed two children sleeping soundly on it.
Sakamoto looked at Clara, as they both nodded to each other. Then Clara slowly extended her hands towards Ellie to grab her. Suddenly the figure of Ellie moved, and before she could understand what happened, her hand was grabbed by the small hands of Ellie and quite tightly at that.
“Hmm?” she looked down astonished to find Ellie was looking at her with her big emotionless eyes. Not only that, but her grabbing was also overwhelming. Even a powerful hunter like she couldn’t help but wince in pain. At that time, a shadow crept upon Sakamoto.
But he wasn’t an assassin for nothing. Feeling movements behind him, he didn’t directly look back but tried to sense it. He indeed felt someone coming towards him, holding a short dagger. Sakamoto’s heart turned cold. With impossible maneuver, he jumped toward the door of the room and slid out. Just at that time, a silver light flashed as a tiny dagger illuminated by the moonlight coming from the window.
“Abort the mission. We are compromised, it’s a trap.” Sakamoto hushed towards Clara. Unfortunately, she too was entangled in a serious problem and couldn’t hear what Sakamoto told her. In the brief moment of Sakamoto avoiding the dagger to his neck and walking close to the door, Clara and Ellie already exchanged more than a hundred moves. Their postures didn’t change, with Ellie still laying and Clara standing beside her bed. Yet they were engaged in a heated battle for their lives.
Seeing this, Sakamoto’s blood ran cold again. He jogged his mind for a way to escape this sure death situation but try as he might nothing came to his head. With no way out, he finally decided to fight with his life on the line. Perhaps that way, he could find a chance to slip away. The dagger retreated to the darkness of the room, and the woman who weald it vanished into thin air as well, completely gone from Sakamoto’s detection.
Shit!! Cursed Sakamoto in his heart and quickly stood up. That girl, Clara, was still busy dealing with the young girl, and now the other girl sleeping next to her had also joined the fight. Currently, Clara was in a disadvantageous position. Her one hand was still in the hold of her opponent while she was fighting with the other three hands of her two assailants with her remaining one hand. On the other hand, due to standing at the edge of the elevated bed, she couldn’t use her legs in fear of losing her balance and allowing her enemy to sneak an attack on her.
Before Sakamoto could even think about joining Clara, a shadow draped over him. There was no need look whose the shadow belongs, as he rolled away, successfully avoiding a deadly stab from the ceiling. Again, the one responsible for it was the same woman who melted into darkness before.

Although he successfully avoided the stab, he was less than prepared for the follow-up kick to his abdomen. Mrs. Yui Zombie was gifted with Greater Conciliation and using this unique skill to its fullest. It has to be known that, these zombies intelligence and wisdom was even higher than Kenshin by a little, as he made them after buffed up by [Create Dunegion] and its 500% stat boost perk upon activation.
Besides Kenshin, who was a living being and had to consciously think about many things, these Zombies had a one-track mind, and that was to complete their master’s wishes no matter the cost. Therefore it was easier for them to come up with better and unique ways to use their given skills. Moreover, there was another reason why these zombies could perform well in battle, it was solely because they weren’t afraid of death.
When a living being fights, at any moment, they had to employ a part of their conscious of making sure none of the attacks of their opponent lands on their fatal points. But zombie didn’t have this shortcoming. They never think about their fatal point, since, other than destroying their brains or their whole body, they will never die. Due to this, they can use 100% effort against their enemies.
Kenshin didn’t know about this advantage yet, and thus, he wasn’t using his newly gained skill points to increase the skill level of [Summon Mininons]. Otherwise, he would have already made an army of these highly intelligent zombies to be his frontline fighters.
Anyway, Sakamoto was yet to be aware of the fact that his opponent was a zombie who wasn’t afraid of any kind of fatal wounds. Therefore he stuck to his usual fighting style of aiming at fatal points with his every strike. The armbands in his hands shined black before transforming into two black gauntlets with a lot of hidden functions.
Suddenly his body shined brightly as Mrs. Yui Zombies’s movements started to slow down in his perception. Not only that, but his own speed also increased by a few percentages. This was one of the Sakamoto’s skills, Speed Contrast. Not only it increases his agility and speed, but it also increases his response time to everything, thus creating an illusion of slowing down the time for him.
Ability wise, [Speed Contarst] was listed as a B grade skill. The only reason it wasn’t listed A or above was because of its limited range and inability to be used on anything other than the user itself. Still, no one could refute its strength, which borderline a Rank A+ skill. Although it wasn’t his only skill, Sakamoto had used this skill to finish nearly all his missions and thus one of the few members with a 90% or above mission success rate.
But soon, Sakamoto realized that the skill which he was so proud of, was completely useless on this opponent of his. Despite his reaction time increasing by several folds, his opponent was still easily countered his attacks and even sneaked a few of her own. This gave Sakamoto a huge headache.

Below, in the drawing-room, Kenshin and Joy were drinking leisurely. Beside them, Chiba was relaxing while playing some game on her phone. Initially, they were all nervous about the assassins and even took many cautious steps to fight them. But after discovering that those three zombies were more than enough to keep those assassins in their place, they lost their vigilance and instead relaxed in the drawing-room.
Although they were drinking, Kenshin was still observing the fight from Axel Zombie and Yui Zombie’s eyes. As they continued to fight on, Kenshin gradually felt astounded at how these zombies fought with the help of just one skill. They were able to manipulate it in ways that even he never thought of, and sometimes he considered himself genius in imagining stuff.
Although it was a little embarrassing to him, he still observed and learned from them.
