-Vol 5: A New Life-
-Monsters in Hordes(2)-
The shout was very loud, managing to reach even the front part of the boat. Kenshin also reacted quickly and jumped atop the boat and hasten for the back. He had no mood to stare at that monstrous old man anymore. For whatever the reason, his appearance was a good sign. At least a case of total annihilation won't happen. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Although he didn’t like to be a hero, he would still not sit silently while many people were dying. He wasn’t that cold-hearted.
After jumping atop the wheelhouse, he finally saw the situation back. There were more than 100 hunters busy fending off a large number of fishes with largemouths. Every now and then these fishes would jump out of the water and into the boat, attacking a hunter with their might. These fishes were big, at least the size of an average shark, their body, was red while their mouth was extremely huge and filled with jagged teeth. A tentacle with a glowing yellow ball was hanging off their forehead. This fish type monster was one of the weakest variety of the sea monsters, with their levels ranging from 20 to 25.
Compared to the gathered hunters, their level was very low. But there were many of them gathered here. They far outnumbered the hunters, and the natural environment of the ocean provided them with extra support. Besides their exceptionally strong bodies and agile movements proved to be extremely difficult to kill even for a strong hunter. Kenshin had already seen how abnormal the sea monster’s stats were, so he wasn’t that surprised at their strength. But these hunters who were facing them for the first time, they couldn't help but let their mouth hang in surprise. A few even nearly fallen prey to these ruthless creatures due to not managing to react on time.
These hunters’ stances were a mess. Their confidence was broken just from the first wave of the monsters. Suddenly Kenshin noticed a few fishes jumping up, targetting the woman with a bow who he saw having the highest level among the hunters. She was currently busy dealing with a few in front of her. Pulling out his sword from his scabbard, he sent a [Earthen Slicer] flying at the three approaching fishes. The transparent arc of blade sailed across the sky and vanished into the horizon, passing through the three fishes. Before long, the three fishes fell back to the ocean with their body separated from the middle. It's only after that the woman noticed them. Sending a grateful glance at him, she continued killing even more fishes.
Her bow glowed green as arrows miraculously formed on it every time she pulled strings. Her aim was so accurate that every time she let loose an arrow, at least a monster would fall. In this short period, she had already finished off more than a 100 of such fishes.
Kenshin, standing atop the wheelhouse, keep an eye at everything happening below. The hunters were in a mess. Their confidence had taken a huge hit after dealing with a few monsters, making them unable to use their 100% battle powers. Although there was not a single casualty yet, it was just a matter of time before someone falls. After that, he searched for Isabella but couldn’t find her among the crowd. Opening the map, he saw her pointer blipping directly below his legs.
‘What is she doing below?’ Kenshin wondered but didn’t go to find out. Thinking that she was in immediate need to go to the bathroom, he diverted his attention to other things. But still, he kept an eye on her. It's not that he was overly cautious, but that killing intent was still nagging him.

Nonetheless, he decided to join the fray. Even a mosquito had some meat in its body, although the EXP would be some spare change in comparison to his huge requirement, it was still useful to close the gap. The old man just now completely aroused his fighting spirit, especially when he had an efficient level upping system. He wanted to surpass that level.
Shaking his head to clear all the useless thoughts, Kenshin selected his target and went for it. There was a huge swarm of fish attacking to the left of the boat, it was already tilting to that side. The hunters to that side were already feeling suppressed, their lives could end at any moment.
Raymond is a Japanese man but with a western name. Its all thanks to his parents, who loved western culture and adopted their lifestyle. Of course, they also forced their hobbies into him, making him act like a westerner from his childhood. From bleaching his hair blonde to wearing contact lenses, he did everything to look like a westerner. When he was only 15, he awakened a skill. It was too sudden, he was scolded by his high school principal due to his bleached hair, and in depression, his skill awakened, giving him the ability to strengthen his muscles and bones indefinitely.
He dropped the school from then on and applied for Hunter’s Academy…but failed to even clear the entrance test thrice. With having no more chances, he could only give up. Later he found a local hunter and paid him a hefty sum to teach him how to fight monsters. His skill proved to be more than capable when he found himself growing in power each day. Within just ten years, he had transformed from a weakling to a hunter whose level surpassed level 50. That skill of his also evolved many times, and he also gained many other skills relating to the first one, making him stronger and stronger. His life was good since then, having a high status from all his school mates back in those days, he could only laugh whenever he remembers their faces in the recent alumni meet. He had even recorded the principal's pale face when he learned about his current status. But he wasn’t a narrow-minded person, so he never seeks vengeance against them.
When he heard about this sea monster subjugation, he immediately applied for it. Not only for the sake of protecting the fishermen, but also for himself. He also wanted to become powerful. With more power, his status would also increase, and he would able to live more happily. But currently, he kind of regretted applying for this mission. He didn’t expect these sea monsters to be this vicious. They were strong too. His device was clearly showing their radiation level to be around 20 to 25, but even so, he had trouble fighting with them. But even though he was having trouble, he didn’t cower. He also had his own pride, to cower in the face of danger wasn’t his style.
His choice of weapon was a pair of punching gloves that cost him quite a fortune to buy. This pair of gloves increases his ATK by 10% and AGI by 20%. It also had an added effect of decreasing his STA consumption while using his skill. With this punching glove, he had laid waste to even monsters ten to twelve levels higher than him. But today, even with these gloves on, he was still finding it hard to preserve his life, let alone getting strong. Just as he was about to retreat, a huge shadow cast upon him. Looking up, he found one of these big-mouthed sharks coming at his head with his huge jaws wide enough to swallow him whole.
Narrowing his eyes, he sidestepped and gave the shark a punch to its side gills, rupturing its brain and killing it instantly. But due to that, he had fallen in the line of attack of another fish who had already a hair's breadth away from his head. in that instant his whole life flashed on his eyes, as he remembered every small detail in fine clarity. Seeing that there was no way to escape, he just raised his fist to smash this fish into the pulp. If he had to die, at least he would take this creature with him.
But suddenly a gust of wind went past his shoulders, as the shark in front of him cleanly bisected horizontally from top to bottom. With its acceleration, the shark parted form middle and went past Reymond, splashing blood into his face and clothes.
“Nice job! You did great. Now leave this side to me, you go and regroup with others…”
