460. A Fearsome Reputation!

-A Fearsome Reputation!-

Kenshin no longer paid any attention to them, thinking of them only as a bunch of hooligans. The group spent the rest of the evening in somewhat harmony, despite the disturbance caused by the Mohawk man. Later that night, Mrs. Yui and the kids were too tired to remain awake so they slept almost instantly after reaching their room. Chiba also joined them since she wanted to conserve her mental energy for the time of raiding the dungeon.

“Those groups didn’t seem ordinary to me. Perhaps they belong to some powerful group of this region…” Joy exclaimed taking a mouthful from his glass. The red liquid burned his throat but still managed to give him a unique feeling as it entered his system. He looked at the glass in surprise, “This is some nice shit! Where did you get these?”

“I bought it from a shop while we were roaming around the town. You were too busy showing off in front of Chiba and the others. This liquor is very famous in these parts of town. Its price was also astronomical.” Kenshin mumbled after taking a sip from his own glass. Due to high PHY, his metabolic rate was through the roof. Normal alcohol couldn’t even make him tipsy at this point.

“What the hell?” Joy blushed in shame. Doing what he did was one thing, but when someone mentioned it, all of a sudden it becomes embarrassing. Coughing to his hand, he tried to regain the composure before changing the topic. “And so, when are we going to the dungeon?”

“Probably after we send away Mrs. Yui and the kids back.” Kenshin looked outside through the window and to the lights illuminating the nightlife of the city. A city, especially a metropolitan city, would look beautiful only at night when the various lights illuminate it. “The city looks so beautiful at night.” He said enjoying the beauty while sipping the expensive sake he bought from the shop.

“Don’t get mesmerized by its outer beauty, my friend.” Joy suddenly acted like a sage, leaning back on the recliner, he too looked outside with a contemplative gaze. “Cities like this hides the worst of the darkness, you know?” Kenshin sweatdropped after hearing to this. Looking at him he found his face all red. He had already gone drunk.

“You should go to sleep too. You are already drunk.” Then he looked at his own glass with surprise, “For this thing to knock out a level 100 hunter… I wonder how they do it?” then he shook his head and smiled before continuing looking outside of the window and enjoying the night view outside.

“Mom, you have to hear this. This tourist came and made a fool out of me, your only son! That too in front of many people.” In a luxurious apartment, the Mohawk guy kneeled on the floor and cried while hugging to the thigh of a middleaged woman. She was tending to a stick with a blue stone embedded in it.

“What is it this time?” The middle-aged lady with sleek black hair looked at the Mohawk guy with annoyance. She was very disappointed with his son of hers. Out of her three children, this was the only one to disappoint her to this extent. She had sent her to the most prestigious university in the whole Japan, yet his actions forced her to pull him out of there. He was hedonist, idiot, and weak. He’s only good at finding troubles both for herself and him.

“It’s a guy from some other province.” The Mohawk guy stood and assumed a pitiful face. He turned his head, showing a dark bruise under his eyes. “Look at this mom. That guy was so heavy-handed! With just a punch he knocked me unconscious.” While showing the bruise, he too winced in pain. It was something he did himself. According to his pals, that man only looked at him in the eye, aside from that, he didn’t even stand from his chair throughout the whole ordeal.

When the Mohawk guy understood that he wasn’t someone whom his petty tricks could work on, he went to his mom while sporting a bruise. After all, he was an idiot and when an idiot like him suffer some setback, they would seek immediate revenge. Even if they have to drag their whole family to the road.

“What?” Despite how much she was disappointed, he was, in the end, her own son. Even though he turned out to be trash of a human being, she would still take his side. Not only he was the youngest of her three, but he was also someone whom she spoiled the worst. She stood up and put aside the wand before inspecting the bruise. As she did so, her worried look turned to frown.

“Aki, do I look like a dumb person to you?” The woman snapped before sending a chilling glare to him. “That bruise, you made it yourself, right?” She didn’t retract her gaze, and instead returned to her seat on the sofa, “Tell me the truth, what happened?”

“Ah… it's like this…” Scared by his mother’s glare, Aki blurted out everything. Of course, he wouldn’t tell the whole truth. Therefore, he tweaked the whole thing, explaining how he was the innocent one while Kenshin was overbearing. At the end of his explanation, he made Kenshin a jerk while he became the kind young man who usually helped old men to cross the road.

“You…” The woman could tell he was lying. But she wasn’t focussed on that part, what she was worried about was the man he angered. If he could make someone of her son’s level faint with just a glance, his strength shouldn’t be any worse than her’s. Moreover, according to Aki, he felt like a huge weight pressing on his consciousness. That could be the effect of skill or WILL. If it’s a skill then that’s one thing, but if its WIL, then it must have reached Intent at the very least.

As far as she was concerned, none of the hunters who had level upped their WIL to that level were simple characters. Frowning again, she looked at her disappointment of a son and said, “You, go to your room and don’t come out until I say otherwise.”

“But, mom…”

“Shut up and go!”

Aki looked down and quietly left to upstairs where his room supposed to be at. Narrowing her eyes, she brought her phone and dialed a number. A few minutes later she dropped the call and looked at her son’s room in anger. It was a good thing she wasn’t as dumb as her son, or else, she would have faced a huge problem.

That supposedly ‘rude and cruel’ assailant of her son was a employee of DCB, and a fairly popular one at that. Moreover, from what she heard from hearsay, his connections run deep in the DCB waters. But that’s not the worse part. It was just a rumor, but people of her circle say that he was the one behind the Kawakuchi family’s downfall.

If such a person was angered, evne if it's her, she would have a hard time protecting both her and her son. That being said, since that person wasn’t heavy-handed with him, it goes to show that things hadn’t proceeded to an unsalvageable situation yet.

Unfortunately for her, she underestimated her son’s idiocy and hedonistic tendency. Although she wanted to avoid problem, due to his actions, it will come knocking on her door eventually.
