-Vol 6: Dusk Of An Era-
-Revenge(1)-
[Ding! Greater Concealment earned 10 EXP]
The moment he entered the mansion, his skill that he obtained just now started to gain experience. It's normal, as he was now concealed amidst many watchful eyes, no wonder his skill would gain exp. Kenshin, though, didn’t bother with it. He strode through the mansion, and his aim wasn’t this common populace.
He would get rid of all the top members of the family, with that kind of resolve he came today. His enemy count was increasing daily, with existences like Core, that kid from sylph race and the mysterious organization after Axel, he couldn’t afford to let this tumor grow. It will gradually transform into cancer if he lets them me.
Although he never looked this way, in reality, he was always searching for a chance to strike this family. Now that the chance had arrived, he couldn’t miss it. He had faith in Joy and Chiba, nothing would happen to them even if he didn’t arrive at all before the monster was slain. After entering the mansion, and with the help of his map, he arrived near a study room whose door was closed. His target was inside, studying some books.
Rummaging through his inventory, he pulled out a square box-like object. It’s an unranked item that cancels out all the noise inside a certain radius. Placing it on the door, he activated it. A red light was lit on the object’s top, indicating that the thing was now active. Nodding his head, he went inside, while opening the door calmly.
“Gustav! Have you brought me tea?” an old man’s voice was heard, which came from the chair in front of Kenshin. The man had his back turned to him, so Kenshin wasn’t able to see his face, the same for the old man as well. Unsheathing his sword, he thrust it without warning, as it went through the man’s neck like a hot knife going through the butter.
“Grlllrrr!!” caught unprepared, the old man gurgled as blood seeped out of the wound on his neck as well as through his mouth. Since his voice box was destroyed, he couldn’t even make any sound other than gurgling and squealing like a pig. Of course, it was loud, but due to the device he had planted on the outside, no one was able to hear him scream. He was still in concealment, although ut wore off when he attacked, it activated instantly since there was no one there to keep an eye on him to prevent him.
“This old man seems powerful! How can you make him like that with just one move?” asked the bone fairy in bewilderment. From her knowledge, even though vital organs are attacked, powerful people don’t fall down that easily.
“Its because we humans’ vital organs are that fatal. Heart, neck, brain… if we receive attack to them directly, no matter how strong we are, we will fall in an instant.” Kenshin said in seriousness. Actually, it was one of the drawbacks that humans have in exchange for their overwhelming growth potential.
“Heh! I see. So that’s the reason. If it’s a member of some other race, they would have at least enough strength to look back… but aren’t you too hasty?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you went and directly killed him. No epic entrance, no dialogues… It seemed kinda bland!!”
“I am not here to entertain you!” Kenshin answered while gritting his teeth. For a second, he thought he had made some mistake, and the fairy was gonna correct him. Shaking his head, he thought, ‘it was my fault for expecting something useful form her anyway.’

[You have killed Lv 174 Kawakuchi Murata. Gained 5,547,454,447 EXP]
[You have leveled up 5 times and become level 112]
With the nice sound came his level-up notification. Feeling like what he did was worth it, as this old man’s death catapulted him all the way to 112. Kenshin patted his back and went to search for the next most powerful member of the family. No matter how powerful a family as if their top members were to be slaughtered by someone overnight. That family was destined to fall.
He soon found his second target, it’s a woman around 32 if he guessed it right. Quite the beautiful, but to Kenshin, she was just a walking corpse. Like before, he unsheathed his sword and ran it through her heart, then he channeled Destructive Energy Manipulation to corrode her insides since he was afraid she won't die with just one shot.
[You have killed Level 170 Kawakuchi Mami. Gained 3,774,124,000 EXP]
[You have gained 2 levels and become level 114]
“Good!” Kenshin nodded in satisfaction.
“aren’t you going too overboard? You just pierced through her heart, is there any need to use a skill to further damage her innards?” the bone fairy couldn’t help but ask, unable to understand Kenshin’s intention.
“I just wanted to avoid some cliché situation where I would get caught just because she had her heart on the other side.”
“No, even if you say so, that’s impossible! Besides, I think her soul won't rest peacefully, you killed her when she was taking dump… how ruthless can you be? I pity your enemies.”
“To me, an enemy is an enemy, even if she takes a dump in the middle of the forest.” Kenshin declared.
“She was taking a dump in this unique room, though!”
“Okay, next target.” Kenshin ignored Tar’el and searched for his next target, which was moving erratically throughout the backyard of the mansion. When he reached there, he saw a young man training rigorously as he performed some martial arts moves in the air. The young man was quite handsome, with black hair, a well-built body that could put a swimmer to shame. Long sideburns which were bleached yellow(Kenshin guessed it).
“Such a hardworking fella.” Tar’el voiced out her appreciation. Unfortunately for her, Kenshin wasn’t on the same page, he flashed his sword, performing a sword drawing move that he had self-learned.
He had learned the art of long swords, so there were no such sword drawing techniques. Besides, a long sword wasn’t made to be used in such a way. It's only because Kenshin had a sword mastery passive that he could apply katana style swordplay into his long sword hence the drawing technique.
The sword flashed from its sheath like lightning and went through the hardworking young man’s neck. Not long after, his head was separated from his body and fell down as blood gushed from the severed neck. The young man’s eyes were wide as he stared into nothingness. Even until his death, he couldn’t understand how he died.
[… gained 947,554,744 EXP]
Kenshin swung the sword in the air, blowing away all the blood on it. What blood stained it, made a thin red line behind him, starting from the sword tip. After that, he sheathed the sword into his scabbard.
“sigh! I should have expected this.” Tar’el could only lament at the bad luck of the hardworking kid, who was slain by his enemy and until the death not knowing the reason for it. Then she looked at cold faced Kenshin and muttered: “I know I said it earlier, but I really pity your enemies.”
“There’s nothing to pity. They would have done far worse to me if I wasn’t strong enough to stop it.” after that, he strode out of the mansion as if it was no one’s business. Tar’el could only gape at him in shock.
“What?”
“No, it's over? Your revenge was over just like that?
“Yeah.”
“Eh! but all you did was kill three people with the highest power levels!”
“They aren’t random people, they are like vital organs of this family. Society, as well as others, will do the rest in burying this family for good.”
“Borrowing other’s knife to kill your enemy… that isn’t nice. It won't count as your revenge if that happens.” Tar’el complained as she felt it's not manly.
“Why not? When you suffer from the disease, won’t you consume medicine to kill the bacteria? That could be count as borrowing other’s strength, and people don’t think that’s unmanly! Stuff like that is just useless and unneeded. That kind of thinking may suit a hero, but I am not a hero… not by a long shot.”
