-Vol 6: Dusk of An Era-
-Revenge(4)-
“Miss? What happened? You look like someone beat you up really good. What happened?” a young maid asked when she saw the woman, with whom Kenshin was just fighting, hastily came inside the room. Her dress was half burnt, and her hair looked disheveled. There was a long slash on her left-hand form where blood was flowing like a stream.
“Trixi, Please come here and help me with finding my equipment. Something seriously bad happened.” The woman explained the situation to her most trusted aide. Back when she went down, she only had her inner leather armor. As such, she was defeated in an instant by her adversary. Taking the time of him engaged with the captain, she had sneaked here to retrieve her equipment, even if she couldn’t defeat him, she can at least run away with the help of her tools.
“Yes, at once, mistress.” Trixi quickly ran inside the room, then into the wardrobe.
BOOM!!
Suddenly the front door exploded into pieces, a man entered swaggeringly, holding a sword in his hand.
“It’s time for you to die, master has commanded me as such.” He said coldly while unsheathing his sword slowly.
“There’s something different with his appearance!” the lady instantly noticed the changes. She had crossed swords with Kenshin, to speak… this Kenshin seems a little off than the one she fought downstairs. If she had to voice it, it’s like seeing a lifeless wax model of a man she talked with previously, despite looking similar, there was a huge difference. Besides, that man below didn’t speak even a single word even though he was fighting with both of them, but this one started speaking rubbish the moment he arrived.
Boom!!
An explosion occurred as the sword in her adversary’s hand started to flicker with angry red flames, looking hot enough to melt even iron. Without warning, he slashed it towards her, sending a wave of hot flames. But he didn’t stop there, his master had informed him that this woman can teleport, then where she would appear next, there was no indication. He couldn’t let his guard down.
A wall of flame formed around him, protecting him from all sides. He was summoned with half of his master’s stats, even then, his magical power is way above 15k, casting multiple fire skills won’t be of any trouble to him.
The woman initially decided to teleport behind her attacker and kick him with everything she got, buying her enough time to go and retrieve her dual daggers, but, as soon as she saw the man covering himself with flame shroud, she abandoned this idea, “it seems he had already found out the perfect way to fight with me… but we only fought for a little while! This doesn’t make sense.”
Seeing the approaching wave of fire, she decisively teleported to the next room.
“Trixi, quick at least bring me my dagger-ahh!!” amidst her speech, she screamed loudly, feeling a red sword sticking out of her chest. The pain was horrible, but she wasn’t a high leveled hunter for nothing. She could suppress that pain for a while.
“T, Trixi! Wh, why?” the woman didn’t even look back as she already knew who was responsible for this sword. She had seen this blood-red sword many times in the past. Often it would be directed towards monsters or people who had offended her. Not once had she expected to see this very sword that used to defend her, would be sticking out of her own chest.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
“Revenge, my lady. It's for revenge.” Trixi said with her ever calm voice. As she slowly turned her head, she saw Trixi was still in her maid outfit and the same cold look that she always wore plastered on her face, only, now her eyes held a crazed gleam in them.
“Revenge? W, what did I do to garner your hatred? Haven’t I treated you good enough?” she was still struggling with her breath, and already forgotten about her adversary. Het attention was solely on this fatal plot twist that happened with her.
“Hmm! this is a rather interesting plot twist!” a calm yet playful voice came as two people entered the room. These two people were no other than Kenshin himself and his zombie. For a brief second, both the maid and the lady’s attention shifted towards them, only for their eyes to widen.
“Twins?” both of them said at the same time, it was the maid who further concluded, “no, according to my reports, you only have a sister. There was no mention fo a twin… then this must be a clone!”
“You have done your homework, it seems, young lady,” Kenshin said as he sat down on the sofa adjacent to the door with the zombie standing to his side. There was a serious look on his face, and what he was thinking, the maid could particularly guess.
“That I have, you are supposed to be my sword in this plan of revenge, after all.” The maid said calmly as if she felt no threat from Kenshin.
Getting curious, he used his system and observed her status.

‘I see, so it’s because of that equipment.’ Kenshin now could understand why she was so fearless even after meeting him. But, he couldn’t take her boasting lying down now, “Hmm, so you wanted to use me all along?”
But the girl shook her head negatively, she then looked at the woman, who was still somehow alive even though a few seconds passed and said, “I never planned to use you. I only wanted to take advantage of the situation while you wreak havoc and do what I am doing now. Although it took a while, I, who had waited for the past five years, can wait more too…”
“y, you… you wanted to kill me all along? Why? What did I do to you?” the lady couldn’t accept this betrayal it seems, she had completely disregarded Kenshin’s existence as her eyes were solely on the cold face of the girl called Trixi.
“Miss, of course, you haven’t done anything to me. My revenge is nothing to do with what you have done to me. It’s my mother. It's her revenge.” The girl said coldly. As soon as she mentioned her mother, a light flashed on the lady’s face as she seemed to have guessed the little girl’s identity. She may have done many bad things throughout her life, there was only a single woman whom she had left alive… judging from Trixi’s age, it might indeed be that woman.
Trixi didn’t care whether she remembered or not, she continued, “You conspired against my mother even though she treated you as her friend. You even sent her to prison for a crime she hadn’t committed, and when she was pregnant… do you know how much pain she had to endure? The jailors were cruel, the inmates were horrible. They would torture my mom seeing that she was a feeble woman. Unable to take the humiliation, she finally committed suicide.”
Trixi took in a brief break, she then clicked her fingers as the bloodred sword in her chest started to spin at a rapid pace.
“AAHhh! It hurts!! Kill me, just kill me… I can't endure this pain.” The lady screamed in pain, as she literally felt her heart tearing into mincemeat. Then she coughed out a mouthful of blood on the ground, mixed with the minced flesh of her insides.
Trixi looked at Kenshin, “My revenge will be over with this woman’s death. It has nothing to do with you, so I plead you, please don’t kill me.” Unexpectedly she pled for her life instead of using her armguard to escape.
“Eh! why are you apologizing to me? Didn’t you have another trick upon your sleeve to escape from such situations? Is there any need for you to plead for my mercy?” Kenshin asked, confused about her discission. He half expected for her to simply run away after killing her target, like how it happens in TV and games.
