“Wow!!” Kenshin shouted loudly. He was only looking to restore his status as a guardian so that he wouldn’t lose those skills. But who would have thought that he would manage to reap such benefits? Forget about the skill, that title effect of invulnerability to all undead monsters 20 levels below his would be very useful to avoid unnecessary troubles in worst cases. And then that option of giving him an extra 10% EXP while raiding any level 10 or higher dungeon in the future. All these sums up to just one word… hefty haul.
Seeing Kenshin was on a daze, the skeleton fairy by the name of Tar’el kept quite. After 15 minutes, when Kenshin still remained in the same state, she lost patience and said: “Are you done?”
“Hmm! Ahh yeah. I was just feeling the change in power in my body, don’t worry. The contract is legit, and as long as you don’t break it from your side, you will be fine. Just wait until my next awakening, and during that time, you can make yourself free from the cage.” Kenshin explained, making it sound so simple. But the fairy knew actually implementing it will be harder.
“I don’t desire for that, I am more interested in that final line where I can send an apparition of myself with you, granting me a type of freedom. Is that true?”
“Yes, of course. When I use the skill called ‘Create Dunggeion,’ you can send an apparition of yourself. Also, you can now leave that cage too, just try it.” Under Kenshin’s urging, the fairy came gave bars of the cave a powerless tug. To her delight, the bar made screeching noise, and then the whole cage started to rust rapidly.
After the cage faded to black dust, the boney fairy looked absentminded as she tested freedom after so many years. With every bit of dust that flowed from the cage, her expression became weirder and weirder.
…
“Hya!!” with a shout, Chiba condensed a handful of water and crystallized them by freezing them before sending them towards a group of boar-like monsters with hardened skin and breathing fire with every snort.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Seeing a bunch of ice crystals flying its way, the boar snorted as a huge fire condensed in front of it, blocking the ice crystals and melting them off within a matter of seconds.
“Ha!” with a loud roar, Joy appeared out of nowhere and gave the creature’s sides a devastating punch. The force was so huge that it sent the huge boar skidding across a few meters from where it stood before.
Suddenly water came out of the ceiling and covered the beast all over before freezing completely. The ice was strong enough to keep the beast immobile. But, it was a fire breathing beats; as soon as it was rendered immobile, it breathed fire from its nose, melting the ice covering its frontal legs and body. Then it raised its hooves and slammed them on the ground sending formless ripples across everywhere. When they traveled across its body, the ice that covered the part also blasted to particles before falling off.
“Dorya!” with a shout, Joy came from the sky and punched the boar in its head, hard enough to make it kneel.
“Can’t you do something about that strange shout of yours, Joy?” standing way back from the boar’s influence, Chiba murmured before raising her hands above her head, two javelins conjured into existence before compressing into the size of two short swords. With a flick of her wrist, she sent them flying while aiming them at the eyes of the creature.
Two icicle javelins streaked across space and accurately penetrated the distracted beast, right in its eyes.
Roar!!!
The beast wailed painfully, sending powerful shockwaves from its mouth. But its pain didn’t end, in fact, it increased when Joy took the chance to deliver a devastating kick at its collar. The kick bent the beast’s neck at a weird angle, and it fell down to the ground before it could even shout in pain.
“Sigh! Finally, we have killed it.” Chiba sat where she stood, taking deep breaths to recover her stamina and mental energy.
“Are you alright?” Ena, who was standing beside Chiba to protect her from any sudden movement from the boar, asked in concern. She was wearing a normal frilly girl’s everyday wear while holding a huge hammer. That hammer was given to her by Kenshin, which was actually a Rank C item with pretty good properties. Above all, it also gave her a skill of buffing her DEF while decreasing her opponent's DEF.
Also, with every drop of blood spills on it, her ATK would increase by 0.1%, which was capped at 40%. It also could increase and decrease in size by sacrificing the user’s stamina. The dress she wore was also nothing to scoff at, as it too was a Rank C set item. It increases her DEF by 20% and also gives a 20% of magical defense.
That’s not all, it also gives her a skill called ‘Block.’ A pretty straight forward name, but the function was a little different. This skill not only increases the blocking probability of the opponent’s attack skill by 50%, but there’s also a 10% chance that it would completely shut down the opponent's skill altogether.
With the hammer and the set equipment she wore, Ena now had 3 skills at her disposal. It was Kenshin’s way of making up to her, as he didn’t manage to give her skill with his [Give] ability since he already lost it the very day he awakened it. Not only that, he even gave Z1 and Z2 equipment and weapons with skills attached to them.
There was another reason why he armed them to teeth. The words of Yuki, about how Leena’s office getting attacked spooked him a little. For a party that didn’t back down from attacking a universal organization like DCB, just how powerful that party would be?
They have already failed once in capturing Axel, how brutal would their next attempt would be? What if they attack Mrs. Yui and Ellie with the intention to kill? Thus he increased security across his house while buffing up his zombies as much as he could. He had made all the preparation. He only prayed to god that they don’t appear until he was back in his house.
“Yes, I am alright. Just a little tired. Sigh… this monster was just too powerful than everything else we fought since coming here.” Chiba said, shaking her head in exhaustion.
“Then you should take those potions master gave you,” Ena said, pointing to the bag attached to her waist. This bag, despite looking so small, held no less than 300 bottles of MP and HP potion, with 150 of each kind.
Chiba shook her head in denial before clenching her fist, “I am trying to increase the natural regenerative powers of my body… of course, that includes both physical and magical energy that I lost during the battle.”
“That’s a nice goal. Work hard then, you can do it.” Ena encouraged her with a smile on her cold face.
“Mmm. I plan to.”
