39. The Dungeon Break(1)

-The Dungeon Break(1)-

Akari was a very popular girl in her academy, not only for her talent but also for her looks and temperament. Her diligence had also won all of the teachers’ hearts. Every day there would be a long line of boys to confess their love for her, though they all got rejected in the end.

Even teachers were no exception.

Overall she had a very good impression on everyone. But that was only the façade that she had made for herself. There were only three people know her real self in this academy. They were her roommates.

They knew that under that calm and kind exterior lied a vicious demon, that would normally won't come out.

When they saw unusually calm Akari standing still while releasing a transparent aura, they knew something bad had happened. They had only seen her like this once; that was when a girl had insulted her brother in front of her. Nobody knew what happened, but she went missing shortly after that. She was not found even after several months of intense searching.

Everyone took it as a simple disappearance case, but how could Akari’s roommates not know what really happened!? That girl was still alive and kicking, but she was far from being okay. Right now she was undergoing treatment in a special mental hospital designed for deranged hunters.

She was, literally, shocked into madness by Akari.

“Akari, are you okay? What happened?” a pretty brunette with short hair and medium height asked, placing a hand on her shoulders. She was one of her closest friends.

Akari jolted awake from her murderous trance by that girl. Coughing lightly, she tried to cover it up with a fake smile, but it was already too late.

“No, nothing!” she tried to assure them with a smile. But the intense anger in her eyes had given her away.

“Just now, that was your brother’s call, right? What did he say? Is he alright?” one of her friends, a long blonde haired girl with orange eyes asked, trying to change the subject.

As expected, the killing intent on her eyes dimmed as a smile bloomed on her face. Seeing this, the other two sighed secretly.

“Yes. It was his call. You know, he had finally awakened a magic skill and is now drafted to DCB in Mito. I always knew he had the ability. I am so happy” she was literally glowing with happiness.

“Congratulations Akari!” her two friends said with a smile. They knew how much she loved her brother; so they can understand why she was so happy with her brother’s accomplishments.

“Thank you!”

“No!! A simple ‘thank you’ won’t do! Let’s go to Ria’s place. You are going to treat us a meal” the blond haired girl demanded while dragging her two friends away.

“Riri!! Wait! Don’t drag me!” Akari and the brunette shouted but didn’t stop the enthusiastic blond-haired girl. While being dragged by her friend, though she was smiling; deep down in her mind, a vicious plan was forming.

From the beginning, Akari had this problem. To her; her brother was like a mountain that shielded her from all problems. She knew what he had sacrificed for her sake, as such how could she tolerate anything bad said or done to her brother!? Anybody doing so was like a direct challenge to her.

Akari didn’t take challenges lightly.

When she heard that her brother, who was day and night playing with his life for her sake, had been tricked by a teacher of their own academy for a gear, whose worth was in millions, how can she tolerate it?

How can she not get justice for him? For the time being; she had decided to report this matter to the principal. If his decisions were not to her satisfaction; she would step in.

One way or another, she was unwilling to leave that teacher lightly.

After making his decision, Kenshin decided to give himself a small break. He was busy, working nonstop for past six years. He felt that he deserved a break.

Since there was nothing else to do; he grabbed his wooden sword laying in a corner and started going through sword moves. Basic, aggressive, defensive, pirouette, the snake one by one he started going through all the moves. As he was absorbed in his training, he slowly realized that he was not sweating, in fact, he was not even tired in the slightest.

All these moves, which would have normally drained him of all energy by now, had become so simple that it was comparable to a relaxing walk in the park. Tireless Body and Passive Regeneration were to blame for this.

Seeing this, he increased his speed and intensity of training. Simple swings became lightning fast moves, slowly the speed increased so much that, it was impossible to see it through the naked eye.

[Ding* Due to intense training and performing a move, again and again, you have learned a new skill]

[You have learned Sword Mastery Lv1(Passive/Always active)]

[Sword Mastery Lv 1(Passive/Always Active)][1988 EXP to next level up]

[By performing an action repeatedly, you had honed it to such a degree that it was imprinted into your very soul. From henceforth, you will be able to freely use any sword as if you are using it all your life.]

[1% Total ATK increment while using a sword]

Kenshin broke out of his frenzy when this notification popped up. By now, he was sweating slightly but nowhere near tired. After reading the explanation, he was astounded for sometime before an understanding light flashed through his eyes.

Of course, he had expected this to happen sooner or later. The RPG rule says that, by repeated action, you can learn a skill that belongs to the action you have performed. This system follows al the rule of an old-school RPG so him learning a skill by repeating was of no surprise to him.

This discovery had made him even more pumped up than before. He knew how beneficial it was for him if he gathers enough passive skill. The best advantage was that they don’t consume any magic or stamina to activate. Sometimes, these passive skills were the deciding factor in a battle.

With a renewed vigor, Kenshin dedicated himself to training even more.

While Kenshin was busy with his training, something incomprehensible was happening inside the Ekla’s Garden dungeon.

Monsters were erratically spawning at a rate that was not recorded ever since the dawn of the new era. Some of the top floors had become inaccessible as the teleportation was not working. The people that DCB had sent to investigate the hidden floor had miraculously gone missing.

At this, the DCB had closed off the dungeon from public access, incurring mass dissatisfaction from other hunters.

They had also discovered erratic magnetic and radiation fluctuations from the place around the dungeon.

What Core had said was coming true. The dungeon was going to crumble releasing all the monsters within.

A calamity was approaching Mito.
