398. Becoming Popular(3)

-Vol 6: Dusk of An Era-

-Becoming Popular(3)-

“Haaa!!” Ena gave a loud battle cry before slamming her hammer into the ice pike that was previously embedded into the eye socket of the dragon. As soon as the hammer touched the pike, it dug deeper before glowing bright orange as a huge explosion followed soon after.

Roar!!!

The dragon roared painfully, as the explosion was fire by nature and fire was like acid to it. It roared and howled before succumbing to its wounds. As it died, like all before it, it dissolved into a puddle of goo that coagulated in the pit, giving an impression of a tar filled pit.

“Look, that group of hunters, they alone killed two dragons… who are they?”

“Since when did our Mito had such formidable characters?”

“Don’t you think that they might be invited by the director to kill these monsters,” another hunter said, remembering Suguro speaking about inviting a level 150+ super hunter. They were in awe at the strength of this group, especially the sword holding man. That time when created those glowing magic hands made of fire, for a second, they felt like they were home, watching some kind of CG movie.

“On the other hand, look at that side, even though that man helped by bringing that dragon down. They still can’t kill it as fast.” One of the spectators who had to retire due to injury commented. Everyone nodded to him, agreeing with his statement.

Despite their judging, the battle continued with Suguro and co, giving their all to kill the now half injured dragon. Having lost its ability to fly, it had lost more than 40% of its ability strength. That crucial advantage it had was now lost. Even then, it was still a creature that could rival a hunter above level 150. How can it be defeated that easily?

Just because Kenshin made it look easy, doesn’t mean it was really that easy. It's just that due to his display of power, as well as Joy and Co’s strength showcase, their strength judgment was impaired. Also, there were a lot among them who were sent away by Suguro since the beginning to lessen injured and prevent useless deaths.

ROAR!!!

The dragon with whom Suguro and the group were dealing with, roared loudly before lunging with its mouth towards the group. At this time, a few people with big metallic shields came forward and blocked it’s open maw while using their respective skills.

“So, are we gonna help the or not?” after finishing their own dragon, Joy, and Chiba, together with Ena came before standing around Kenshin while observing the other group dealing with the dragon.

“For now, you guys stay back and take rest. You are a gorilla, hence unlimited stamina, but look at Chiba… she looks like she would fall asleep at any moment now. Ena, please carry her home, will you!”

“yes, no problem.” With a smile, Ena gave Chiba who was close to fainting a piggyback ride before jumping away like a rabbit. Chiba, too, didn’t object, knowing where her limits lie. Kenshin smiled discreetly at her, she was so like his sister that it wasn’t even funny. Especially her stubbornness, which would give the hallucination of perseverance. They both were like peas of a pod.

“Joy, you too go and rest. Although our physique is way better than those below 100, you are still fighting and taking all this while. I can see your body literally screaming for you to take rest. You, too, go back and rest. They can manage that thing if they can’t, then I am here.” Then he handed him a small bottle filled with a red potion, it’s the HP potion bottle.

“Alright.” With a nod of agreement, Joy accepted the bottle and walked away, following behind Ena, who had covered quite a distance. He looked towards the puddle of goo in the pit formed from the death of two dragons as a frown marred his face.

“Say, fairy, can’t you recognize this stuff?” he asked, pointing towards the goo. The sword vibrated for a second before a hollow image of Tar’el appeared beside his left ear. Seeing the tar stuff, she shook her head negatively, “I have already told you once, it's my first time coming in contact with this kind of stuff. But, now that I have seen it in bulk, I am feeling a familiar sensation, it’s the same thing as how I create a voodoo curse to control someone.”

“So you are saying that this tarry stuff is actually a curse-ry stuff used for controlling someone? Then how can it come as a drop after slaying monsters?” confused at her words, Kenshin asked.

“Hmm, have you forgotten already? This stuff only appeared in dungeons and that island. If I remember correctly, dungeons are managed by a certain department. It depends upon them to assign what rewards one would get after slaying what monster and so on… they also have to observe the changes within. If they detect any funny business from us, they will immediately trigger a mechanism that would summon monsters indefinitely by taking our energy, vitality, and mentality.”

“And that would cause a Dunegion Break in the world the dungeon originally in.” Kenshin made a horrifying realization. Core said that it depends upon them to create Dunegan breaks, but this Tar’el was saying something different, which strangely makes sense more than what Core blabbered back then.

“That’s right. You don’t know it, but a multiverse is a vast place. I am not only talking about parallel or other dimensions, but also those higher dimensional planes too. You should remember that for a being of a lower dimension, even an ant of higher dimension would be a godlike being to them. I was once used to be a higher dimensional being too, I hailed from Fairy Land Salez’n initially, and after death, I was summoned to a higher world, Narka, as you can see by my physical structure, it’s a place only for undeads.”

“So you were once a higher dimensional being… then where is these so-called godly powers?” Kenshin asked, scarcastically. It's not that he didn’t want to believe, he did believe what she said. Only, that talk about higher dimension didn’t bore well with him. Especially her comparison of an ant to the people of lower dimension.

“This is…” she said, pointing at herself. Seeing Kenshin’s confused face, she laughed snarkily before explaining, “the current me is but a fragment of my will which melded into your sword. Using the sword as my temporary body, a medium, I was able to manifest my ‘soul’ outside that prison. Do you think such feats were possible for people of this world?”

Kenshin became speechless. In reality what she did couldn’t be imitated by anyone in this earth or any parallel earths for that matter. As for the thing about multiversal existence, Kenshin had already relayed the gist of it to Yuki and Suguro, in the presence of Aoi. Leaving aside Suguro, both Yuki and Aoi had connections in the most exalted places. He was sure they would tell those who need to know this stuff.

Roar!!!

Suddenly, the dragon roared into heavens until it fell down face-first into the ground. Then, like how ice melts in presence of fire, its huge body started to melt until a puddle of black goo formed on the ground. It was highly viscous and looked disgusting.

Finally, all three dragons were killed, and Mito was now safe.
