-Vol 6: Dusk Of An Era-
-Renewing The Contract(5)-
“Gather everyone, the skeleton is heading to the north.” A man shouted as a group of five people in full-body plate armors circled it from all sides. The skeleton that was their target was huge, around 20 ft vaguely resembling a humanoid shape with three arms. The third arms were bigger than the two and shaped like an atlatl, every few seconds it would blast a handful of bone spurs towards its target.
Its hands were also huge with bladed ends. The thing was swinging them like a whip, creating destruction all around it. Aside from these physical traits, it also had a form of attack that makes people dizzy for a few seconds one time or bleed from their noses and ears at others. Pretty much an annoying but strong opponent, and perhaps that’s why the hunter who was hunting it showed an expression as if they were enjoying it.
A man wearing full body plate armor and wielding a huge hammer slammed it on one of its legs, breaking apart the boney appendage as if it was made of feeble porcelain. As its legs broke, the creature was no longer able to balance its body and fell down to one side.
“Finally!!” the man with a hammer shouted as he backed away. He broke its leg, with this, his job was over for now.
“Good Job! Now back out, our mage is also ready.” The man who was commanding, shouted in agreement and ordered.
[RRRROOOO!!!]
A pretty nerve-racking sound was heard, sending shivers down everyone’s spine. Despite that, everyone moved back as much as possible. Suddenly a young male voice came “Someone, help me! I can’t move my body.”
“Shit! Kanagawa? He got targeted again? The fuck!” one of the four people shouted and made way towards the east of where he was running to. His aim was the face down man who laid on the ground exposing his back to the monster. Undeads couldn’t feel pain, and neither negative status effects affect them. Even with its broken leg, it was able to attack freely with its two whip-like hands and one atlatl that sprayed bone spurs every few seconds.
Boom!!
Just as he was about to reach the guy, the monster attacked with one of its whip-like hands.
“Shit!” to avoid directly affected by it, the man stopped and rolled to his left side. As he did so, his momentum was broken, and he pulled into the range of the creature’s other hand and its bone sprayer. He was thrown into a precarious situation immediately.
“Hammer!!” a shout came, loud enough to ring everyone’s ears. As soon as it happened, a huge purple hammer print formed in midair and slammed into the undead’s boney human-esque head.
Boom! Crack!!
The skeleton was pushed into the ground, and a huge crack was showing on its head. Even so, there was no shout of pain, which had to be expected. It was an undead, it can’t feel pain and such no inconvenience. But it did break its attack allowing the man to stand up hurriedly and grab the young man like a gunny sack over his shoulders and run to the opposite direction of the skeleton.

“Everyone’s out of range?” the man who was barking orders from the beginning, asked loudly.
“Yes!!” a unanimous reply came.
“Good! Then boys lets marvel the hailstorm that’s about to descend on the land of men…”
“Captain, you should consider leaving this tough line of work for being a poet. It would suit you best.” A short laugh came from his behind which the captain didn't mind and instead nodded his head with a laugh. And then a huge fireball conjured in the sky and fell down upon the skeletal beast that they were fighting against.
“Hailstorm!!” the man behind captain muttered lightly, as he waved his hands lightly like flowing water. According to his hand's motion, the huge fireball moved, forming into a giant whirlpool of fire that sucked the whole thing into it.
BOOM!!
With a massive explosion, everything was swept by hot winds. As the effect of such huge flame wind cooled down, the large bone skeleton was nowhere to be found, on its spot few shining gold coins, two items and something that was rolled up in red cloth.
“Look the drops! Someone go and check what we get.” The captain ordered as he supported the man that stood behind him. The hailstorm he had created was the limit of his ability, after using it once, he became drained of both mental energy and magic energy in his body.
…
“Fire Bullet!” Kenshin shouted loudly as he shot a single concentrated high-speed rotating bullet from his fingertips towards the bunch of rotting zombies that looked like lizards and snakes who were loitering around a swamp. The second dungeon of his choice was unexpectedly one huge swamp covered in dense smog and foliage. The place was so horrible that Kenshin hadn’t moved from his spot after his arrival and instead sniping the undeads from a distance. Of course, by sniping, he meant sweeping everything away with his overwhelming fire abilities which had enhanced further with his recent enlightenment.
With the realization of the correct way to use his skills, Kenshin’s efficiency of killing the mobs increased to an astonishing degree. It was to the point that he had already cleaned up two waves of monsters with two or three such bullets.
The bullet conjured to form the crystallization if his magic and thought penetrated through the bodies of zombies who were walking ever so slowly towards Kenshin after sensing his overwhelming life energy(HP) from afar. After penetrating through the bodies of close to 45 zombies, it exploded into a violent whirlpool of fire, sweeping away the remaining behind them.
The explosion and storm were way more violent than what the man did above. Compared to that man, Kenshin’s consumption if magic was so minuscule that one wouldn’t expect that he achieved such big results with only just that.
“So this is the realm of true strong elites… I should have known!” while muttering this, Kenshin remembered the fight he had seen back during his mission to the North.
“Back then, I thought it was due to them being so strong, so they had maxed out their skill levels or because of their higher attributes. But I would never have thought it was due to this… how naïve I was back then…” Kenshin shook his head while self-deprecating himself. But no one had ever stopped to explain him everything about the higher level of magic control. Joy was also of no help as he didn’t even know it himself. As for Vera, he had never asked her about it… or more like they never got the time to calmly talk about such matters.
“I wonder what exists above this… I can’t wait to reach that height and explore such things.” Shaking his head, Kenshin muttered while anticipating his further growth, not in levels but in the way to use his already obtained skills and strength. To develop himself more fundamentally.
As the third wave was cleaned up, the change he was expecting so long finally occurred. A wave of foul-smelling gas gathered in the middle of a swamp in front of him as it slowly took shape.
