450. Man vs God (1)

-Man vs God(1)-

“Joy, this god has a bunch of weird skills. Be careful and don’t underestimate its magic no matter how weak they might look.” Kenshin reminded Joy before unsheathing his sword slowly. He took a defensive pose and continued, “Also don’t let it stray far away from us. We can only fight it close-ranged.”

“Lowly humans, cease your worthless struggling and accept your death.” The god, Atub bellowed before a mass of golden light gathered around his outstretched palm, slowly taking the shape of a golden sword.

“Kenshin, avoid that sword at all cost. That’s a Truth Severing Blade, one of the absolute skills that gods possess.” Tar’el floated out of Kenshin's sword and informed frantically. Her voice, which usually contained disdain and detachment when talking about others sounded flurried. Kenshin understood the gravity of the situation and decided to avoid rather than take it head-on.

“What’s this Truth Severing Blade? Is it that dangerous?” since his system didn’t provide an explanation, he had to know from another source. Coincidentally this fairy he had made contact with seem to have known a thing or two about it.

“Dangerous? Don’t be silly, if you get wounded that sword, no matter what you do, it wouldn’t heal. Ultimately, you will die from bleeding. That sword literally severs the truth.” Tar’el explained the horror of the skill, before sighing, “I never expected to see a skill so strong in the hands of a stray god… what’s happening there…” when she spoke she unintentionally looked up towards the sky.

Kenshin, after hearing the description of the skill warned Joy about it, and then ran straight towards Atub, not allowing it to have the chance to have the first attack. He was being extremely careful against this god.

Seeing Kenshin running at him, Atub smirked coldly, and slammed his other hand towards Kenshin, sending a silver palm print towards him. The later totally caught unguarded and hence thrown back by the offensive force of the palm print that carried a force similar to a speeding truck.

Doing a backflip in mid-air, Kenshin landed elegantly while making a little dent on the floor from the force. Leaning forward a little, he ran towards Atub again. The ground beneath his feet caved in with a loud boom from the force as he went forwards. Speed like a flash of light he already broke through Atub’s guard and proceeded to stab with his sword.

Suddenly a golden flash nearly blinded him, already feeling the danger of the thing that emitted the light, he employed [5-point movement] and escaped his untimely doom. On the spot, he stood before, was a huge golden sword penetrated the ground to its hilt.

Atub narrowed his eyes and looked at Kenshin in a different light. He couldn’t believe this mere human could dodge his extremely fast execution. No one until now had done so, at least no one weaker than him. Atub revaluated Kenshin and decided to take the fight a little seriously with him.

Kenshin made a hand signal to Joy then using his [Five Point Movement] once again, he zigzagged towards Atub. The latter, although became confused at this, didn’t get flustered. The moment Kenshin came close once again, he used his skill [Instant Speedup] to travel a few distances away before vanishing in a plume of smoke.

Joy wasn’t idle either, he was just waiting for this exact time, the moment Atub dodged Kenshin’s strike and used [Illusion Manipulation] to mislead him, he appeared behind the god and delivered a punch filled with lightning magic and boosted by his Overdrive. The same silver palm print appeared in the nick of the time and blocked the punch before pushing Joy away.

Atub took this time and retreated several steps back, in order to have a better view of his enemies. More importantly to keep Kenshin in his line of sight always. His instincts told him this one was the most dangerous among the two.

After freeing himself from Atub’s illusion, Kenshin narrowed his eyes and looked at his opponent who was also looking at him with the same narrowed eyes. Both were thinking the same thing in their heads, “I have to be careful of this one…”

“Kenshin are you alright?” Joy came running and asked in concern. He saw how Kenshin was standing in the same spot for a while and felt worried.

“Yeah, I am alright. Just got caught in a harmless illusion.” Shaking his head, he once again took a defensive stance. This time he employed his [Dragon Sense] enhanced senses to their maximum so that he didn’t miss it again. It was a good thing Joy was here or else he would have suffered a fatal retaliation when he trapped for a second there.

“Didn’t think there’s a human capable of making me take this fight seriously.” Atub laughed arrogantly before clapping his hands loudly, “but it doesn’t matter. You both are going to die now that you have made the royal me take this seriously.” Atub then pointed his index finger to the sky and started to mumble something incompressible, “Heed my call and come forth my pet, I summon thee, Jabberwock!”

A red light penetrated emerged from Atub’s fingers and penetrated the sky. Then a dark portal opened above them, casting shade above everywhere. In his peripheral vision, Kenshin saw the vegetation starting to die out as soon as the shadow fell upon them. Upon a little close look, he saw rays of green light emerging from the vegetation and entering the portal.

Soon a pale green hand emerged from the portal and landed heavily on the ground with a massive explosion. Following it, another hand and then a huge torso came out. After a few seconds, a fifty-meter tall monster with pale green scales all over its body emerged and roared into the sky. Kenshin saw the monster had three eyes, with one in the middle of its torso, massive and yellow, looking dangerous.

“Oi, Tar’el, what’s this monster? You know anything about it?” Kenshin asked as the system didn’t work in recognizing the thing.

“It’s Jabberwock, a monster thrives in nightmares. It’s very strong and nearly invincible. Although it didn’t have a skill of its own, it had a nasty habit of replicating the skills of all the enemies you faced until now, so be careful.” Tar’el said, but due to the situation, Kenshin didn’t hear the anger in her voice and how she could tell the workings behind the monster’s skills so perfectly.

“Oh… wait, near-invincible! What do you mean by that?” Kenshin looked at the tiny fairy floating beside his head in confusion. He wondered if he could really take this monster on, as its invincibility coupled with the skills replication of all his opponents, it would be a hassle to battle it out.

“This monster can revive from death again and again as long as its opponent still had some unresolved nightmares.” Tar’el sighed before slowly vanishing into his sword, “just make sure to not stare into the eye on its chest… or else you would be trapped in a nightmare of your own.”

“…weird…” Kenshin mumbled seeing Tar’el acting strange the moment this monster descended from the skies. His instinct told him there was a link between the both of them, but he had neither time nor mood to enquire about it for the time being.

Fixing his eyes onto the massive monster he sighed loudly, “unresolved nightmare, eh! Unfortunately for you” Kenshin smiled as he grabbed the sword tighter, “all my lingering nightmares were seeped clean by a kid manifold stronger than both you and your shitty master, haha”

And thus started the battle between two Meta-humans and one Conceptual God.
