302. Another Compulsory Mission

-Vol 5: A New Life-

-Compulsory Mission once again!-

In a completely destroyed clearing, three figures could be seen moving at speed impossible to attain by normal humans. Every now and then sparks of purple, silver, and black could be seen, before craters forming on the ground. The shaking of the ground was constant without any stop as if a constant earthquake was occurring.

Kenshin leaned a little as he avoided a silver claw print to his face, and used his purple energy made sword to initiate his own attack at an approaching black mass. The black mass stopped midway and changed its trajectory. At this time a silver-furred werewolf came jumping at Kenshin, intending to bite off his neck.

Suddenly seven stars conjured on Kenshin’s palm and streaked across space, leading them inside the silver wolf’s head. The head exploded with a shower of blood, exposing its brain matters to the outside world. Taking the chance, Kenshin kicked away the body and instead concentrated on the black cocoon hovering in front of him instead. The silver-furred wolf fell lifelessly to the ground, looking deader than a corpse.

Then suddenly a black tendril emerged from the cocoon and headed for the corpse of the wolf, in the midway Kenshin tried to stop it, but he was simply not fast enough to stop the tendril, even with his recently acquired agility skill. The tendril lodged itself inside the wolf. Like a puppet, the wolf stood up with its brain miraculously healing. The entire thing was like reversing a record player. Its as if time was moving backward for this wolf. Before long, the wolf stood up healthier than before and glared at Kenshin. It lets a loud howl towards to sky as if announcing its resurrection.

“This again!” Kenshin was now frustrated with this repeated resurrection of a wolf. It didn’t the first time that it got resurrected like that, it had already happened 5 times, including this one. Even with him resorting to his [Divine Skill], the result was still the same. Every time he would kill it successfully, the thing would stand up after getting a tendril dose from the hovering cocoon, which was the vampire girl formerly.

He was getting tired of their repeated resurrection.

The wolf immediately charged at Kenshin, it had already long since lost its sanity, reducing to just an animal with instincts. As for the vampire girl, after receiving a punch from Kenshin that sent her flying, she screamed horrifyingly and was like that since then. This time he used his purple energy sword and impaled it through the wolf’s forehead. It was weak as hell and would die with just a single serious attack form his part. The wolf died instantly and fell down to ground lifelessly.

Then a black tendril shot out of the cocoon hovering in midair and headed for the wolf. This time, Kenshin wouldn’t allow it resurrects. He had an idea and wanted to see if it could work or not. Just before the black tendril could touch the wolf, Kenshin stepped on it and pulled it inside his [Inventory]

The black tendril landed on the ground and flailed around. Since there was no wolf to resurrect, it only moved around aimlessly for a few seconds before fading into nothingness. Sighing in relief, Kenshin conjured another cluster of stars and aimed them at the mass of black cocoon. The stars streaked across space and embedded into the dark mass and faded from view soon after.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

This was also not a new sight to Kenshin. He had been doing this since the moment he saw the black cocoon resurrecting the wolf. Although he didn’t know if his skill was causing any damage or not, he still tried. He had already tried everything else but except for his [Starfall dominon] nothing else make past the mass of darkness. Even his [Exploding Domain] and [Destruction Manipulation] was useless.

With nothing else to do, Kenshin just stood calmly with furrowed brows. His instinct and heart telling him that this mass of darkness was bad news. Just as he was about to attempt once more, he suddenly heard a tune that he hadn't heard in a long time.

“Huh! A compulsory mission? I haven't seen it in a long time.” Wondering this, he read through everything and came into a conclusion. The opponent who had yet to reveal herself would be a formidable one. At least, formidable enough to incite out a compulsory Mission from the system.

He pulled out [Blackmoon Beheader] from his [Inventory] and held it in his hands. At the same time, he also felt the effect of various stats and skills of the equipment affecting his body. He would have also used the [Create Dunegion] to receive a 500% boost, but he still had a sense of lingering fear in his heart from his last attempt against the Dilong.

“Now that I think about it, even the fight of with Dilong didn’t prompt a compulsory quest like this. Exactly who am I going to face now?” although he had many questions in his heart, he didn’t stop making preparations.

Then he used his skill [Create Dunegeon] to create a small pebble-sized land and stood on it. As expected a notification appeared showing him all his buffed up stats. He dared not move, lest he had to land on hospital again. Just for the sake of caution, he held a [Health Potion] on his hand as he used the skill.

Then without further delay, he used [Summon Minion] and created two humanoid zombies that looked like middle-aged men. They both wore cloaks that covered them from head to toe perfectly. After summon, the middle-aged men fall to one knee as a show of respect to Kenshin. Seeing them, Kenshin nodded on satisfaction, his experiment succeeded.

Currently, his intelligence and wisdom far surpassed an average genius, how could he not understand some loopholes and combination of skills? The summon minions could create a zombie or any specter class monster with stats half of the user. Now humans generally start their intelligence from 30, even so, their thinking process was complex. As for monsters, even if their INT surpasses 100, they can’t think like humans.

Why?

Because they lack wisdom. Humans have both INT and WIS balanced, which was not the case for monsters. There were even a few monsters who, although had INT above 100, their WIS could barely touch 5 or 6. In such cases, except for using magic, that INT would completely useless on them.

With an added bonus of 500%, the minions had basic stats that were above 2000 including WIS and INT. There would find no way they won’t become intelligent like humans!

After summoning the tow helpers, Kenshin made the pebble vanish and waited for the effect of the title boost to vanish. After that, he checked the stats of the two minions and found no changes in them. A smile broke out of his face. His experiment really succeeded.

“Here, use these weapons in your upcoming fight.” Saying so, Kenshin handed over two ‘katanas’ to his minions. These were no simple items. Each of them has a skill attached to them that could trigger when certain conditions were met.

It cost him 10k G, including the hammer he gave to Ena, his first creation of today that he had sent to back up Joy.

“Thank you, master, for your generous gift. We vow to fight valiantly for your sake.” The two minions bowed respectfully once more and grabbed the katanas in their hands and swung them around. They were trying to get used to them. It would take some time, and Kenshin was in no hurry as the ‘butterfly’ yet to come out of its cocoon.

“Okay.” With a nod, Kenshin accepted their vow and looked at the black mass with anticipation and fear.
